The hotel is on a great location (2 blocks away from mamitas beach club), The staff was great, and the room was what we were expecting. The only complaint I had was that because we were stayin on a top floor room, we could hear the sound of the A/C motors from the whole building, which woke me up the second night.

Room Tip: Just try to avoid the top floor.

We just got back from an incredible stay at Riviera Del Sol. Silvina (the hotel manager I believe) was very responsive via email, super friendly upon arrival and even arranged transport to and from the airport for us for a fee. This was the way to go. We had a suburban waiting for us with a courteous driver who gave us Corona's on the ride over! So nice after a long flight. Plus we didn't have to get harassed by the "taxi ploy" trying to bait you into a time share.

First the location, this place couldn't be in a better spot. One block from the action of 5th ave, and one block from the ocean. We never needed a taxi once, we walked everywhere!

The room was nicely appointed, and overlooked the pool in the courtyard. We were on the 2nd floor. The hotel includes free wifi which was awesome and very stable, as well as included breakfast in the morning. Coffee, fresh fruit, teas, pastries and even some eggs (i did not sample the eggs).

Our suite (peak season) was $150 a night including taxes. How can you beat that? What really did it for me though was the service. The front desk always smiling and happy to help and genuine about it. They really get the hospitality industry.

One last thing, make sure to ask if the hotel can arrange a massage with Gabriella. OMG, hands down the best massage of my life, and it was (hold on to your shorts here) $35 USD for an hour. She allowed us to utilize our own music too since I have a portable bose speaker that wirelessly hooks to to my iPhone.

I can assure you we will be back to playa to stay at Riviera Del Sol. Such a great experience and easy on the wallet.

Just back from 10 night stay , don 't bother looking further, this is the place to stay ! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a little peace and quiet but close enough to all the action of Quinta Avenida. The beach passes for Mamita's beach club saved us a lot of money and unlike some reviewers we never had a problem getting umbrellas and loungers. Try their frozen Margaritas! Beautiful white sand beach, warm sea, idyllic place. Breakfast adequate but for very little extra can upgrade to cooked breakfast - omelette or scrambled eggs etc.
We had rooms 106 and 107 with French windows opening directly onto poolside, both lovely spacious rooms.

Room Tip: 106 and 107 ground floor between dining room and pool , quiet and away from road noise

We stayed in Playa del Carmen for a week and we could not fault this hotel. It was good value for money - the location was fantastic, the rooms were spotless, the breakfast was amazing, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our room was very large and right next to the pool. The hotel itself is not even a minute's walk to the main party and shopping street, 5th Avenue, and was about 2 minutes to the beach. We were able to use Mamitas Beach club for free, which was also a bonus. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Having been to Playa Del Carmen many times (I got 3 times/year for the diving), I had walked by this hotel many times and always thought it was very quaint. The rooms are nice and, spotless but, it's the grounds and staff that made our stay truly exceptional. From the front desk to the restaurant where Gabriella greats you every morning (and is also an amazing massage therapist!) the staff are happy, cordial and eager to be helpful. The service at the small Inns in Playa Del Carmen is usually very good but this hotel is one notch better on every count. Finally, there's the location: the hotel is located just a few minutes from Mamitas and Kool--the two largest beach clubs--but far enough away that you're not disturbed by the foot traffic or their music. Just right on all counts and I will definitely be staying there again!

Room Tip: We had a convenient room adjacent to the pool which works for divers since it meant no stairs to climb with gear! However, the upstairs area has a very nice common area and might be a bit more private for couples, etc.
