We discovered Ileana's almost ten years ago and make it a point to eat there at least once each visit to Playa del Carmen. Ileana is a most hospitable host and loves to visit with her customers. The food is scrumptious ~ the fettuccine pasta is made fresh in-house every day. Our party of four ordered different menu items this last visit and each of us was delighted with our choice. My pesto fettuccine with jumbo shrimp was so tasty. This restaurant is worth a visit. Moderately priced, nice portion size, great bread and wine list. Do not confuse this Il Pescatore (da Ileana) with the other Il Pescatore that is located in a large resort. Il Pescatore da Ileana is a quaint corner restaurant with ample outside seating, very charming!

As I said before I am a local foodie and try to visit all the restaurants in playa, Il pescatore da Ileana on the corner 10 Avenue and 24th Street (Not to be confused with Il Pescatore on the Beach & Conctituyentes) is by far in my opinion one if not the best for pasta in Playa the pasta is freshly handmade every day as well the bread the service could be a bit slow but is very friendly and attentive and the personal attention of the house movie star (Ileana) makes you feel right at home.

The prices are as all in playa from moderate to high but the awesome food quality and te tranquility of the ambiance unlike 5th Avenue's noisy crowds and bars makes it worth every penny.

This week I found even bett news she has a lunch special wher you can pretty much order salad, plus any pasta on the menu and a glass of wine for $150 Mexican Pesos (roughly $12USD) you can beat that if you are in town you have to try it before the promotion is over.

I have never had Italian like this - and I have eaten eaten at many top restaurants in the world. The simplicity of this home made food makes the meal so pure and full of flavour. Visit 1 - we have beef carpaccio, 3meat ravioli (just made) in a porcini mushroom tomato sauce, and seafood past in a homemade pesto sauce....amazing....Visit 2 - even more amazing - Octopus Carpaccio -(i never had this before and it melted in my mout), Grilled shrip with Fetuccine Alfredo and the best Gnocchi ever in tomato sauce (so light - not heavy like most places).;Its not on Fifth which I like - the food and service on Fifth is "factory", this place is personal. The owner comes to your table, she helps you figure out what to have. She doesnt push "tripadvisor" on you (like the other places now have cards asking customers to do it - she doesnt)...She is a real down to earth Itialian lady with high standards, simple pleasures, and amazing recipes. A friend of ours told us about this place. We loved it so much we went 2 days in a row...and we would have gone more if had time left in our vacation. This is our new go-to in Playa (we visit yearly).

Excellent food. We have been here many times over the years during our visits to Playa. Maria was very accommodating to our group as one person was not feeling well. She asked the chef to make a simple dish for the guest. The gnocchi with truffle, cream sauce and asparagus was outstanding. My husband loved the meatballs and sausage. The brushetta was excellent and served compliments of the house. The daily specials are always recommended. This restaurant often gets very crowded, but was quiet the night of our visit. Always a good place for authentic Italian food with homemade pasta.
