Great location, near everything – restaurants, beach, nightlife etc, yet secluded enough so that you aren’t interrupted by the hustle and bustle.
Service was excellent – Henry (the manager) is huge asset to the business, he is a considerate, meticulous, courteous & knowledgeable professional. When we wanted to change rooms (for a bigger one) he & the staff accommodated us without hesitation.
Well organized – clean – professional service – great location – quiet – rooftop relaxation area – friendly staff…..everything you need for a hassle free stay.

We stayed in Hotel Cielo only one night. The location is perfect. It is next to the 5th Avenue, the busiest street in Playa del Carmen, but you cannot hear the noise from the bedroom (at least from ours). Henry, at the reception, is a very friendly and helpfull person. The room had a good size, the decoration was very mexican and very nice. From our room we could see the sea and the island of Cozumel in the background. It also has a terrasse from where you have excellent views of the Caribean Sea.
The breakfast was included. I had the huevos rancheros and I really liked them. The coffee was awful, but the rest was good.
I would definitly stay there again!

We stayed at Hotel Cielo for only 2 nights between Christmas and New Year. Our room, on the 1st floor and facing the front of the hotel, was very big, spacious and clean. We had two balconies and the only negative point about our particular room was that the bar a few doors down pumped up their music very loudly from around 7pm but by about 1am, the area was considerably a lot quieter - so much so that turning on the fan or the AC drowned out enough of the noise for us to fall asleep with no disturbance.

Hotel Cielo is a short walk to the ADO bus station but we had a rental car, and despite the hotel not having their own parking, we still found parking for a reasonable price a couple of blocks away. The hotel's proximity to 5th Avenue and the beach put everything we wanted at our doorstep and the hotel suited independent travelers like us just perfectly. I think if we were expecting a resort type hotel, we would have been very disappointed but Hotel Cielo met all of our expectations!

I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Cielo. My girlfriend and I stayed in room 11 (with the balcony) and we loved every minute of it. Take advantage of Henry's knowledge of the town and I promise you will find tremendous places to eat for half the price of what you will pay at a restaurant on 5th.

This small, quaint hotel is a great place to stay while enjoying Playa Del Carmen and Surrounding areas. The staff is wonderful. The room is clean. For the price, I can't see staying anywhere else in Playa. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I really liked this hotel. Day 3 of our trip in Mexico, we found ourselves in a town we didn't want to be in and wanted to get to Playa earlier than we'd planned, so we called Henry and he was able to move up our reservation and give us a balcony room. It was a little noisy overlooking the street, but we had the fan on, which blocked it out enough for good sleep in the huge bed.

The room was sunny and clean, spacious and comfortable. And the breakfast at the hotel restaurant was tasty.

I stayed at Hotel Cielo recently by myself to do some diving in Playa Del Carmen. It's low season so I didn't bother with reservations. I just walked up the 5'th ave from the bus station and went to the first Hotel on my list of possibles. I was offered a room with a double bed on the second floor. Tv, air con, ceiling fan, wireless internet access from my room and breakfast for $33 or 429 pesos. Surprisingly quiet since it is on 4'th st just steps from the main drag, 5'th ave. Breakfast was a limited choice but good enough for me. i usually had mexican style eggs with beans and toast. Very friendly staff
The restaurant, Carboncitos, gets a lot of good reviews which I don't agree with. It is adequate but nothing more. Really good mexican food can be had on 30'th ave' about a 10-15 minute walk from 5'th. El Fogon and La Pesca in particular. Carboncitos has a good location and okay food and prices for 5'th but doesn't compare with 30'th ave restaurants.
