I've now tried two different locations for this place and always find it greasy. The food tastes good for the most part, but is just so unhealthy I can't enjoy it.

Food tastes good, waiting times are minimal and portion size is big. Service is friendly. Celiacs beware, seems that most of the foods are contaminated with wheat. Tortillas are also made of wheat. other than that, a good choice.

When we travelled to Playa last year, we asked our driver where to find the best tacos in town and he pointed out El Fagon. Our husbands loved it but us ladies were hesitant. This year, we ventured to El Fagon immediately to try these infamous tacos. We needed to go to Mega across the street, so why not try it. It - Was - Amazing!!! We went back several times for Tacos El Pastor or the Chorizo Tacos. We can't believe that we have to wait another year for El Fagon's amazing tacos!

My husband and I just happened by this restaurant, saw that it was packed, so we stopped in. We were glad we did! The food was great, although not the BEST I've had in Mexico. The place was full of locals and tourists alike, so you know it was good. It cost a bit more than we expected to pay, but given that it's close to 5th Avenue, it's to be expected. Two ppl, dinner & drinks = $60. You can get a better meal for much less money if you venture out farther from the tourist center.

Make the trek to El Fogon.....your craving for authentic tacos and Mexican dishes will be satisfied. El Fogon has the #1 taco al pastor in Playa. Directly across from the Mega Mart you cannot miss it.....open flame grill fires up late in the afternoon. Try the Chorizo OMG....and grilled onions. Throw back a few beers and pig out on tacos. You can thank me later.
