Myself and my two college age daughters signed up for the Edventure Xtreme during our visit to Isla Mujeres in the week before Christmas. It was raining heavily on Isla the day of our tour, so we were a bit apprehensive when making our way to the ferry dock in the dark wet morning (5:30 am). However, as has been said on this forum and in the Edventure promotional material, it turned out to be SO worth it. We had a great day! The weather was much better in Tulum and all the activities were interesting and a lot of fun. I especially want to thank our dedicated guides, Javier and David, for their efforts on that day. We felt totally safe, respected, and cared for throughout. I was impressed by the professionalism displayed by these two and by the other guides at Selva Maya. The health and safety instruction for the zip-lining is likely a regulatory requirement, but it was delivered by Cesar with obvious concern and with just the right amount of humour. Another thanks goes to our van driver and to Ed for providing the rather long transport to and from the Cancun area. Highly recommmended!
ps - take the offer of the photo CD - its well worth it.

Our family of 10 (all adults) booked a day long adventure with Edventure Tours over the Christmas holidays and it turned out to be a great day! The company was great to work with, from the booking emails to the day itself, everyone was friendly, efficient and professional. We were picked up at our hotel early in the morning and taken to their office at the Tulum Ruins site where we were outfitted with gear and guides. From there our very knowledgable guide took us on a walking tour of the Tulum Ruins. The background information provided so much more insight into the significance of the ruins and their cultural and historical context. These ruins are not as extensive as Coba or Chitchen Itza but their setting against the turquoise sea is exquisite. It was a hot morning and our tour provided a short half hour for a much appreciated swim at the beach at the foot of the ruins. From here we were transported to a site where we took a variety of all terrain vehicles over a very rough and fairly long road into the jungle to Selva Maya. The trip was fun but be prepared that it is fairly long and rough. By then the day had clouded up and was a bit drizzly but this didn't deter the enjoyment. We were trained and outfitted for ziplining which took us through about a dozen different lines through the jungle. So much fun and so well organized. There were guides on every platform ensuring we were safe and shackled and another guide zipping ahead to take photos (get the $40 photo CD of ziplining and snorkelling - well worth it!) After ziplining, we were guided through two cenotes - one which was open and the other which was underground. Both were beautiful and unique but the first one was more or less practice for swimming in the dark underground cenote, which was replete with stagacites and stalacites. The guides provided an excellent commentary and along with handheld individual flashlights we were guided through the the underwater caverns - quite an extraordinary experience. By this time we were starving and a hot pulled pork taco awaited us for lunch. Then is was back down the trail and into the van for our last stop at Akumal Bay, place of the turtles. It was pouring rain by this time and while it lessened the visibility, the ocean waters were calm and warm. We were led by the guide through a snorkel tour of the bay and saw turtles, a variety of fish, a couple of stingrays and a very nasty and large moray eel! It's too bad the weather wasn't cooperating but even so, it was great! We were wet and cold and the traffic late in the afternoon delayed our trip back to the resort and hot showers and dry clothes. Still, it was an amazing and very full day - educational and adventuresome! The guides were amazing and throughout the day we had the expertise and care of several different guides. The adventure parks are great (we've visited Xcaret) but this was an authentic experience, taking in three different unique and extraordinary locales - Tulum, Selva Maya and Akumal. I highly recommend this tour company!

We did a lot of reading before finally booking with Edventure Tours. It was an excellent choice - they picked us up at our Cancun hotel in a small van with only one other family. Our guide was Brian and he was great with us and our 13 year old son. We toured the Tulum ruins then zip-lined thru the rain forest and then snorkeled in the cenotes. Edventure has their own private area for the zip-line and cenotes so we were never crowded. They even went out of their way and surprised our son with a birthday cake at lunch. Brian then brought us to Akumi to swim with the sea turtles. Finally, we went back to Ed's house (the owner) to change and clean up before being driven back to Cancun. We can't say enough about Edventure - the people were so friendly and professional and nice - they clearly enjoyed their work and their company. We highly recommend this personal trip instead of going with one of the big tours.

My son and I ziplined, snorkeled in the Cenote, and with the turtles in Akumal, and we saw the Tulum ruins! It was a wonderful experience. The staff was great and they were wonderful with my 10 year old son. We will definitely be returning to Mexico and doing another Edventure! Thanks for a great day!

We just returned from our Mexico vacation and wanted to make sure to write a review right away, as our two day trips with Edventure Tours were both GREAT! A friend had recommended Edventure before we left, so we had booked our first day trip on-line a month or so before we left for Mexico. We booked the Xtreme tour (zip lining, snorkeling in a cenote, swimming/snorkeling with sea turtles in Akumal and then more snorkeling at a lagoon). Everything we smoothly right from the start. The trip was loads of fun (and safe).
The best part of our trip was our guide David. He kept our two teenage kids interested and had a tremendous amount of knowledge about the area. kids certainly thought this was the best day of the trip.
The second trip was to Coba , a natural monkey park, and a Mayan village. this was a slower trip but again all went very smoothly. Our daughter really loved going to a real Mayan village and getting a chance to interact with young kids. David was our guide again, filled us in with great history and stories. its nice to have a guide who takes pride in his area.We also stopped at a domestic beach -off the beaten path but beautiful. We had lunch in a local restaurant (pollo blanco) the food was safe and delicious. A real nice change from the all inclusive resort we were staying at. BTW this trip was customized for us, ask ED and he will do his best to make it happen.
All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend Edventure tours-small groups, great guides, and a lot of fun!
