We are always looking and finding new surprises here in Playa del Carmen. There is a constantly changing restaurant scene with great local and international choices. The is a stand out and will likely be around a long time. Great atmosphere and service. The meat is as fine as you will find.

The service was excellent and very attentive, unfortunately this is where my positive critic ends.
It was our first time in this restaurant that opened a few weeks ago. As full time residents of Playa, we are always on the lookout for new and interesting venues to dine out.

The first and only special request one of my guests made, was very simple: please replace the potatoes that come with the Milanese cutlet with a handful of pasta, whatever is at hand. The answer was an unequivocal no. The potatoes will come with the dish and we will charge you for an extra plate of spaghetti with garlic and oil. Never mind that all we want is to replace a handful of potatoes with a handful of pasta.

This attitude is difficult to understand especially in a restaurant that bolsters a full page of pasta on its menu. The menu is the menu and if for any reason you want to adapt it to your likings, go somewhere else. By the way this is exactly what we will do, because the meal was rather bland and disappointing.

For starters we had the minestrone, the prosciutto platter and the spinach and goat cheese salad. None of us was impressed by the presentation or the taste, very ordinary, bordering on bad. For example the salad was not made of whole leaves but had obviously been cut into tiny pieces with scissors, the minestrone was made with an over diluted clear broth and the prosciutto was of poor quality.

The main dishes were equally disappointing. Since this place prides itself as an Italian restaurant with excellent grilled meat, we all went for the meat. The Milanese cutlets were not overcooked but a bit dry and as for the ossobuco, it had obviously not been slow cooked long enough since it remained chewy, all of the dishes, without any exception were seriously lacking spices which made everything quite forgettable.

All of this at a cost equivalent to a very good restaurant, so if this is what you are looking for, better go somewhere else.

This Italian-style steakhouse has an open, airy feel, with its light-coloured floorboards and brick columns. You can watch the passing parade from most of the tables. There is a squad of waiters who are very professional, so the service is good. Steak is king here, although they also do fresh made pasta. The various cuts of meat are on display and the staff are happy to show them to you and tell you what they weigh (most cuts are sold by weight). We had the filetto di manzo, for which they charged 110 pesos/100 grams. This made 330 pesos for a very substantial 300 gram filet - about the same price as most places were selling a 250 gram filet, so good value. We had the steaks medium-rare and they arrived perfectly cooked. We had sides of fries and shared a salad of goats cheese, arugula, radicchio and beet root. Both good. The bread (always a basic barometer of restaurant quality) was fresh, crusty and delicious. We had a glass of wine each and my biggest complaint about the restaurant is that they only offered two reds by the glass, both merlot (not my favourite variety, how about a Malbec guys?)
