I am here now and enjoy this resport, but there is pros and cons.

Service: Taxi- Thomas more is the cheapest and safest way to travel. They are nice and if your flight gets in early they will have someone take you right away rather then wait. The Service in the hotel: very helpful, check-in was a breeze, housekeeping was friendly.

Food: Reasonable price, everything was very tasteful except the steak, it was very chewy and not the same quality as america. Waiters in the restaurant couldnt be happier, very polite, professional, and were there every time we needed them. we had rene in la palapa de sol (hes great). If you are gonig to eat steak or chicken go to La palapa de sol (its the same food but cheaper) instead of Los Murales.

Villa: very nice big spacious. cons: does not have an ice maker, does not have a starter kit like dish soap, paper towels, laundry detergent, drain board for your dishes etc. When we got to our villa all the cabinets were open, and then extra beds that are by your tv were down and matress was standing up so we had to close everything ( not something I want to do on my trip when i first get in a room). I did find one dead cacoroch in my bathroom the first day.

Towel Booth: they are great, fast, easy going. just dont lose or get your towel stolen or you will have to pay for it.

Social activities: not many for adults. there is not entertainment at night ( they have a dance but noone is there we had the whole dance floor) this resort should add shows or something.

Security: the security will watch you in the am and take your room number down to where you put your towels, they have a 60min rule if you leave they will take your towel away.

Wifi in your villa: sucks!!!!! we are right by the main building *C* and our room does not get great connection. try going on your balcony it was better. this resport should add a ethernet cable.

Store at resort: great little store it had everything we needed but it does not have there big of a selection on fruit and veggies. Also we did have to bag our own items...

Pool/ beach: pool great pool but cons: you are not allowed rafts! (well if you walk to phase 2 pool you seem to be allowed. first resort i went to that told you no you need to take it out. Beach con: it is not a calm beach has waves, there are booies around the whole area on where you cant swim or go by. the sand part is very small. if you walk to the right (a good 5 min walk) there is a dive shop and they have nice blue calm water.

Gym: first resort i ever went to where you need to pay for a gym!!!

The main con on this resort is how it is a non cash place. at first it was very nice not carrying cash and using your room key, but when you go to the store they charge you a different peso's then the pool and bar. and when i google how much the exchange rate is, it is higher then what they tell you at the resort. for this reason i dont think i will come stay here again.

Room Tip: we stayed in C and we liked it right down stairs from the store main desk and bar at night.

The Royal Haciendas definitely carry on the Royal Resorts tradition of excellence, and we had a terrific time on our last trip, as we love Playa del Carmen. The villas are laid out very similarly to the Royal Mayan, Islander and Caribbean, with a few design improvements. Everything is in excellent condition, and the service is outstanding.

I do have to say that I didn't think that the grounds were as pretty as the Royal Mayan, where we stayed last November, and the tiles they've used to pave all of the walkways are extremely slippery. Not only did our young son fall numerous times, my husband and I - and many other people we observed - almost fell many times. They definitely need to do something about it!

Room Tip: If having good WI-FI reception is important to you, ask for a room near the pool area. The reception...

My wife and I are inveterate travellers and regular visitors to the Caribbean, staying in a huge variety of locations and accommodation. I have dived all over the world for the last 20 years and experienced all sorts of dive centres and operators. We have just returned from a two week stay at Royal Haciendas and rate the experience extremely highly. Every single part of the trip was fabulous. The Mexican people were without exception friendly, courteous, smiling, professional and FUN. The location, design, quality of rooms and furnishings at the RH is up with the very best, the resort is beautifully maintained and immaculate, the pools and grounds are simply stunning. The in house dive operator Dive Balam is very professional, the local reefs are very healthy and a photographer's dream. We mostly cooked in, the kitchen being well appointed, but we did eat some meals in the restaurants and at the poolside grill, and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. What a fantastic trip!!!

Room Tip: Don't worry about which rooms to choose, the design is such that all rooms have an ocean view of...

We had a fabulous experience!!! we stayed in a two bedroom suite and it had everything needed to stay confortable and energized so that we can do many of the nearby activities. Of highest recomendation is Explorer and Coba. Explorer is about 15mins away and it has among other things over the jungle canopy Zip-Lines and subterranious river caves with stelactite formations forming and hanging from the ceilings. Coba is an observation pyramid that looks over the entire jungle canoppy. But back to the resort, the resort is fabulouse and the staff is outstanding. The infinity pool is nice and big with the service bar and long happy hours. The other pools are also very nice. They have a welcome party with free beer and lunch. The next they they have a Taco party with more free beer and some fun games. Ocean views are ok in most of the resort but city code keeps the buildings at maximum 4 floors. Playa Del Carmen is just ten minutes away and they have shopping at fifth ave and local food. A very good restaurant out of te beaten path is El Fogonsito on Constituyente Ave. Right in front of the supermarket with the pelican symbol. The whole experience is just Fabulouse!

One caution note: put on your car seat belt as soon as you get in the car. The police is very young and have very good eye sight and they enforce this law very jelously! I was stopped by a young policeman, early 20-something, but luckly I was able to talk my way out of a ticket without a bribe.

Room Tip: choose the highest floor and facing directly to the ocean!

We have been staying at the Royal Haciendas since it opened 5-6 years ago. This resort is absolutely gorgeous! The beach is combed each morning. Snorkel from one side of the beach and kayak from the other side. The staff is magnificent. The landscaping is very well kept. The food is delicious. The buffet are reasonably priced. Plenty of reasonable priced happy hours. Free shuttle to Play Del Carmen's 5th Ave. for great food, entertainment and shopping.

Room Tip: All rooms come with their own unique view of the sea or the beautiful gardens in the court area

This resort exudes excellence in every respect! You are treated like royalty by every staff member and can't help but feel good about your stay. The landscaping is breathtaking and meticulously manicured. The food at the restaurants is delicious and reasonably priced. I learned to do scuba diving here a few years ago and this year took two awesome dives with the staff as they took us by boat over to Cozumel.

If you are considering this resort, DO IT! It's a no-brainer!
