As a veteran of 14 Mexican trips there I pretty much know what to expect and MYOLI B+B was certainly way more than I expected And one of coolest places I’ve ever stayed anywhere.
The normal things people like to complain about in MX are hard as rock beds, no hot water or no water pressure, bad smells, bad service in general, noise, no A/C poor security, theft from rooms, screaming brats or bad location either the hell away and gone from civilization or in an extremely busy noisy area.
I really wasn’t looking for an all in party hotel on the beach but rather a laid back place that was quiet and a little different to the big hotels, thinking recovery, peace and quiet.
There was just something about the description, pictures and reviews of the place that intrigued me so I booked 9 nights.
This little hunk of paradise is located easily accessible to Cancun airport and only a few kms north of PDC in an area that has new roads, sewage, sidewalks etc yet very little development so far. It is basically in the jungle by the city.
You can walk down the block 5 minutes and easily hail a taxi or we will call one to come and pick you up.’ I then asked a little more about getting downtown and their response was ‘Oh we’ll just take you there and show you.’ Uhhh you’ll take me there and what??? I asked myself.
This is a little more than above and beyond the call –WOW sounds good already!
In this B+B there are basically 4 very nicely appointed adult only rooms in 2 casas that surround the pool and main owner’s residence.
The yard was beautifully landscaped featuring many interesting tropical plants and trees palms etc.as well as being a bird watcher’s delight!
The room was much like some 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in. Huge, with 16 ft vaulted ceilings, marble floors pumped not gravity fed water, all upscale plumbing and lighting fixtures and a shower area that came out of Architectural Digest – super cool! The king sized bed is more comfortable than my own expensive bed and the A/C had an instant cool feature. There was a new frig, 2 chairs and a table as well as another chair and bench for your suitcases all nicely laid out. There was a very good sized 1080p TV and Sat/netflix but I never used them. Tons of storage in the built in mahogany cabinets
Linens and towels were top quality and you even got 2 beach towels for around the pool or if you decided to go to the beach.
So far I’m mighty impressed and haven’t even unpacked or gotten into the pristine guitar shaped pool yet!
Chris told me there were underground aquifers called cenotes and that was where they could access fresh water. Consequently the pool was always crystal clear and a surprisingly cool temperature. I really could go on about this place forever…
Every morning at 10 Luiz their hired man knocked on my door and I got a pot of coffee and a biscuit and they didn’t even charge me for it.
On my first day Chris drove me downtown and showed me a few places before dropping me off on 5 Ave. the downtown, shopping, entertainment pedestrian mall just off the beach. You can go anywhere in PDC for $4-7 CDN
I am writing this review because I think this place is simply outstanding in terms of being surrounded by beauty, cleanliness of the whole site, modern upscale room, quiet location, proximity to downtown and of course the genuine friendliness, kindness and helpfulness provided by Chris and Karin.
