I'll start off by letting you know that the only downfall to my incredible stay here... was that at some point it had to come to an end (and i did extend twice!)

I frequently travel to the Mayan Riviera as the beach here is unparalleled, and often stay in different accommodations searching for places that "do it right". To put it simply, Hotel Cielo is raising the bar for the hotels in Playa del Carmen. This spot is a true gem with an unbeatable location, immaculate rooms and a truly hospitable staff.

My second floor room was very reasonably priced and pristine in terms of cleanliness (as was the entire hotel). The decor was simple yet tastefully executed and exuded an authentic Mexican charm. Every time I turned around I found a hard worker making the place "shine" to its best.

The staff throughout the entire hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. They set up all of my transportation needs without a glitch, provided me with wake up calls when requested and gave me the best of recommendations for restaurants and activities.

The location is ideal for excellent dining & shopping options (although I'll warn you - you may not stray away from their own restaurant, Carboncitos as the food is exquisite). The beach is within very short walking distance and perfect for a day of relaxation. And for the more adventurous - there are many options for visiting nearby Cenotes and jungle excursions (just inquire at the front desk!)

I will most definitely return and without a doubt recommend it to my family and friends. Thank you again to the owners and staff for a remarkable stay - your hard work and excellent customer service did not go unrecognized!!!

We stayed here after flying into Cancun on our way to Cozumel. The hotel is a short walk from the ADO bus station and was a welcome sight after a day of traveling. They greeted us by name and settled us into a cozy room. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant, slept soundly in the quiet room, and awoke to enjoy a delicious breakfast at half price in the restaurant. A short walk to the ferry took us to Cozumel, but we agreed that we would love to stay in this charming hotel for a longer stay next time. Close to the beach and shops, excellent service and food, comfortable rooms, all at a great price. No pool or fitness center, but who needs them when the beach is within sight? Would highly recommend this hotel for a stopover in Playa, or a longer stay to enjoy the area.

There are places you travel far for that you have plans set in mind. Waking up at hotel Cielo starts with a great breakfast then the adventure begins. From a relaxing day on the beach with great ceviche or zip line in the jungle. It is all there to do as little or as much as you want. Cielo is located in the heart of everything. The staff is always giving great advise of where to go and what to do to make the most of your time in Playa del Carmen or neighboring towns. I recomment this hotel for an easy nad accomadating vacation spot!

I've stayed here 3 times now and will stay there again next time . I love that it is a smaller hotel, I think you get much better service...perfect location right off the main strip of restaurants and shops and close to everything, beach, ferry etc and everyone is super friendly.

To be honest this hotel has a good price value and a great location close to the beach and the center of Playa but...
After staying here for 4 nights this September we both felt sick with headaches and found out it was because the molt caused by the humidity in this hotel. Sure in the rainy season you cannot avoid the water coming from above but the hotel should take precautions that this doesn't affect the rooms and the health of their guest. The staff was not so friendy and pretty oblivious to us leaving due to the molt in the rooms.

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty dark, lots of them don't have any daylight

Thank you Christa for your review.

I apologize for the humid smell, but unfortunately due to an unusual amount of rain fall (3 weeks of rain !!) there's not much we could do about this, even US standards water problems would arise

The buildings in this region are not built to US standards & myself being in the construction business for over 30 years, we are doing or best to try to control this.

As for the staff , I am very confused about your comment, they are well trained for situations like this, they are very sympathetic & I am sure they would have upgraded you had you asked..... especially since Sept. is slow season & we are not full.

This is very uncommon in our reviews & will be addressed at our next meeting.

We are truly sorry we did not meet your expectations, but please know this, we are always working our hardest to improve

Christa, we know there are many hotels I Playa del Carmen, so thank you for choosing Hotel Cielo

They hotel was cozy and comfortable. Super convenient location only a 3 minute walk to the Ado bus station or beach. 6 minute walk to Cozumel ferry and 30 second walk to 5th Avenue where all the hustle and bustle is. Even though it was close to the high street I did not experience any disturbance in sleep from any noise. The room itself was perfect for me. Double bed with ensuite washroom with shower. The room was nicely decorated and I love the authentic Mexican charm is possessed. It has everything you need from toiletries to clean sheets and towel. Because it is so hot not much bedding is needed but the AC works wonderfully as well as the fan. I didn't even find the need to turn on the TV, but its there just in case. There is an in room safe that you must place a deposit to use, but even without is I felt it was extremely safe as there is always someone at the front desk. The staff was wonderful from the cleaning staff to the front desk as well as the manager whom I met on a few occasions. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Internet had superb connection. The only downfall would be that the do not have a pool, BUT you really don't need one as the beach is a stones throw away and is a much better option. Foods not an issue as the restaurant downstairs makes wonderful dishes with the benefit of good discounts, otherwise they recommend other places as well, within walking distance. If you dive and are in Playa try a cenote dive, CenoteXperience is highly recommended.
