Excellent accommodations for a very reasonable price. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. The pool on the roof had a beautiful view, and the location was right next to the beach.

We went at april. The location is the best, right on the main road but no noise.
The wifi wasnt working good, the water took more then 10 min to be hot and the water pressure is vert low.
The beds are hard like a rock.
It was nice for one night and thats is.

Excellent stay, close to all the action without the noise. The air conditioner broke and they immediately sent a tech to fix it. I would stay there again. The rooms are large and clean. The only thing that I did not like was the key system to the room, if you want to go out and leave someone sleeping, lock the door from the outside the person inside cannot get out.

Room tip: Rooms in the fourth floor are by the pool.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Illusion. We were only there one night, but the customer service was over the top! They greeted us with cookies and drinks and the breakfast the following day was just right. We weren't flying home from Playa until later in the day, but they let us leave our bags AND provided a free room for us to shower and change in after returning from the Cenotes. I can't express how that is literally unheard of. We had a great stay!

Room tip: Ask if they have a room with an outward facing window (this will allow more light into the room and give you more privacy).

Had a really great time at this hotel for my wife's birthday; the entire hotel staff was incredibly warm, kind, and friendly, and we can't thank them enough. Only critiques -- some of which are entirely out of their control are:

1. Can't open most windows to enjoy the beautiful ocean breeze; had to rely on AC

2. At night time, can't open the small bedside windows due to loud music outside; others may not be bothered by this though

3. AC is hard to regulate -- gets TOO cold! -- but if you set it to a relatively high 24*C that seems to do the trick

4. about 20 min walk to Mamita's Beach / Kool Club which is definitely the best place to swim; that said, it's totally central / equidistant to everything in Playa

5. Water pressure: showers (and toilet) desperately need more water pressure

6. Do not come for the pool: it's uselessly small, and has no swim-up bar (well, there IS a place for a bar, like, there's a counter and stools to swim up to / sit on, but there's never anybody there, no drinks set out, etc; hence my answer below that there is no swim up bar)

Room tip: Make sure you face the ocean and NOT the street
