We affectionately serve Play's only authentic, Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza, as well as old-school spaghetti and meatballs, and shrimp, chicken, delicious salads, and much more. We went for dinner with friends last week and the food was amazing. We tried both the pizza and the pasta with meatballs. The pasta was amazing, large tasty meatballs in a lush tomato sauce. Heaven!! The pizza was even better. Aptly named pizza Love, the pizza featured pears, a scrumptious rosemary-walnut pesto, and a melt in your mouth deep dish crust that was to die for. Toasted garlic bread on the side was terrific too. Prices were reasonable and the staff was super friendly and attentive. We had a great evening and will definately return!

A deep crust Chicago style pizza has finally arrived in Playa at Don Chendo. Nice fresh tomato sauce and tasty toppings all contribute to the success of these pizzas. The antipasta salad was very good. Service is excellent.

What a fabulous last night in Playa! We were told about this restaurant by some people we met and decided to give it a try. So happy we did. My husband and I tried two different pasta dishes and both were amazingly delicious. There was plenty of food we could have had one pasta dish to share as well as the ceasars salad and dessert as they looked very appealing. We will definitely go back next time in Playa sorry we didn't hear about Don Chendo till our last night or we would have had a few more dinners there. Give it a try you will love it.

I took 4 of my friends to Don Chendo last night (East side of 30th Ave, 2nd business N of the 24th St intersection). They are well-traveled and critical foodies who were hesitant about American-Italian food in Playa. They loved it!!! They loved the food, the simple but comfortable decor, the service, the portions (huge) and the brownies. We mostly had salads, pizza and spaghetti and meatballs...it was all delicious, well prepared, well presented...and came with a visit from the chef. Jimmy was our server who poured a mean glass of wine, was attentive to what we needed, suggested things to us, and made our evening out very pleasant. Kudos to all of the staff for a job well-done.

We went to Don Chendo during our recent trip to Playa when another restaurant we tried to go to was closed. One of our group had read about it on a Playa blog and thought it was worth a go- and it was. Good atmosphere, good prices, GREAT FOOD. And bonus, it's off 5th, so if you're trying to get away from so much commercial, touristy stuff, it's perfect. We had the fettuccini with garlic alfredo sauce and chicken, the pasta with peppers and chorizo, and pizza. We were also introduced to their mint chlorophyll water- something we'd never had before, which wasn't bad (don't know if we'd ever find that in the States.) And if they suggest the brownie and ice cream to you, GET IT!
