“Nice Little Mexican Hotel For a Good Price”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

We stayed here one night on our trip to the Yucatan in November, and found this hotel very good.
It's location is off the beaten path a little, which is good. It is quiet and away from the very aggressive vendors on the strip! The room was very nice and the continental breakfast was good as well.

I did spend 4 weeks at Casa de las Flores a couple of years ago, during a language course. It was always clean and quiet, and the staff was always very friendly. Just a few blocks away from the "Quinta" and the beach, a couple of minutes walking distance.
When i return to Playa I for sure want to stay there again!

Off the beaten path a little, Casa de las Flores is a hidden gem. It may not look like much from a block away, but the hotel is tastefully and artistically decorated once you follow the path back. One of my favorite parts is that there are tons of little nooks all throughout the gardens to sit and eat, drink a cup of coffee, or catch up on a good read. The king size bed lulled me to sleep quicker than my own bed at home. The rooms are spotless - the staff scrubs them down meticulously every day (including mopping, cleaning bathroom, taking out the trash, etc). They turn down the beds every afternoon, bring fresh towels everyday, and replace the sheets every two or three nights.

Ah, now for my least favorite part. The only things (trivial, really) I wish were just a little different:

The pool is just a little scummy. There was a light film on the top, and the walls had a light greenish tint. If they would spend the time scrubbing the pool once a week, it would shine.

It's about 30 pesos for breakfast (coffee, juice, cereal). For such a small selection and classy hotel, I wish that the breakfast was included. However, the little breakfast room has a beautiful vibe with white tablecloths and silver.

***TIPS: This hotel has a private shuttle to and from the airport, but it is actually more expensive than the ADO first class bus. The front desk also has brochures with excursion prices to local attractions (did not use any, but I noticed a good selection if you get bored!)

Anyway, after staying in little hostels throughout MX for two weeks, we truly felt like royalty at Casa. The staff is wonderful. Without fail, every time you leave or come back, someone greets you with a smile. What truly stood out to us though more than anything was this: When we told the staff there that we would come back after talking to a few other places about their prices (our original hotel plans backfired, so we were shopping), they responded with (what translates from Spanish to English as) "always your servant." And they truly meant it.

Hotel Casa des las Flores is a small, family hotel in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The hotel is four blocks from the beach, perfectly situated on Avenue 20 between Calle 4 and 6. My wife and I are repeat customers and absolutely love the hotel, location, and wonderful hotel staff. We like the hotel and staff so much, in fact, that we got married there.

Hotel
The hotel is lovely, brightly colored with beautiful arches, a tiled and covered portico, small swimming pool, and gorgeous gardens. There are many trees in the courtyard, so expect to wake up to birdsong - a great way to wake up! The rooms are large, with very good air conditioning. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-furnished.

Location
What we love most about the location of Casa des las Flores is the convenience. You are close to the beach and the main strip -- just a quick walk away -- yet are not surrounded by tourists. There are good, inexpensive restaurants all around, the neighborhood is very safe, and you have easy access to corner stores, shopping, and even large grocery stores if you want.

Staff
The staff at Casa des las Flores are simply amazing. In 2011 on vacation we had such a great experience with them that we decided to come back and get married at the hotel. We rented the entire hotel for a week for friends and family in 2012 and had our wedding in the garden courtyard. Here is what the staff and owners did without being asked and at no cost to us: bought floral bouquets for us, bought us a wedding gift, hired someone to come decorate the portico with fabric, set up a sound system for music for the wedding and dance, offered to drive us to any stores we wanted to buy whatever we needed, made up our honeymoon room with flower petals spelling "love" and decorated our room amazingly...the list goes on, including arranging taxis for people to get to the airport, driving my father in law to the bus depot, and returning every lost item our guests misplaced...yes, including my wallet!

I cannot emphasize enough the excellent service, friendly atmosphere, comfortable rooms and great location. Stay away from overpriced and overcrowded resorts that serve lousy food, isolate you from people in the country you came to visit, and treat you like a felon every time you try to enter or leave. Stay at Casa des las Flores, eat at good but inexpensive restaurants in the neighborhood, support local businesses and meet local people.

We booked this hotel based off TripAdvisor reviews and were very pleased with the spacious room and bed. The rooms surround a small courtyard at least 5 F cooler than the street. From the Cozumel ferry terminal and bus station it's a 4-6 block walk. The place seems spotless, with friendly and competent staff (although not completely fluent in English), a small 1.24-meter wading pool, and free wifi. The room had a full bathroom, working refrigerator (no extra charge), a safe, and a/c (but we didn't try to turn it on due to cool breezes). We paid 750 pesos in early May, but it was the beginning of low season and the hotel wasn't full. Seemed like a good value compared to other hotels although it's not on the main drag.

My husband Carlos and I stayed for several nights way back in approx 2000. It was one of your first years of operation. I see that you have only made it more beautiful and lush. My first and lasting impression was that of comfort. We felt welcomed even though we were travel weary when we arrived. We really enjoyed our stay in Playa, but your hotel was one of the main reasons. Thanx.

This hotel is located about 6 blocks from the beach and is only 3 blocks from all the shops at "5th avenue" The hotel is very clean, very quiet. Refrigerated air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the room confortable. Just a two blocks to wal mart and within walking distance to some great restaurants. They have coffee and other breakfast items, although not a full breaktfast for about $3.00. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Hotel has a small pool and the courtyard is a very relaxing place to be. Far enough away from the tourist area to be quiet yet close enough that a quick walk and you will be in the thick of the tourist zone. Also close to several internet cafes and laundries.
