This coffee shop is located near the very end of 5th Avenue - the quiet end. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. You can sit here all day if you want to - the walls are completing opened in the morning - great for people watching or calling to friends as they pass by. Newspapers in English and Spanish are available. They even have a rack of books - you're welcome to borrow one - and please leave behind any that you've read while on your vacation.
The highlight of this shop is the onsite roasting machine. Twice a week it's loaded up and the beans are roasted and ground. I was staying in a condo half a block away and the aroma saturating the neighborhood was always such a treat. The owners are charming (please say Hola for me) and sure to see that you have what you need. The coffee? Well, it's definitely freshly roasted so it's absolutely delicious. You can order an Americano or any number of wonderful flavored coffees. Try the one with cinnamon and vanilla.
As with a lot of places in Mexico, you might have to ask them to fill the coffee cup right to the top - a lo más alto y muy caliente, por favor - if only so you can stay longer to enjoy the atmosphere.
And...if it's a hot, hot day and a hot coffee doesn't appeal to you, order the ice cold, freshly blended juice, with a slight taste of lime. Delicioso!
