“Great experience”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

We had a great experience at this resort. Staff was wonderful, food and service was excellent. Had no problems at all getting a reservation in the restaurants. Not sure why people were getting up at 7am to make the trip to the lobby to reserve a table because that's what the concierge at each building was there for! (among other things). We chatted up the concierge and then inquired about making a reservation, and both times the reservation was made was definitely after 1pm. Tried the Mexican and Steak House. The steak house was my favorite, best filet mignon I've ever had! The swing bar was our place to be in the evenings and once again, service was superb!

Now for the bad.....the sports bar sucked! After the show service was very slow as you had 100 + people going up to the bar afterwards to get a drink.

We tried again to have drinks in this bar on a second night and was absolutely shocked by what went on......a handful of people were having drinks, enjoying their holiday and then over at the bar was the two trashiest young women on the resort, they were on top of the bar, rolling around with their bits hanging out, putting their mouths on the beer taps and drinking straight from it. Knocking people's drinks all over them and then when these people communicated their displeasure of having their drinks spilled on them, the trash bags threatened violence against these people! Where was the bartender and security this whole time you ask, they were watching it!! It wasn't until one of these trash bags assaulted a security officer that they were removed from the bar. She was still hanging around the resort after that, which surprised us, she should have been put in a Mexican jail to teach her a lesson! If anyone from this resort is reading this, please don't let this happen again.

This did not spoil our overall experience thankfully. The attentiveness of the staff and the overall beauty of this resort out weighed this horrible experience. FYI, the beach is NOT as bad as people have said. It's gorgeous and the sandbags along the beach just happen to be in front of the VIP beach.

where to start...
Staff is completely incompetent. Front desk is unattended and there's no one to call after 11pm. We checked in after a late flight and they gave us malfunctioning keys. We had to wait and wait for a guy to call his boss over just to be let in.
They offered a golf cart from the lobby to the rooms on the other side of the resort but no one came. We walked back to the lobby to try to get working hotel keys but there was no one there. They also claimed there was only 1 key per room but later gave us 1 per person.
They ran out of wifi passwords (how does that even happen?)
The beach is pretty dirty.
The food is bad. The general buffet was arguably better than the sit down meals.
Staff speaks little English. Really hard to get anything fixed at this resort

Go to zoetry or dreams riviera. Any resort other than this disaster

We stayed for 14 days December 1 - 14 and had a great time. The staff were excellent, if we can single out a few; Jonathan the bar tender at the VIP bar, can't say enough good about him, excellent service, great source of information and very well spoken. The buffet staff were all great especially Ruperta, what a nice lady! The grounds were in excellent shape in spite of the rain they've had recently. The room was excellent, cleaned spotless every day and very comfortable. We had to deal with some minor issues at home while we were there and all of the concierge staff went out of their way to help us out- thanks again!! Eren managed to get us the room we had requested - Thanks Erin. The staff on the beach were good and then there are the bar tenders at the swing bar - can't believe you guys can remember what I like to drink!! Nothing to complain about!! Don & Denise - B.C. I travelled here with my fiancee for his birthday...I enjoyed it very much, the place is very nice and the people are very nice. I enjoyed all of it. The only negative remark is I believe the rooms need updating...it has wear and tear...the ceiling fans are old and the bathtubs need new caulking and tile, but thats about it...it was very relaxing and the food was good, except for the italian restaurant...awful!!!

This resort sold me a superior deluxe room for my son and I.Expected a room that had an upgrade but what i got was a room that was equal to a cheap motel room(no table to sit at,one chair and a dresser,no couch, nothing). To watch TV you had to lie on the bed's.The washroom had mold in the shower and a small tub with a shower curtain instead of a stall(discusting).A.C.leaked one nite leaving a pool of water(nearly fell during the nite). Tried to get an explanation for the room types and their english suddenly went south.Beach was held together by sand bags falling apart.one morning we watched as they cleaned the beach of kelp(lots)and instead of picking it up they instead dug a hole in the sand and burried it.A lot of standing water that smelt like a sewer.Little transportation around grounds(one double cart,around24 people at a time).I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE.Vacationer beware.

In this hotel we spent one night - between staying in the Occidental Grand Xcaret and Royal Club at Occidental Grand Xcaret! It was overbooking and we were offered to stay overnight in Blu Bay Grand Esmeralda.
Getting us the hotel we were met by a beautiful lobby and a pleasant smell, absolutely wasn't feeling of dampness as in Occidental Grand Xcaret, contrary was unbearably hot .
I do not know what the reason, may be there was a huge check-in or for one night we weren't here useful for anybody, but the attitude towards us was such as if we weren't there at all, or we were completely neglected by the rest of world .
The check-in procedure was long, we spent about an hour waiting. The room was not ready. But as we were told it would be ready in half an hour. After half an hour we went to the room, but as it turned out, cleaning it has not yet begun ...
I went again to swear at the front desk. And I was asked to wait another half an hour.
After half an hour we arrived at the room, which turned out to be cleaned, but the door to it was wide open (the first time I seen this). We waited another 15 minutes , one of the staff came and we settled ourselves.
It now remains to get our luggage . But, as it turned out - not so simple . We waited another half an hour - silence. I called 2 times at the front desk, but it was no result. I'm by myself, in the heat had to pick up our luggage and carry 3 suitcases to our building through the whole resort . Truly 5 ***** !
The hotel itself is modern, spacious grounds are pretty, but not very functional and built illogical. A plurality of callows with rotten water covered with mangroves between them laid asphalt paths on which the buggy rides to the beach and between the buildings. Liked the bungalow type buildings with the rooms with pool access. Looks beautiful and secluded . Throughout the hotel wandering flocks of cute coaties.))
Staff.
The staff is fully indifferent almost no one smile, all busy and nobody cares (after Grand Xcaret felt much difference ) .
Beach.
The beach is big - wide and long , plenty of umbrellas and sunbeds. But the sea is murky on the sloping bottom and a small sea depth in the area. Because of this, the sea seems dirty.
Restaurants .
Buffet in the Festival - a very modest, just sad . Buffet at the restaurant on the beach is nice but not super choice too. In restaurants a la carte, we have not got, because the day of arrival in places they did not have. But they looked stylish.
Large and interesting children's club with lots of activities for children on all days of the week.
As a result. So it a twofold sense...
It seems to be a modern hotel, but not strange tropical grounds with a rather low vegetation, monotonous meal can only give "average" . Generally , if you do not know what you're in Mexico and not pay attention to the coati - a complete sense of Egypt , - unbearably hot (lack of shade), meager buffet, noisy beach ....
I'm soory but there are better places.
