Nueva Vida de Ramiro
Ranked #13 of 100 Hotels in Tulum
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 16, 2011

We just returned from a week at Nueva Vida and we couldnt have left there more relaxed. My husband and I travel a lot both for work and leisure and have stayed at a lot of hotels around the world from boutique hotels to five star hotels. This has become one of our favourite places. If you want to come to place and absolutely relax with not a worry in the world this is the place to go....from service, to rooms to the most expansive stretch of beach in tulum. I had done a ton of research and Nueva Vida seemed like the best choice but as usual you dont really know until you get there. Our room had a view of the sea and the jungle. We ended up in a sea view room as we booked so last minute. When you are in the shower you are actually looking at the jungle. We slept with our doors open and could hear birds, the sea etc. at night. Very amazing. They have taken great care in preserving the natural habitat at Nueva Vida. Its so wonderful that each bungalow and room seems completely private with the jungle and sea right there. You never hear another soul.

Every morning they set up your own very comfy beach bed, two chairs and an umbrella. We were there in peak season so the place was considered "busy" but you could not hear the people at the next beach bed next t you because their beach is so expansive! you actually feel like you are completely alone on the beach. Many of the guests that we did meet had been on their 3rd or 4th trip to Nueva Vida. I can see why. There is always service on the beach but it is not intrusive. You just wave someone down as opposed to someone invading your privacy every five minutes. We had amazing fresh squeezed margaritas on the beach almost every day. Another nice touch is that someone came by in the afternoon with a small plate of fresh papaya on some days. The cerviche was also amazing. The entire property is so well kept. and you can see the personal attention and care the owners take. We walked up an down the beach on both sides of the hotel to see the other cabanas and hotels and this is by far the most relaxing and private place. If you want to be around more people or want a change of scenery right next door is la zebra and all other places are walking distance on the beach. We went to la zebra a few times as they have great cerviche and mojitos. We also went to a few other places on the beach for a coffee or a drink and as much as we enjoyed them we enjoyed coming back to Nueva Vida. We did have the steak at Casa Banana...was great. The people who work on the property, including at the restaurant are all so nice and friendly. You get the feeling that they actually love working there and they care about the place and their guests which adds to the positive experience. I cannot say enough good things about Nueva Vida. To top it off the owners are so nice, we were heading to Playa for a few nights (which we regretted after being in paradise) and the owners were going that way and offered us a ride. Who does that anymore...only people that are genuinely nice. All I have to say is that this would be my top choice in Tulum from the best stretch of beach, to the amazing service, to the rooms. It is magic. There is no way you can't come back completely relaxed after staying here...paradise.

We stayed 8 days seven nights in Tulum at this fabulous resort. I hestitate to say "resort" because that conjures images of waiters bringing you beverages at the pool. Instead, Tulum specializes in quaint, gorgeous locations stripped down to the bare minimum so nothing distracts you from spending your time enjoying the highlight of the area- the beaches. We walked up and down the beach every day and think Nueva Vida has the best location and the best accommodations. Other resorts put the restaurant on the beach and keep the rooms back, but Nueva Vida puts the cabanas front and center on the beach so there are lots of locations with ocean view.

We stayed in Deseo in Zona Corazon, which is an oceanfront cabana on the second floor. The rooms are bare bones with no TV and no phone, so all you do is relax! The bathrooms are clean and there is plenty of hot water in the showers. Be aware- the water is not fresh (saltwater) and there is no hot water at the sink. They provide bottled water to help you brush your teeth. Also, there are no plugs in the room, so no blowdryers and no flat irons. The balconies have chairs and tables for catching the afternoon breezes.

The resort provides really comfortable mattresses, umbrellas, and chairs on the beach every day. The ocean was a beautiful tourquoise color, but the surf was too rough for me to swim. There are several other resorts within five minutes, so you have plenty of lunch options. The Casa Banana staff also come to the beach around noon with menus to take lunch/drink orders.

Casa Banana breakfast was really special. We looked forward to our fruit plates, toast, and coffee every day. We chose to eat in the restaurant for the socialization before retiring to the beach. The pineapple spread for the toast was my favorite. Dinner was good too, although there are cheaper and more traditional restaurants close by (La Zebra).

We will definitely be back to Nueva Vida on a future trip. We were thrilled with our first Tulum experience and highly recommend it for travelers who are looking for a beach vacation without all the pomp and excess of an all inclusive resort.

My boyfriend booked this hotel as a surprise for my 30th birthday and we found it pretty much perfect. The reservation was originally for Alma del Mar but when we checked in, we were told it was having essential maintenance carried out so we were shown to Suspiro, one of the suites and it was amazing. On the second floor and with uninterrupted views of the beach, it was immaculately clean, very spacious and very comfortable. The beach was literally a few seconds walk away and possibly the cleanest sea water we've ever swam in, nice and warm too!
Each morning a guy from the hotel brought out the beach beds, tables and umbrellas for each guest which was a nice personal touch. We felt like we were the only ones there as the hotel feels very private and quiet, paradise. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and very pleasant and friendly. Breakfast at Casa Banana was lovely, fresh juice and tea or coffee, fruit and various breads each morning and we also ate there a couple of times and found the food and staff to be excellent and also a great atmosphere as it always seemed busy. There are some great restaurants and bars dotted along the beach including La Zebra (amazing cocktails and live music) and Om. It is a wonderful place to stay and hopefully we'll be back one day soon!

We just returned March 1st from a 4 night stay at NVR in the Viento del mar unit. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The staff was extremely helpful from the time we arrived until we left. Ricardo went above and beyond his job description. We chose Viento because we were on somewhat of a budget and that room was cheaper than many of the others. it was amazing. It is ocean view, on the second floor with an amazing breeze and wonderful balcony. The balcony wrapped around the front and side of the unit and the side was very private and got plenty of sunshine. We had a great view and could hear the ocean all night long with our doors open. I never saw one bug or lizard or anything inside our room. The only complaint was the bed was hard, but most of the beds in Mexico are hard. Breakfast which was included was plenty. My husband would order something extra each day like to go along with the included breakfast for about 8 dollars. The beach was unbelievable. we walked up and down the beach and NVR by far has be best beach set up. We did order a few drinks on the beach and lunch a couple of times from casa banana. The fajitas were amazing. we never had a problem with mesquitos even after it rained one day. When we return to to Tulum, we will stay at NVR in the same room!

We recently returned from 3 nights in the Lirio room at Nueva Vida. We had a wonderful vacation and were really pleased with our choice of places to stay. Nueva Vida is more expensive than a lot of the beach places in Tulum, but we noticed when walking the beach that there is a lot more privacy at this hotel. The beach chairs are really spread out and quiet, unlike some of the other places we passed. The buildings look of better quality too. Speaking of Nueva Vida’s beach, it’s beautiful and peaceful. Although they had plenty of guests, we were often on the only people on our stretch of sand. We had a jungle room set back from the beach, but we liked its privacy and the view of all the trees. It was spotlessly clean at all times, a real feat for a beach bungalow! It also had a lovely balcony, and there are organic toiletries and bottled water replenished daily. We slept find, but we think it would be very hot during the summer months as it doesn't really get much ocean breeze. The staff at Nueva Vida were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our drinks on arrival, and management went out of their way to help us get settled and plan our stay. This was at our request; they certainly weren’t pushy about it. We rented bikes to bike to the ruins, and they arrived promptly and in good condition. We also hired a driver through Nueva Vida to go to Coba and Tulum town, and he was wonderful. The only service bummers were that we requested breakfast in our room, and once it arrived 15 minutes late and the next day didn’t turn up at all. After half an hour, we gave in and went to the restaurant to eat. Not a huge deal except we had a very short stay and really planned our days to maximize every minute. Another strange thing was that the hotel advertises as adults only, no children under 12. We saw two separate families with young children (as in 2 - 5 year olds). We weren’t disturbed at all, but we weren’t staying near them and it did seem like false advertising. Those issues were really minor for us, though. Breakfast is adequate, fresh fruit and toast with great coffee. There is drink and food service on the beach, but you have to go find someone to order. It’s not far to the main cabana, but it would be nice if someone came around somewhat regularly. Overall we found the hotel beautiful, the staff very friendly, and the rooms and restaurant extremely comfortable, charming, and clean. We’d recommend it and would stay there again if we’re back in Tulum.

My wife and I just got back from spending a week in Tulum at Nueva Vida de Ramiro...and I must say, we can't wait to go back! Our room (Amor Eterno) was wonderful, we were beach front with a view of the ocean that was spectacular. The staff were amazing and so friendly and accommodating. It was so relaxing to sleep and wake up each morning to the sounds of the beautiful Tulum beach...later to enjoy breakfast delivered to our porch overlooking the ocean. The beach service is awesome here...you can order from the entire menu at Casa Banana and have it brought directly to you on the beach! Be sure to try the margaritas (freshly squeezed lime juice) and the fried calamari appetizer and guacamole...our favorites and perfect for snacking on the beach. What we really liked best was the way NVR fits into the local flora/fauna with little to interrupt the natural state of the jungle. NVR is located on one of the best stretches of beach along the entire Tulum coastline, just a mile or so from the national park. We can't wait to go back--can't happen soon enough!!

I truly cannot say enough about this place. It's heaven on earth. Period. The staff is delightful, the beach is stunning and the cabanas are charming. You don't need to go to Thailand or Fiji to get a tropical, tiki-hut getaway.....go to Nueva Vida. I've been twice and just got back home and I am already looking forward to my next visit. Feel free to message with questions. Happy to answer.
