“Thank you Rolando Mirnada”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

We stayed at Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun in June 2013. Rolando Miranda was and is an outstanding example of superior customer service. We had a request in with the hotel and Rolando took it upon himself to take care of us personally. He was professional and took pride in personally resolving our request. He went to great lengths to locate us in the dining room in order to relay information he was able to obtain. He also made a special trip to check in with us on our final day to ensure that our trip had gone well and that we were satisfied. This level of customer service is extremely rare and is highly valued in the customer service industry. I would consider him to be a extremely valuable employee and would provide him a personal recommendation. He has solidified with us that the Secrets hotel chain will continue to be our personal choice for future vacations. I wish him great success in all that he endeavors.

First, let's give the benchmarks of this review. My wife and I have stayed at Sandals twice, and an all-inclusive in Cancun before (and more than 12 cruises). The Capri is a beautiful resort with the best kept beach in this area. The entertainment staff (Stefanie, Vianney, and Johnathon) are the best I have ever encountered. It appears they work from before we got up til late at night. They always were full of energy and had a genuine need to make our vacation enjoyable. House Keeping did an exceptional job. The Staff (ie Kim),and Food, in the Buffet and the Hibachi Grill were top rate. I had just the opposite experience in the Seaside Grill (Oscar) and Portifino. The Ocean grill was closed (or Private Affair) most of the week. Also, we noticed a lot water damage and leaking ceilings during our stay.

Room Tip: Ocean View is a must. Either wing is good. Friends who stayed above the main lobby stated it was too...

We literally just got home a couple hours ago (July 6) after being in Mexico since June 30. We got married June 29th and this was our honeymoon. We definitely would make sure we stayed at this resort again. We did the all inclusive and added 2 tours for both of us for only 440.00 usd extra (zipline, snorkeling, jumping off 13 ft rocks, cave exploring and swimming and rafting, etc.) There is so much to choose from with really good deals and its just way too much to write everything but we had a blast! We ate at all the restaurants they had inside and at pool/beach, multiple bars, pictures do not do this resort justice and the service was incredible. I would rate this on a scale of 5 as infinity, no kidding:) and they had a poolside 4th of July show that was off the charts. This band sang (mainly the lady) for hours on end with no break to everything we listen to in the USA and the most fabulous fire show. Not fireworks, a real fire show with fire hula hoops, people in robot outfits with changing colored led lights, acrobatic almost dancers with outfits like Lady Liberty and with also colored led hoops, dancing, same on the rafts in the pool too. How often do you see acrobatic dancers, etc holding fire doing tricks in boats in pool
? This trip was off the hook.

We celebrated our ten year anniversary at the Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun. We were greeted with Champagne. When we arrived at our room there was a banner on the door and roses in our room. Our room was so comfortable, clean and nice. Room service was so accommodating. They delivered anything from sunblock to champagne and fruit. We enjoyed wonderful food on the beach by the pool and in the restaurants. The service at this resort is over the top. They made us feel so special. We loved the martini bar and flaming coffee bar. At night they set up a bottle of champagne by the hot tub on ice. We especially enjoyed the Hibachi and sushi restaurant. Remember to drink bottled water. There was a day that one of us was ill when we brushed our teeth using tap water.

Probably the very best all inclusive experience in Mexico of the 6 or so I have done. First of all the place is just beautifully designed and extremely well kept. We felt well cared for, even pampered, our entire stay. The staff in every area of service work hard, are responsive and attentive and always in good spirits. The food was very good. Our favorite was Oceanos. While a seafood restaurant, their other selections were good as well. We dined for our last night on their balcony. On the evening of 4th of the July the resort put on a grand festival to celebrate the holiday. Music, outdoor entertainment, fire dancers, food and drinks. Well done. Entertainment staff were fun and energetic. Johnston and Stephanie stand out. A big shout out to Rita the omelette chef and the girls in the coco cafe. It was hard to leave but we definitely left relaxed, refreshed, with many happy memories and have somewhere we are looking forward to visiting again.

My husband and I stayed at Secrets Capri for our honeymoon from June 24-29. We're both in our late 20's and have never stayed at an all-inclusive before.

Check-in: the check-in process was very easy, as promised we were greeted at the door with champagne and a warm towel to freshen up. I have to be honest and warn others about the "visit" to Secrets Maroma. After checking in you will be asked if you want to take a 90 minute trip to their sister resort and receive $100 in leisure money to use toward a romantic dinner or spa treatment etc., we initially signed up to do this but luckily were told by other couples who had gone, to cancel this. They said that the 90 minute trip took over 3 hours and they wasted a lot of time on a timeshare presentation that just dragged on and they wouldn't take no for an answer. The resort coupons are sort of a waste, you can only use a certain amount at a time and it's only for the spa, wine or the romantic dinner. We were only able to use $40 toward the romantic dinner and found no other use for them.

Room: We stayed in room 201 which was the Preferred Club Deluxe Ocean View. There wasn't a honeymoon banner on our door so I asked for one and it was provided very quickly. I did have to show my marriage certificate and when we came back to our room later on there was a towel decoration, heart shaped balloons, flowers and a bottle of champagne in our room. The hotel overall has a sort of mildewy/musky smell to it, but you do get used to it, you don't notice it until you've been out for a while and come back in. Our room had a beautiful canopy king size bed, the balcony was nice with a table and 2 chairs overlooking the pool & beach area. The room was cleaned several times throughout the day and nightly turn down service where they leave a sleep tight sign and slippers by the bed. We did receive the welcome honeymooners letter, and a complimentary photo session on the beach. We didn't purchase any of the pictures due to prices. Each day you will receive a newsletter in your room telling you the daily activities, since we were on our honeymoon our names were mentioned on the newsletter. the minibar has coronas, bottled water, soda & juices. not really a bar, more like refreshments which was fine for us, there is plenty of alcohol to be found throughout the resort, trust me!! :) We also had a romantic breakfast in bed which was very nice, we did like the food at the breakfast buffet ALOT!! Wouldn't recommend room service the food is just ok. It's different than the food at the restaurants.

Pool: we never had a problem finding a chair to layout on and people do share the floats once they are done with them. Juan at the pool bar is awesome. Noe is great and I didn't catch his name but there is a very friendly and sweet man who comes around a few times with chips, pico de gallo and fresh fruit. The staff everywhere are FANTASTIC!!!. If you prefer to sit by the pool, sit on the right side closest to the beach, this is where Noe works, he is excellent, he's always quick with drinks and eager to please.

Ocean: the water is very clear at first and then there are parts that are a teal blue, we kayaked one day and were able to see stingrays and these beautiful white fish near the reef area. We had no problem finding a chair on the beach, and there are always plenty of towels, we never had to get up early to reserve a spot. If you prefer the beach, i would try to find a place on the right side, Oscar is AMAZING!! he is so friendly and works hard to make sure you have whatever you need.

Food: On our first day after traveling for over 10 hours, we were starving. We went to the steakhouse restaurant and tried the wings & ribs. Not like what we have here in the US and I would not recommend those dishes. However, we ordered the chicken fajitas & they were very good. the wings at the cactus bar are different & were very good. Each day at lunchtime, they have burgers, hot dogs, and other barbecue items on the beach, it's buffet style but we preferred going to the cactus bar for lunch, you can go in your swimsuit with a cover up on. the chicken and ribeye taquito's were very very good. For dinner we tried the steakhouse again, the ribeye is great, we went to the italian place - their food is also very very good. would recommend their spaghetti and the lobster ravioli. We did not try oceana since we're not big on seafood and we didn't try the hibitsu as my husband does not eat sushi and i wasn't feeling well toward the end of our trip. Our favorite places to eat were the breakfast buffet and the cactus club. Our absolute favorite meal was the romantic dinner on the beach. Hugo was our waiter and he is beyond AWESOME, he took so many beautiful pictures of us, made us feel like a king and queen. The food was DELICIOUS!!! we were able to substitute clam chowder for minestrone (delish) and the mango canolli for chocolate cake with coconut ice cream. the food presentation is so pretty and Hugo made this a fantastic and memorable night that we will cherish forever. I would definitely recommend the romantic beach dinner, it is worth every penny and you can use your resort coupons toward this. Thank you Hugo for a wonderful memory!! :)

Drinks: i think i tried every drink on the menu and they were all very very good. The house wine is just fine, I didn't pay for any particular brand of wine as I found their house was good. The champagne was delicious. One day I wasn't feeling well so I didn't want to drink alcohol. Oscar on the beach brought me a Conga which is alcohol free- this is VERY good and very refreshing if your not able to drink.

Entertainment & staff: When we were planning our honeymoon we both agreed that we wanted to relax, we weren't looking to do excursions/sightseeing, we wanted to get to the resort and stay put to relax after all the wedding planning. This resort was perfect!! We were able to sleep in, go to the beach or pool, if we got bored, we did volleyball, zumba, kayaking, played poker. the entertainment staff will keep you busy if you want things to do or leave you be if you want to just kick back & relax. They have nightly shows in the ballroom (magician, fire show, comedian). Jonathan, Samantha, Victor and the whole entertainment staff are FANTASTIC!! All of the staff work hard morning to night to make sure that each guest has a great time. I hope that they are well paid because to be honest the staff are what makes this resort so great. The hotel itself is so-so, you can tell they need to do some updating and the smell is musty but the staff in this place make all the difference.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a romantic getaway with relaxation, good food, amazing service and good price.

This is our 2nd time at Secrets Capri. We were married here two years ago. When we found ourselves attending a destination wedding down the road, we decided to celebrate our second anniversary by adding a couple of nights at Secrets Capri...and we are so glad that we did! It's impossible to write this review without comparing Secrets to the "other," more expensive resort, so please forgive me.
Secrets Capri remains a lovely, laid back, small resort where it's easy to find friends on the beach or at the pool bar. We loved it the first time around, but they have made some great improvements since our last visit, including free wi-fi, free calls to the US mainland, and a new coffee bar. The rooms continue to be very clean, as are the grounds in general. The beach seems improved from two years ago in terms of the rockiness of the sand. Where we were really stunned was in the service that we received. First, we received the usual anniversary amenities, including rose petals on the bed and a bottle of champagne upon arrival. Ahead of time, I wanted to surprise my husband and requested a miniature version of our wedding cake, the amazing Tres Leches cake that we had been unable to find during our honeymoon. The wedding coordinator went above and beyond, asking exactly when and where I wanted the cake delivered and then surprising us both with a full-sized wedding cake. It was just as good as we'd remembered it! That is an extreme example of the service we received at Secrets, but their commitment to a wonderful guest experience is evident in smaller ways such as employees' responsiveness, always-smiling faces, and even the umbrellas and slippers in every room (all of which were remarkably lacking at the more expensive "spa resort"). Juan at the pool bar was fantastic, but all staff were generally great (there was one exception when a server at Portofino admitted he was overwhelmed, but that got fixed quickly). In terms of food, it often is simply not as good as some of Secrets' 5-star competitors, but stand out meals included Italian at Portofino and seafood at Oceana.
Secrets Capri continues to be one of our favorite resorts and we will return again and again.
