Went because of friends recommending ! glad we did !! nice interesting, yes, french menu !
Ordered different starters and main courses to share and try out the place, all very nice with a few remarks though; duck liver terrine; a little too "naturelle", prefer the seasoning inside and not on the side on the plate, get a nicer mold to make the terrine!
Asked for the Steak medium; was served medium red to red but taken car of quickly.
CHECK the flavor of the onion soup !! big lack of flavor in that one ! Change the picture here in TA; looks a lot better - specially at night - than on this pic. Would also be nice if the Chef dresses like one, not in bermudas & shirt..
Nice detail to keep red wine chilled while served outside !!
Not cheap but very worthwhile

“Brilliant - some of the best food in PDC!!”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

A great setting, close to the beach and the main 5th avenue drag...but out of the way enough to make it a little more intimate.
The food is true to its French roots, and although eating French food in Mexico may seem a little unusual, it's absolutely worth it! It's beautifully prepared and in all honesty, one of the best meals we've had in the last few weeks in Central America (and we love Mexican food)!
The service is impeccable and the wine, like any French restaurant, is top quality. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!! A meal like this in Europe will cost you twice what we paid.

“Vive la France”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

I read about this place before heading for Playa and was excited to try a new restaurant, especially a French restaurant, because they are few and far between in Playa.
We stopped by during a walk on Monday and were disappointed to see what looked like construction still going on. However we did return and found that completion of some flooring goes on each Monday (when the restaurant is closed).
The setting is very nice, just off fifth avenue and far enough away from the 'mad' section to be quite peaceful.
Food and service were excellent. Eggs Cocotte with truffle sauce was simple but delicious (I still want them to email me the recipe!). As someone else has already stated, the duck a l'orange was prepared just so, very tender with a sauce that did not overwhelm the flavor of the meat. Potatoes and vegetable were very well prepared and tasty.
prices are reasonable and the owner/chef and his charming wife were genuinely pleased to hear our positive comments. They obviously take pride in their business.
Definitely one for the list when we return to Playa.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed June 30, 2012 via mobile

Delightful french restaurant hidden off "new" 5th avenue near corner of 38th. A relaxing setting under the trees serving simple French food with high quality ingredients. We had an excellent magret de canard served Rose( very pink), exactly the way you should eat duck. It was accompanied by an excellent dauphinoise. The short wine list has french, chilean, american and mexican wines. We had an interesting Mexican chenin blanc from Casa Modero. Highly recommended and deserves to be successful.

“A new French restaurant with fine, traditional dishes”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Cocotte Cita is owned by a young chef, originally from Normandy, and his wife. The evolving menu, dinner only, includes: chicken in a clay pot, petit filet with a choice of three sauces, duck a l'orange, and the special of the week was bouillabaisse. The chocolate souffle was one of the best. The waiter / sommelier from Paris provides excellent service. They compare well to Como Como and Oh Lala. We are going again next week.
