We have chosen the EkBalam - Cenote tour to combine this less known but remarkable Maya temple site with a refreshing Cenote watercave swimming experience.
We were lucky to have Josué Cruz as guide and driver of our 15p excursion. Remarkable in-depth explanations And perfect entertainment in both in english and spanish ! He captivated the audience during the whole day !
At the cenote we had the surprise to have a first-class authentic maya food with a special mention to the ‘pollo mole’ ... remarkable.
A refreshing ‘Mayarita’ , local and ameliorated version of the classic Margarita and a safe ride back to return at the hotels around 7pm.
Temple visit well worth ! You can even climb the main temple after having admired the great stuca paintings inside :but you have to climb to discover these !
Very hot day as usual but many places to shelter from the sun below the trees,
I recommend taking a towel with you to dry up your head and neck, as well as an umbrella (don’t laugh) which provides a far better protection than a hat or so....
Again thanks to Josué for his enlightening explanations
