If shopping is your game....this is your playground in the area.

Took my teenager daughter on a dull day & she loved it. Perfect for a spot of retail therapy. She loved the new shopping area & it was a nice touch having a Pandora outlet to top up her collection of charms, good value compared to the U.K. Pandora too, I found that you save about 30% off the RRP...it all helps when you have a daughter with expensive taste.

You can pick up good prices on the high end branded cosmetics too, such as Clinique , bio therm , clarin & they even have a Mac store. Much better range than expected, and better prices than Cancun airport, get your perfumes etc here if you want to save money.

It's a retail jungle out there!

Any and everything in Playa is available on Quinta, for a price. Late nights have all kinds of street performers and artists.

If you are going to be in the riviera maya you need to check this gem out! Shop after shop after shop and restaurants galore. You need to go into this with good spirits as they do tend to come off pushy but if not interested a simple no thanks and carry on. The beaches there are also so beautiful and the cozumel shuttle docks right by senor frogs which is another definite must!

I stayed in a hotel that was 20 yards from 5th avenue and that was PLENTY close. Its convenient to have an assortment of retailers so close to your hotel....its not that convenient when you intentionally start walking a street over to avoid it and the aggressive merchants. I mean, I get it...they're trying to sell their wares, tourism is the main industry....it can just get a little overwhelming and frankly old.

I still gave it a 4 because there ARE a great assortment of stores, its usually very well maintained, minimal trash strewn about, and security is not an issue at all. I was probably referred to as "Brown Sugar" by the vendors at least 40 times in 5 days on 5th Ave, annoying - yes....Uncomfortable - no. Having said that, prepare to be HEAVILY solicited on this strip and take your patience with you!

This is a cool street to visit...lots of vendors, artists, restaurants, and stores to visit. I personally don't like the touristy feel, but we stayed right off of Quinta Avenida, so I really only walked on this street to get to somewhere else. You get hassled by people trying to sell you stuff literally every 5 seconds. And the prices are pretty ridiculous...For example, I paid $70 pesos for a pair of earrings in Chichen Itza and was offered a similar pair on Quinta Avenida for around $1,500 pesos. (Ridiculous!) Could have just been the store, but I found in general the vendors elsewhere were way cheaper. I also found you couldn't casually stroll the street and browse the different stores because of how aggressive the sales people are. We avoided this area for that reason...it just became frustrating having to constantly avoid or refuse their offers.
