We booked for a 2 week vacation, had 8 ala carte, there was 6 resturants to choose from, our favorite was the Mexican, Luis is the maitre de, he is most gracious, and took care of all our needs, he sets the atmosphere in the resturant for the rest of his co workers, and the patrons.
The fun club pool area, was really entertaining, the kids that work there are very friendly, and have you want to participate in the activites, such as water aerobics, competitions, and dance lessons and many more, we hung out by that pool most of the 2 weeks, met wonderful people from all over the world. The beach area, is really small, with chairs to close together. It took a day or two to figure out which direction we were going, but we were comfortable after a couple days. The buffet was good, and the swim up bar snack bar was very good. Brigitte and Rachelle

My husband and I just returned from 10 days at this resort. It is a very beautiful property, extremely well kept, very tropical. The birds and other wild life are abundant. The pools are huge, some with winding rivers and some with plenty of whirlpool seating areas. The food is good. The service was excellent, with wait staff at all beach areas. The rooms are kept very clean and with a little "propino"left in the frig, you will get replenished beer and soft drinks and water. We were there for relaxation and we had a wonderful time. There is a lot of walking indeed but there are trams to take you to the beach or to the lobby. We are not "all inclusive" resort lovers but this place ,for the money, was just terrific. If you are looking for a great family spot, you could not go wrong with this property, lots of fun for kids of all ages, but there is also an adults only section that is just beautiful. You will encounter Time Share shills but they are friendly and will not bother you if you say a friendly no thanks. All in all, I would certainly recommend this resort as an economical beautiful place to vacation in sunny Mexico.

Room Tip: We were in building 21 which was well situated.Rooms are not sound proof. You do hear people in the h...

My husband and I visited this hotel as a very belated honeymoon! We stayed for 11 nights and were only asked about timeshare once in this time, we said no that was that. This hotel is a steal for the money and the grounds are incredible. Wildlife everywhere u looked. Make sure to visit Tulum and swim with turtles in Akumal. The park next door is massive so much to do we bought and unlimited pass for 119 $! Sooo worth it. I think I've turned into a cocktail the drinks are incredible named brands too if you asked. We stayed in building 14 great location and really quiet. The beach gets noisy but look on google earth if you climb over the rocks to the left there's a sandy beach right there. Adults only pool was our fav snorkelling with no sand and the bar service here was incredible smashed before 11am!! Evening entertainment was good, food was excellent not Michelin style but then we haven't paid these prices remember!!! Lots of Americans/Canadians few Brits - English from the staff as always excellent. We want to go back had our best holiday ever you will not be disappointed I promise :) If you leave a tip for the maid she leaves extra in the fridge. Take dollars not pesos oh and lots of $1 bills for tips. The staff work so hard. Remember this is a massive massive resort so if you have trouble walking then maybe not best for you having said that there's a shuttle to take you around. All the restaurants were lovely cant pick a fav but the steak in the Italian was amazing oh and the sushi started in the oriental huuuuge! Have fun in the sun - take jungle formula for mossies it works.

I'd have to say overall we had a great stay at Xcaret. I wasn't sure at first because I was expecting more of a beach hotel zone type of place and when we arrived, we were very much secluded and into more of a jungle type atmosphere. Turns out we had a great time! The rooms are nice, beds felt like flint stone rock hard beds as we've found in most of the Mexican resorts but rooms were clean and well kept daily. Mini bar/fridge was not replenished but service was excellent and had we requested that, I feel sure it would've been taken care of. When staying at this hotel, a visit to Xcaret park is an absolute MUST in fact, I'd say go ahead and spring for the two day tickets, trust me you'll want to go back the second day! Food was average and buffet was fairly repetitive as w most all inclusives. The one negative I would give the hotel is the fact that the buffets and restaurants all have varying and sometimes confusing hours. A couple of 24 hours buffets and or snack bars would have been a great addition. I'm sure we will go back and visit again.

We stayed for a week from the 16th Feb. This resort was exactly as I had expected & for what I paid was good value. We were not approached about timeshare at all! We enjoyed the walks to the beach buffet restaurant ect. The food was ok. Very bland. The fresh fruits were amazing. Drinks were usually strong & if you asked for the better brands you got them. We purchased multiday tickets to Xcaret Park. This was well worth it. Rooms are ok but maybe just a bit dull. Pools could get quite noisey at times but so could the beach at certain times of the day. We always managed to get a lounger but you did have to be up very early to get one at the edge of the water on the beach. The adult only area was very nice. A very well kept site.

We visited this resort for 2 weeks (Feb. 8-22) and were very impressed! It was our 20 year anniversary and we brought the kids (ages 19 & 15) along for the trip. The hotel was well laid out - rather than one big building, there are separate buildings located in different areas of the site. Some reviews complain of having to walk the trails to get to some of the restaurants, pools, etc., but we found this to be a perfect idea in the planning of this resort. On the walks you discover Mayan ruins, the resident monkeys, iguanas, some raccoon looking creatures that I can't pronounce the Mexican name for, and beautiful grounds. For those people who don't like to walk, there are shuttle buses that take you from your building to where you need to be.
The pools were great! The ocean lagoon was perfect for snorkeling-even the pelicans would dive for fish within feet of the people. Loved it! Fun club & bar staff were fabulous! Food was good & there was alot of variety. Rodrigo, Job & the rest of the Fun Club staff made it almost impossible not to want to join in the activities. Jorge & Nancy in building 18 were very helpful in planning meals & excursion ideas. We were so impressed with the majority of the staff members. They all seem to love their jobs! We had breakfast almost every morning at the ocean restaurant. William was our server most days. He sang & danced the whole time! His smile was contagious! He remembered what we liked to drink, and was very attentive! Alfredo was another young fellow who always took the time to stop and say hello-he seemed to be there first thing in the morning until sunset.

The only downside was the Occidental Holiday Club timeshare presentation - 90 minutes turned into 3 hours even though we told them right from the start that we weren't buying anything and were only there to get the Xcaret park tickets. Was not impressed when the manager at the end of the presentation basically called us stupid for not purchasing his product. Helpful Hint: Pay the extra $20 per ticket and avoid this presentation!

We spoke to other travellers that had been to the resort on more than one occassion, stating they had experienced other resorts in the area and this one was their favourite, hence the reason they kept returning.

We were upgraded to the Royal Club for 3 nights. The suite was beautiful, and it was a treat to be able to order room service, however, we were very happy with the quality & location of our room in building 18.

We all had a great time and we plan on returning to experience the great hospitality and quality this resort offered us.
