We had the most amazing time at Nueva Vida! We stayed in Nostalgia in the Corazon area the week of May 18th. The room was awesome, it definitely exceeded our expectations. The room was very clean and cute.
We enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning. The orange juice is the best I've ever had, and the coffee was very fresh and tasty.
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was an issue with a tour that we booked online from home,(they lost our reservation) and Ricardo got it all cleared up and we were able to go on the tour the next day. We were very grateful for that.
One night during our stay a sea turtle came up and laid eggs. We didnt get to see it, but we saw the tracks it made in the sand, which was very cool.
We walked up and down the beach, and we felt in our opinion that Nueva Vida had the best beach. It was so cool because when the ocean was calm, which it was on most days, you could literally go out your front door to the beach and go snorkeling. If you swim out far enough you can snorkel around and see fish, and stingrays, and our neighbors even saw a turtle.
If I had one complaint it would be that the food was a little spendy for how small the portions were. Comparatively though, this is a very minor detail.
There really isnt enough time or words to describe this beautiful paradise. If you've never been then you must go. The ocean is so warm you have to experience it to believe it. We are from Oregon where the ocean is not so warm, so it was very exciting for us.
It was hard to leave but we are looking forward to going back soon.

We stayed at NVR 2 nights the last week of May. We were actually scheduled to stay 3 mights but couldn't bear the heat at night. I will start by saying that we had already been at an ecolodge the 3 nights prior and that influenced our decision to leave one night early from NVR. We stayed in the Corazon area. I think our room name was Exstasis and the rooms are great. Very clean and spacious and a wonderful balcony that is perfect to just watch the ocean waves. It was perfect when we got there really. BUT the way that the room is designed leaves no breeze coming through once the door is closed. It was ok the 1st night but the 2nd we were both up and had to eventually just sleep with the door wide open.

My husband was fine with that but I did not sleep. It's pitch black outside and I could not relax and fall asleep thinking that our door was wide open and anyone could just walk in. Aside from that we had no complaints.

It's a quiet property on a great stretch of beach and the chairs and beach bed were laid out for us both days. The staff at NVR is great. They were very accomodating and when we arrived we had flowers on the bed which was a nice touch.

We ate at Casa Banana one night for dinner for their argentinian steak gril and it was awesome. The continental breakfast is pretty boring- a small plate of fruit/toast and coffee. We ordered eggs our last day but that's not included in your rate. You must must must eat at Hemmingway which was a short cab ride away. We had the most amazing dinner on the water. The restaurant is in teh back of the cabana area and it feels like you are a guest in someone's home. It was seriously to die for- so were the margaritas. Fresh lime juice and the perfect balance of liquor. yum! We also went to the Cesiak hotel after reading some reccommendations on here to watch the sunset and were eaten alive by the mosquitos. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and there wasn't much of a sunset but it was still very beautiful up there. The food was good there too. We were the only ones there. We didn't have a rental car and jsut be aware that it is a bit of a hike from NVR- even in a cab. We were charged almost $20! It was nice though but something to consider if you are on a budget. All our other cab rides were so cheap that I think the drivers hike up the rate because it's all the way at the end of the strip of cabanas and it's a dark rough road.

I think I would go back to NVR just maybe a different time of year. Even the staff agreed that it was unbearably hot those days. It really is a great place we had just had our fill since we had been travelling for almost 2 weeks already.

My wife and I hadn't been on vacation in a while. We decided on Tulum and Nueva Vida after research on TripAdvisor and tulum.info. We booked the La Ola room in December 2008, paying with PayPal online which was painless. We had quick responses from Ricardo and the rest of the staff, which were extremely helpful the entire trip. Nueva Vida is truly a slice of paradise. The closest cabanas out of all the hotels on the beautiful Tulum beach, and also the best beach is right in front. We were there right after the swine flu scare, and while there were much less people, Nueva Vida was one of the only places open, let alone surviving. Still very secluded, private, and quiet.

We booked La Ola because we wanted the closest cabana to the water we could get. It is probably the most rustic cabana at Nueva Vida, but that is what we were looking for. If you need something more, the new Corazon units are beautiful.

Continental breakfast at Casa Banana just across the little road was so very good each morning, and was included at no charge.

Long story short, we really loved this place and will definitely be back. You can read our trip report at: http://tulum.info/showthread.php?t=3886

This hotel was the BEST. It was absolutely perfect. Gorgeous beach, beautiful and clean maintained grounds, super helpful staff and Casa Banana Restaurante was awesome. We stayed for 8 nights last week in the "Suspiro" room in the Zona Corazon area. The room was fantastic. Great deck, bed, bathroom. No complaints. It was windy everyday which was great - cooled things down & kept the mosquitos away. La Nueva has the best beach BY FAR along the corridor. We walked way up and down the beach and hands down their section of beach was perfect. The lounge beds on the beach were very comfy and layed out everyday for us. I really loved that they take such good care of the turtles! A couple recommendations: drive down the road heading toward the Sian'Kaan biosphere and watch the sunset from the roof deck at Cesiak hotel. It was definitely a highlight of the trip and we wished we knew about it sooner. We would've been there everyday for sunset. Really amazing views of the ocean & lagoon. If you can, check out Chichen Itza and the colonial town of Valladolid in addition to the Tulum ruins. About a 2 hour drive and soooo worth it. La Zebra down the beach had great food and is really cool but Casa Banana was the best. Loved the continental breakfast, fruit smoothies and super sweet staff. We had a great dinners at Cetli & Posada Margherita. I also recommed Edventure Tours if you're into that sort of thing. They were awesome and we had an absolute blast that day with them. All in all we were sooooo happy that we stayed at La Nueva Vida - Ricardo and Santiago really made sure everything was ok and we had an absolute BLAST! Honestly can't wait to go back next year.

We stayed at Nueva Vida twice during our recent honeymoon and are so in love with it that we plan to return every year if we can! We arrived in Mexico one day after the swine flu hit, and tourists were leaving in droves. We drove up and down the road in Tulum looking for a place to stay that wasn't totally hippie-d out and more on the upscale side while still affordable. Nueva Vida was perfect. The extremely friendly and helpful Ricardo welcomed us with open arms and got us settled right away in an extremely well priced, beautiful cabana facing nothing but the gorgeous ocean. The room was full of sweet touches like Mexican ceramic tiles and lovely organic toiletries. The beach was at our doorstep and we fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The restaurant gave us some of the best meals we had in Mexico - the best being the simple but well-prepared rice, beans and plantains. We stayed two nights and were sad to go. Long story short, we were unexpectedly headed back to Tulum at the end of our trip after a 14 hour car ride and a traumatic border crossing, facing a potentially canceled flight. We called Nueva Vida and they stepped right up to the plate, no problem - they had a room waiting for us, offered to set aside a meal since we were arriving late, and this time our room was even MORE beautiful than the first! We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this gem and would highly recommend this lovely spot.

This is a great place to stay if you're looking to be close to nature and away from the crowds. It's surrounded by lush vegetation, right on the beach and very clean.
We had a big bed with mosquitoes net, electronic safe in the room, small bathroom with shower (half sea water), good quality toiletries, all the necessary towels, one bottle of water per day (one bottle per person or a bigger bottle would have been even better) and daily maid service. The upper front part of our room was open, but the breeze and the wave sounds were felt a little too strong during the windy nights.
The beach is well maintained - white sand and clear blue water, no rocks or algae...
The restaurant has good food (not spicy), the drinks are amazing, but the continental breakfast is light and it can be a little boring to eat the same thing every day.
We booked a tour at the front desk and they were very helpful. Buy a travel book in advance and rent a car, this place is close to many beautiful tourist destinations in Riviera Maya!

The place is just perfect. Right on the beach, gorgeous views, excellent restaurant. One feels very close to nature. Rooms are nicely decorated, no outlets though, but all appliances can be charged in the lobby. We had a rental car, and the hotel offered free parking. We're going back in 1 week, and can't wait!!!!
