“Its an advertising illusion !!”
Reviewed April 20, 2012 via mobile

Stayed in the illusion in March. Well situated a short walk from the beach and main street, extremely friendly helpful staff but that is where the good things end ! The room was what we would say was devoid of any luxury, no wardrobe, no plug in the washbasin, as for the 'minibar', read small refrigerator under the tv. The continental breakfast was a total disappointment, wait a lifetime for the ancient toast machines and then proceed to the slightly warm water for tea making, butter either frozen solid or liquid, eggs will be extra sir ! Add to all that the aircon machine outside our door that would wake the dead. All in all , apart from the staff, very disappointed and would not use again at half the price.

Dear Ambassadors,
whether we like it or not, sometimes we have to face the consequences of a guest's opinion that is not totally as we would like it to be. While we try really hard in making everyone's stay as pleasant as possible, we also have to accept criticism and obviously do something about it. From the time you stayed with us, we have made substantial improvements to the guest experience, especially in the food and beverage part. Apart from having totally refurbished the look of the restaurant, we have also enhanced the quality of our offer and therefore conceptualized the "Casa Nostra" breakfast: an evolution of the Continental breakfast featuring homemade breads and croissants, marmalades, very natural juices, yogurts, dehydrated fruits and much, much more, in an effort of trying to provide a meal experience that sets the mood of the day right from the start . We have received very positive comments about these enhancements and will make sure we will continue providing improvements in order to respond both to the positive and negative criticism that we received in the past. It goes by itself that for people who consider themselves professionals, it is not convenient at all to receive negative feedback from our clients. This is why we have taken very good care of your comments, made to the relevant improvements also in the rooms, and shared each one of your concerns with our team of executive hospitality devotees. We are definitely learning day after day. We we would love to get a second chance and being able to prove you that we can deliver what we promise. Kindly get back in contact with us in order to arrange your future stay with the assurance that on that occasion, will not fail.
We look forward to hearing from you again.

Not impressed, particularly considering the price. Upon arrival, reception couldn't find our pre-paid reservations and subsequently we were given a room that had one small window looking to nothing, about 2' by 2' and the ac wasn't functioning properly. Next morning we requested another room and they wanted to charge us an extra $20. per night, this is after paying AU$ 375.18 for three nights, we bargained for $10., my mate speaks fluent Spanish, so this helped. The room was spacious and pleasant, on the same floor as the plunge pool. Upon check out there was a smart alec male receptionist who is a bit of a con artist, read prior reviews and this must be the same wise guy, he 'accidentally' charged our card for someone else's expenses, apologized and asked why I didn't trust him, well, I told him whilst trying to be civil, there were guests listenting to every word I said. Yes, the remaining staff were pleasant and the establishment is clean, but "No way, Jose" would I stay there again, definitely not value for your hard earned money.

We stayed here for the first two weeks of April and were pleasantly surprised to say the least. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and for us that is a huge deal. The room attendants had limited English but not really an issue as we still enjoyed teasing our guy Rigoberto who could give as good as he got. Front desk staff have excellent English and will go out of their way to help in any way they can. The hotel probably has one of the best locations in Playa if you don't have to be right on the beach which is only 200 meters down the road. We ended up with the master suite which was ideal as it had a kitchen, dining table, king bed, tons of storage space so you could unpack, double sink and double shower heads. Because you are on the fourth floor corner room you have an unobstructed view of the ocean and what a view. Outside this room you have a ten by twenty private patio area, two loungers and table and chairs. The dipping pool is ten feet from your front door and we pretty much lived in it when it was so hot out.
We took the opportunity to peek in several other rooms as they were being cleaned and think minus the kitchen we would have been content in all the of them except the inner courtyard ones. The reason though is we prefer to see constant action and frankly you aren't going to see that looking down to the courtyard, just a personal preferrence though.
This hotel is also very quiet so you won't be disturbed by the night clubs two blocks away. I would say this being my second boutique hotel, all others will now be compared to this and I will be hard pressed to find that excellent combination of great staff/great hotel.

Room Tip: Get the master suite if you can. We cooked most breakfasts and a few lunches and saved roughly $80.0...

If you are looking for something a bit smaller and cozier, this is the place. It is located in the heart of the city and up the block from the beach. A few minutes walk to wonderful restaurants and shopping. The staff was very friendly and informed. All of the restaurant recommendations were excellent. We took the ferry to Cozumel for a day of snorkeling-only 45 minutes to get there & a 10 minutewalk from the hotel. My wife particularly liked the fresh cut flowers that were placed on the bed and pillows.

Room Tip: We loved the 4th floor by the pool and facing the ocean.

The location of the hotel was exelent. But the hotel was not worth all the money, that it costed.
The breakfast was very poor, so I recommend yuo not to take breakfast at the hotel. Coffee at the lobby is free, so all you need to do, is to buy something to eat from the store,
Some of the rooms were noisy, because there was only a door to the next room...
But when we wanted to change the room, it was very easy.
The swimmingpool is very small but the place on the roof was nice.

Loved this hotel in Playa Del Carmen. The best thing about this is its location. Its right next to the beach and the main street 5th avenue. We didn't have to go anywhere to visit the best places at Playa.
The staff was very helpful, giving us excellent recommendations for places to eat and see. They also helped us find tours to go and see places like Tulum. (Thanks Mauricio for the help).
The rooms were large and clean, and the staff cleaned our room everyday making it a nice trip.

Will stay here again.
