This is a beautiful resort with beautiful tropical grounds. The staff was amazing and very accommodating even when there was a power outage due to an issue outside the resort. One of the best things about staying at this resort is its location it is only a short ride to the beautiful seaside town of Playa del Carmen and a short ride to Tulum and the Mayan Ruins.

We had a great time at this hotel for our honeymoon but there were a few things we were sort of disappointed in. There was only 1 beer choice on the resort, XX, which was okay with us because we both liked it prior to coming, but not being huge liquor drinkers, it got old after the first 2 days. Another disappointment is how small the beach is. The pictures prior to coming are VERY well taken because it conveyed the beach a lot larger then it is. The last thing we were not fond of at all was how pushy and manipulative they were when it came to selling things to you. They pushed all the Xcaret tours as well as sitting in on a 90min meeting about selling you a timeshare, yet they refused to use the word timeshare. We got suckered in because they offered a free trip to Hawaii but then I realized what it was and we canceled our appointment which they did not like. They kept trying to push still and I was almost at the point of tears when they finally backed off. We NEVER travel so we wanted to take all the time we were there for ourselves and to relax. We also knew we couldn't afford the cost of what they were selling so we didn't want to waster our vacation time. Just a warning to watch out... they will slip something under your door about a free gift at the front desk or they will snag you around the lobby and at one of the drop off locations for the shuttle. They also push the Royal club they have there which really didn't seem that much more fantastic. They had a small private restaurant and a small private pool area. Although closer to the beach, they were the farthest away from the front which had all the restaurants. But they did have room service which the rest did not which I was disappointed in. It was the first all inclusive that did not offer room service to all their guests which sometimes is very convenient especially for breakfast or late snacks.

Okay, those are the negatives but we do have several positives!! The buffets were good but PLEASE take advantage the restaurants that you need to do a reservation. We went to all, and ALL were amazing and the service was fantastic. A great part was that the resort is so large that we never felt that it was overly crowded. We always got a great spot at the pools, the beach and we never had to wait to be seated at any of the buffets. ALL the servers there were so fantastic. We always had a great time with them - very interactive and they were all easily understood language-wise.

The room we stayed in was great. Very spacious, lots of room for clothes, an amazing shower and a great side view of the ocean from our balcony. Beds and pillows were very comfy!

For the price we definitely got our moneys worth with the food and beverages. The front desk did everything they could for you. They worked with us on whatever we needed and even made special arrangements for us when the normal way did not work for us. All the employees were very nice. We passed several of them every time we walked somewhere and they all always greeted us and/or asked us if we needed anything.

We did 2 excursions through cheap caribbean when we booked the stay. We did Chichén Itzá which was a great experience but a VERY long drive, about 3 hours each way. Our tour guides were amazing and they took us to an authentic restaurant as well as a cenote to swim in. The other one we did was called Jungle Maya. One word... amazing! Quick drive from the resort. Tour guide was so funny and helped you through all the fears. Went swimming in a cave, 3 zip lines, rappelling down a cenote and a ride in a 4x4 truck which was fun.

Overall the resort was great after we got through the first 2 days of people trying to sell us a timeshare. It was very relazxing and well maintained.

Room Tip: We were in building 22. Pretty much in the middle of the resort so we had a comfortable walk to eith...

We had a wonderful honeymoon at the Occidental Grand Xcaret. It is a wonderful location with beautiful scenery and plenty to do. I only have two complaints. On our last day their our door lock battery went out and it was over two hours before this was taken care of. Also, the high pressure sales on the Grand Club plan got very very tiring. But, the hotel was amazing and the ruins on the grounds were incredibly neat!

This is a very beautiful resort with great food and great service. Its a very large resort so be sure to wear comfortable footwear. The service is very good and the restaurants have wonderful food so be sure to make your reservations as early as possible to be guaranteed a seat. The swim-up bar is unique because you have to pass under a waterfall to order your drinks. This is definitely a resort that we will be visiting again.

From the start to end of our stay everything was wonderful. They had a bottle of tequila and fruit basket waiting for us on arrival to the room. a mini bar stocked with drinks and water. Premium drinks and great pool areas. At the very end of the resort there is a natural round pool and you can swim with the fishes. The food is excellent and the service is above and beyond.
We will definitely return.

We were greeted by a yummy tropical drink and taken to our room. It was fun to walk around and explore the resort. The resort was well-maintained, clean, and very fun. WE LOVED THE SWIM-UP BAR!! The buffets were tasty, but I would recommend going to the restaurants that require reservations! I would also recommend going on a snorkeling excursion. So beautiful and fun.

Our room service was great. Everything was clean and re-stocked daily. We were always greeted and any employee that walked by would smile and wave to us. It seems that everyone enjoys their job here and it makes all the difference!

The location seemed a little far from the excursions and Maroma Beach, but it could also be that I am not used to commuting longer than 30 minutes.

We were there for our honeymoon, so I do wish the resort did something special for us. It was fun and we had a blast, but it would have been great if the resort made our stay a little more "special".

Our family was treated very well! My 12 year old daughter said "I could get used to this!" The summer heat was difficult to deal with, but if you want to bring the kids you have to go in the summer or March break. Being a birdwatcher, I was pleased that the resort had lots of vegetation. The food was excellent all day and there was never a reason to complain the whole time we were at this resort!

Room Tip: Ask for something close to the main building!
