My Mexican girlfriend and I (English) took a 4 night break here leaving the baby with the grandparents in central mexico. We booked an Oceanfront Junior Preferred Club King, paying about 300-400 USD extra total as opposed to the Ocean View rooms. As others have said the resort is U shaped with the 2 ends of the U right next to Ocean and the few Oceanfront rooms are here on both sides facing the Ocean. Ours was room 254 on the 2nd floor and had the added benefit of being on the corner so we had a slightly bigger terrace and excellent views of the Ocean on the corner side. The ground floor rooms below looked even better if you dont mind the threat of more bugs crabs ect. They have brilliant access from the terrace to the beach and most are very quiet. A tip would be room 157 directly below our room 254. This is quiet with perfect access. I will go for this next time. The food was good to very good our favourite being the Cactus Club for lunch with great Ceviche and Tacos. One night we went to the Ocean Grill which was good and another we took room service which was Ok. We had one night in Playa at the Yaxche (see separate review) and went to the Mexican Fiesta buffet which was only average until we saw the taco and tamales station hidden in the corner along with the, until then, conspiciously missing salsas which are absolutely necessary at such an event. That station made my and my Mexican girlfriend's night although if you dont want to share a table at this event just grab a plate and sit on a sunlounger. Breakfast buffet was really good with plenty of Mexican choices and salsas. Entertainment team were very good. Saw a few of the things including an hilarious Karaoke night dominated by a group of Texans who couldn't sing or choose a decent song but it was all good fun. Loved the pool and beach and the compact size of the resort in general. You can have an incredibly relaxing time here. You get a very accurate picture in general if you read enough of the reviews on this site. It was exactly what we expected. Take a walk along the beach towards Playa. We walked nearly to the Grand Velas passing a number of resorts including the top rated Rosewood Mayakoba and Banyan Tree. I think the Secrets is good value given we tracked prices on a lot of resorts over several months. Not much to fault. Perhaps hot salsas by default at all the restaurants especially the Cactus Club although they brought some habenero salsa when we asked. However, it didnt turn up when we asked at Ocean grill or room service. If you get ill there is a doctor on site but be ready to cough up 120 USD in advance.

This has to be one of my favorite adult only resorts to date. My husband and I do a lot of traveling and the service and grounds were top notch and the food was exceptional. The romantic dinner planned for both couples was exquisite and Enrique was the best waiter ever! We'll definitely go back.

We stayed in the secret hotel on our honeymoon and we could not have been happier, the hotel was amazing and we experienced the epitome of luxury. We were greeted at the door with nice refreshing cocktail, checking in was very quick, our bags were immediately taken and put up into our room, when we reached our room there was a happy honeymoon memento on the door. The hygiene and cleanliness throughout the hotel was very high. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. This was an adults only hotel and it resulted in a very romantic atmosphere. The food was lovely with plenty of choice and a number of onsite restaurants to eat from.

I highly recommend the spa facilities on site. We were thoroughly pampered here and it all added to our fantastic honeymoon experience. We went on a day trip snorkelling alone the second biggest barrier reef and we were delighted with the tour guide and how they valued the marine life and the special care and attention they provided to the entire tour group. Watch out for the Mayan sacrifice! Not for the faint hearted but brilliant fun.

One word of warning, do not feed the birds! We made this mistake and they become quite agressive and cheeky!

Room Tip: All rooms are fabulous request one facing the pool or the ocean if possible but I doubt any will dis...

We decided to book at secrets Capri six months ago as a group of 14 people. Having been to three other resorts in Playa Del Carmen I'd rank this up there as one of the best we have stayed at so far. The beach was easy to access and very clean, the rooms were clean and cold, and the food at all of the restaurants was very good. They also had pretty much every type of premium liquor you could want.

We liked this resort specifically because everything was very close together. Be careful when you check in as some of the members in our group got hounded about timeshares for 30 minutes or longer.

Room service was very good and very fast. The bar staff at the nightclub specifically Daniel was very friendly. The swim up bar was okay, and the daily volleyball was fun, but short. Al shows everyone a good time there. Charlie was the best waiter on the beach.

We went to Secrets Capri Riviera from July 7, 2014 to July 15, 2014. We arrived at the hotel after midnight and hadn't eaten anything since earlier in the day, so we ordered room service. The food was good and arrived promptly for the hour we ordered. The first day we spent arranging tours for the week with Best Day Travel. We wanted to spend half the time at the hotel and half the time on excursions. We booked a trip to xcaret and one to Chic hen etza to see the myan pyramids. Xcaret is okay. The rivers and caves are really different and it was fun, however all the big stuff is extra so bring your wallet. The myan pyramids are a must see. We loved it! We also took the ferry to cozumel for the day. They have the best snorkeling we have ever experienced. We rented a jeep and drove around the island as well. Great trip all around. At the hotel we bought a spa pacage, which was amazing. The spa is top notch and you feel like your in a hidden oasis. We utilized the beach area sevearl times and the cabanas are a wonderful way to enjoy the beach without being in the sun all day. We participated in some of the daily activities the hotel has organized, which we enjoyed, and went on a ride on a catamaran. The food we great! The shows were good and the service from all the staff was top notch. Alll in all we can't wait to go back again!

Most beautiful hotel and beach! The food was amazing....You must go to Seaside and get the Schrimp rolls and make sure to go to the Hibachi and order the Hitmitsu roll. Ask for Juan at the pool bar he is amazing or Oscar at the beach either way they will take care of you. Out of all the shows make sure to go to the Aquatic show...it was amazing!! The Lagoon is a 15 minute walk down the beach but soo worth it, bring your camera and a snorkel! We will definitely be coming back. We had such an amazing time with our friend and made friends with another couple while down there. You cannot go wrong with this resort. I don't know how anyone can have anything bad to say about it. Simple Amazing!!

I agree with most of the positive reviews, so I'll keep this review short. The staff is fantastic. They just are; all of them. The resort is beautiful, clean, and has a good layout. There is always something to do if you want, but it is easy to just relax and enjoy a cocktail. The beach is very nice compared to any of the resorts with-in a twenty minute walk ( we checked). The food is good for an all-inclusive. I liked not having to make reservations and we never waited more than 20 minutes. The Desires bar is a good place to unwind and have fun after a day in the sun. They usually play popular American music and sometimes there's a theme night. Considering all you get for the price, this resort gets five stars. This was our second visit to a Secrets resort (first was Silversands) and we are already planning to visit Secrets for our next vacation.

Room Tip: We had a tropical view room on the 5th floor and it was great. Plenty of sunlight. Our friends had a...
