Great location in Playa del Carmen

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 23, 2017
The BRIC Hotel and Spa is perfectly located close to the beach and main pedestrian street in Playa. The courtyard offers a relaxing oasis away from the crowds when needed. The staff are very helpful and the room we had was quite comfortable.
Date of stay: March 2017
Room Tip: Rooms with large windows facing the street can be nosier because of the closeness to Calle 5 and...

This hotel is great except for a couple of things.

Most of all the water pressure. There is none. So if you like to take a shower, expect to have a drizzle.

Also, the maid service is spotty. I even had one day completely missed. While they were going to do it at 5:30 that night...it was too late and I declined.

The staff is GREAT. They really care about your stay. The location PERFECT. And the feel is very welcoming and cozy.

If they fix the little things, they can be really great.

The average rating was for the room/apartment which I will get to. The Bric gets the highest rating available. This is like 8th review of this management company and always outstanding. This year above and beyond due to a mistake on my part. I booked my room and thought I had booked my friends room who decided later to come with us. I checked in to rate an availability which has I received but never did reserve it. Did not find out that pertinent fact until the day prior to l eating home. In contact with Abril, in the office and no rooms available in the Bric or most other places either due to valentine day and the busiest month also. She went to work, got us a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment they manage right by the hotel. She not only got us the place else but secured for us other things we got with the hotel. She is the best an if you can get her as your Playa agent you will never regret it or find a more knowledgeable talented agent. The apartment was nice, furnished nicely, a great location 1/2 block off 5th an of course much better than anything we could have found last minute due to my mistake. The reason for only average rating was the noise at night. Even with air on the band across 10th was so loud earplugs did not help. Luckily quit early like 1130 or so and that was with windows closed. Car noise when opened during the day. Balcony was nice but could only use mornings or night because in direct sun without shade and way to hot.

The location is perfect. Close to everything. The staff was so nice and kind, they helped us a lot. The room was good and big enough... we took two nights at firts and then decided to stay two more !!!
The breakfast was tasty but it's not a buffet and everyday they have different food (eggs/pancakes.......)

We loved it

We stayed here for a couple of nights late January and I really wish we would have booked a longer stay. What a lovely property!

The courtyard area with garden, pool, and eating area is very well maintained and so pretty. The rooms, while smaller in size, have absolutely everything you could need or want. They are lovely with a sea-blue and grey encaustic tile feature wall, exceptionally comfortable bed, good sized shower with ample hot water and water pressure, a little mini fridge, private patio area with comfy chairs, table and a hammock. I loved taking a cup of hot, strong coffee up to my patio to relax in the mornings before breakfast. The breakfasts, themselves, were delicious and, as someone who has Celiac disease, I was so grateful they were able to accommodate for my dietary needs. While the location is very close to the beach. restaurants, shops and bars, the property felt quiet, private and so relaxing. A wonderful stay!

This is a charming little hotel. It almost feels family-run, which is a breath of fresh air in this corporate world. Rooms are small but efficient with the best shower we had in our month long travels through Central America. Always a plus to have a mini fridge and really appreciated the water coolers- most places hand out bottles of water willy nilly with no thought to where all of that plastic goes..Pool was refreshingly cool. Breakfast options changed daily and were always delicious. Without exception, the staff were friendly, polite, helpful and professional. The smiles of Angel and Arturuo made my day everyday..If one really really has to go to Playa del Carmen ( subject for another review ) The Bric is the only place to stay.
