It was HOT- we arrived for lunch and were shown to a table near a fan. (NO AC HERE!) There were four of us and the waiter recommended a family dinner - while we waited they brought chips and three types of salsas, hot, hotter and hottest. We watched the cook grilling food and putting it on top of a metal chimney looking thing.... then they brought that thing to our table!!! It was smoking hot! There were actually coals in the box and all the meat and molten cheese on top...all was yummy good an we all had a more than we needed, fish, beef, chicken and cactus, cheese and chips and a "salad" plate with radishes and cucumber... would absolutely recommend but.....it is not for everybody. You have to be just a tad adventurous.

If you are hungry, try the Taco Loco. I always return to this place.
On the street, plastic chairs but a great place to eat.

Super yummy and super inexpensive. Best meal I had the entire trip.

The Al Pastor tacos were amazing..Carne Asada and Chorizo tacos were good as well. This place is packed and there is always a bit of a wait. But, its worth it. Plus, there is a Mega store across the street where you can get snacks and water for a reasonable price and it is within walking distance to the two main tourist strips in Playa.

The chorizo tacos here are amazing!! We didn't get to try the el pastor tacos as everyone is raving about because they weren't available until 5pm. The service was eh. Not really that attentive but can't really ask for much in a outdoor hole in the wall. It gets really hot in there because of the stove but the tacos were great!

I asked a taxi driver to recommend a good cheap Mexican place, and I wasn't disapointed. The place was large and busy with a nice mix of mostly locals and a few tourists. I got some tacos and plate of chicken and it was all pretty good. Given the low prices, this place was a great value.
