“NOT AGAIN.”
Reviewed May 16, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

As someone who relies heavily on others trip advisor reviews, I feel I should write an honest description of our experience here, and not leave anything out.
We arrived in what appeared to be a very uncomfortable back street to literally a large metal gate with no signs; no people, and no idea where the entrance to this property was. We sat in our taxi for 15 minutes debating how to even contact the property to cancel our reservation as we felt uneasy right away. It was only until two men in the street (who happened to have keys to this large gate?!) opened it and returned with a woman who said she was the owner of Petit Agave and had been waiting for us to arrive. We told her this was not what we had expected and were going to cancel, but she insisted we come inside to show us the apartment, which we agreed upon, and reluctantly stayed the one night as we had just endured a long flight. I also asked her how any guest was expected to know where to go once arriving to the address with absolutely no signage or inclination this was even correct, to which she replied she walked out the front every few minutes to see if we had arrived. This was the first alarm bell.

The apartment itself is nice. Three levels, and yes you do have the apartment to yourself, with others next door sharing the same courtyards to their rooms. The host was friendly and spoke English which was comforting. HOWEVER, expect to pay in cash or you'll need to walk to an office blocks away to use a credit card, not ideal. Despite being aesthetically nice, it is not in a safe and comfortable area. Yes it is close to 5th Avenue and during the day perhaps you could walk around, but absolutely not at night. The shower was a spray of water without a shower head, (see picture) with hot water being debatable. An example would be a toy water pistol, without exaggeration. Ladies, don't even bother trying to wash your hair- it's not going to happen.
In the morning, we were woken with literally pounding on the downstairs glass door by a woman who spoke zero English who we thought might have been housekeeping, (as we were told this would be the case during the day), but this was at 8:15am, and she was not housekeeping!! She proceeded to translate using her phone that we needed to have our luggage out of the room & in their office during the day, when previously we had asked to leave it locked in the apartment to go explore the local beaches. So we were woken up and basically told we needed to be out then and there, when I'm certain there was no check out time before 9am! The host had told us whenever was fine, and to leave the key on the bench top when we left. She also said to make it our home, which we had, and had done some handwashing as we were traveling through many locations, so all of our wet washing - which we intended to leave on the rooftop in the sun was now wet in our luggage as we weren't able to remain in the property for it to dry. We also waited for someone to return to the apartment at the time she said she would retrieve our bags to take to the office for over half an hour. We tried to contact the number on the business card and reached a man who also didn't speak English, and no answer on the office phone.

After waiting half an hour we had to drag our large suitcases ACROSS TRAFFIC 3 blocks to an "office", also with no signage, and no sign of the host. We had no choice but to leave our belongings here with people we hadn't seen before while we went for lunch, only to return to a locked gate and having to physically yell out IN THE STREET for someone to come and let us in for over 10 minutes. We were beyond frustrated and furious at this stage.

We speak a little Spanish so language was not the only barrier, but through all of this major miscommunication and messing around, we would NEVER stay here again. Be aware of what you are booking. We travel a lot and have not experienced this kind of accommodation stress; describing this as a nightmare is an understatement. On paper, the pictures of the apartment are nice, and it's close to everything, but I HIGHLY recommended you do not stay here.

Respectable guest.
I have read your comments carefully which for the staff of condos Petit and for me as Director General are very important to improve any deficiencies and keep our goal clear. Although there is a point where I find that you are right specifically in the lack of notice of the property. On the outside. We always contacted our guests to establish an estimated arrival schedule so that a person who in your case was violet. I welcome and illustrate to you about our services that are not few and the facilities that we give to our guests. Our accommodation has very high ratings on various platforms and creates. We do not buy ratings, we do not even ask the guests to qualify us, we leave it to their discretion. Let me say that for being a alojaniento who also cares about sustentavilidad and the environment. Example of this is our garden that extends from front to bottom of the property and to where they see all the departments of the accommodation only 4 because unlike other structures in the city are only concrete. Here we want the guests to relax and enjoy their stay, we look for their experience to be relaxing and comfortable. That is why every accommodation has its own private terrace with its jacuzzi, its shower or head of bliss as I mistakenly call it a high pressure ecological shower. With a 25-year more expensive guarantee than any
Another that you usually find in the market. For us it is bath is funfanental for guests should be cozy, clean in end and with a major shower pressure. We also provide 100% natural toilet amenities made by Yucatan Mayan communities
As for you asked to leave your accommodation at 9:00 am I commented that you after checking in sent a communication through Booking.com. Portal where he made Subreserve where he requested to leave his luggage the day after his arrival. Subreserve was for 1 night and you wanted to go to xcaret the next day and leave everything in the apartment until your return. As our policy indicates the check out is at 12:00 hrs. It was answered by the same way which we have perfectly documented that it was not possible to leave the room until you visit Xcaret which takes all day and part of the night as the show ends at 22:00 hrs. But who would gladly we in our office receiving his luggage without schedule, we only asked him to establish a schedule for the delivery of the same. And he was told to send our Housekeeper to tell him if he so wished where our office was. Same as it is 150 meters away and where if there is a bell at the door itself you powered because it was I who attended the 13:00 hours when he went through his luggage instead of the 15:00 hours that was the time indicated by you when leaving them. As you will see we only we to support a request from you no one ever intended to make you leave your accommodation for which you pay until 12:00 hours.
I can understand that the lack of understanding with someone of the staff has caused frustration but you through the portal where I reserve had clear policies and a communication tool with management.
Our accommodation is not in a secondary street. It is located on a private street, safe 100% is by day that at night. Less than 250 meters from 5 Mt Avenue and with all the services at your fingertips without transportation. Even when you have a persepcion that in my opinion is far from how things were given I invite you to if you ever return to Playa del Carmen. Stay with us again. (free of charge for 3 nights) for one to see more write a comment about our accommodation.
I appreciate that you have taken the time to write because it has also given us the possibility to communicate with the readers and travelers of Trip Advisor

“Great Property with Fantastic Management”
Reviewed December 7, 2016 for a stay in December 2016

I stayed at Petit Agave for 9 nights. The property is unique as each unit is a small. 3 story town home. The buildings are made very well with attention to detail and the rooftop jaccuzi for each room is a nice touch. The Wi-Fi is pumping at 20 megs and there is full cable as well. Daily cleaning was great also. Highly recommended!

“Great Apartment.”

The Petite Agave condo was a wonderful place to stay. It is within a short walk to the beach, restaurants, shopping and nightlife while staying just outside of the touristy area. The condo itself is on a quiet street with friendly locals. It has 3 floors, the first floor has a kitchen, small living space with fold out couch bed and small bathroom. The second floor has a large bathroom with shower and 1 bedroom with a small balcony. There is also a roof top patio with jacuzzi tub. It's a really nice, clean space and well decorated. The only issue that I could see being a problem is for people travelling with small children is that the stairs have no railing.
The owner Pedro was nice and very accommodating. His English is basic but he brought a friend along who spoke English perfectly to meet us.
All in all a great experience. I would stay there again.
