This was our first all-inclusive experience and it was awesome. The weather started off a little shaky but ended up nice most of the week. The staff was all very friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. The room was nice with a partial ocean view - could hear the waves in the morning. Several restaurants on site were all good. We liked the Italian the best. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner was also very good with lots of choices. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was feeling "trapped" and didn't get out to see many of the sites. Mostly we wanted to relax and sit on the beach or poolside so all and all good experience.

Room Tip: Second floor gives you a little more privacy - each room has a balcony on the second floor and first...

My boyfriend and I went to the Ocean Maya the week of Oct 31/2013. Beautiful, well kept, small, quaint explains this resort. Food was excellent, grounds and rooms were beautiful. We had a nice week but I did not feel like I was in the Mayan Riviera, not really sure why, maybe it was the beach at hotel, it was a small beach and the water was murky not blue.I felt I had to leave the resort so not to be board. The age group at the resort was 55 +, not what we expected. Two days we had gone into Playa del Carmen on 5th ave , I love Playa del Carmen, thank god we were not to far from the town, about a 10min taxi ride which cost us $20.00 us each way. Another bad point for me was the pool with the bar, they played music all day, which was ok until they played their so called house music which is Techno, the most annoying sound to here on a Mexican Resort, I though Mexican music was Latino? Not to mention the age group not appreciate Techno. I did mention this to the DJ, the music was changed right away, but not for long. I would recommend this hotel but only to 55+ or couples who want nothing to do expect relax. Loved the resort but would not go back only because of the water at the beach. Prime beach is a must for me. Have to mention the entire staff ways exceptional, loved everyone. one silly point, the lobby smell fabulous, there was a fragrance spray that would go off through the lobby, I loved it, never seen that before, nice touch. Atlot of plus, very few neg.

Room Tip: More quite, stay near lobby. We stayed in 1807, was right between lobby and pool, perfect. Up at po...

First I need to say that our whole week was started off fantastic. When we arrived we were wanting a room that we had stayed in 2 years ago and it was not available so we were placed in the hands of "Maria Lopez" and she did us right. Our room was top notch from the view to the best a/c we have ever had in Mexico. She did not stop there, she checked on us though out our stay and met us as we were leaving in the van to come home, just to say goodbye and hoped that we would be back soon. She is so helpful and has a wonderful friendly smile and attitude.
Now - the room was terrific. Ocean front, spacious, good a/c, shower was good with plenty of hot water, mini-fridge stocked daily, and maid service was great. It had been a bit rainy before we got there so there was mosquitos in the room but all it took was a talk with the maid and they were gone.
The resort is beautiful and colorful. Clean and well manicured. Walkways nice, wide, and well lit at night. The pools were clean and did not once find that scum in it from all the lotions. Loungers were nice. Towels could have been bigger and a bit thicker. Yes, people did get up early and stake out the chairs so if you were past 9 a.m. you had to hit the beach for a chair. The shade umbrellas were put in the ground so no way to move them and they did not have any little tables by the chairs. Two pools, one more quiet, and one had the swim up bar so it tended to party a bit every day and yes, we were in the party pool most of the time. The pool entertainment was great and the staff does very well to get everybody involved.
The bars - well the lobby bar area is nice and you can get a cool breeze at some of the tables as breeze goes thru the hotel. Maybe not the newest chairs but we found them to be very comfortable. I hate to say but we did have a time trying to get a drink that the bartender could make to our liking so husband mostly just had wine and he did make a good chocolate martini so we were ok. We visited the lobby bar every evening before going to dinner and enjoyed visiting with other guests. The pool bar was a pool bar, meaning they got you in and out. The best drinks we found were at the Mexican and the Italian. Had some dang good margaritas!
The breakfast in the buffet was good however lunch was a bit lacking and we only had dinner there once and found it was ok, I will say that it seems to be very warm in there while you eat however you can always find something to your liking. The Japanese dining was good but we actually like the sit down better than the Hibachi, seemed to have more flavor but the Hibachi was fun because the chef entertained you as well as sitting with others. The Mexican was pretty good, had some nachos, bean soup, chicken skewers and yummy 3 milk cake for dessert. The best was the Italian by far. This was not there 2 years ago when we were here so this is a nice addition. Felt a bit more Fine Dining and was a bit open air which made it have a breeze that was so welcomed. Went here 3 times and each time was good food and good service.... and that being said wanted to mention our waiter "Jorge Casanova" who was execellent. Kept our food coming and our drink cups full with a smile on his face.
Wanted to mention one more guy, at the end of your trip, he took the time to take our departing pictures. He is a bellman by the name of " Hector", and I lost his info so cannot give his last name but he could not have been any friendlier and was snapping pictures of us like he was a pro.
FYI - The resort severs Pepsi products - there are towel cards - and no reservations for dinner - free wifi in lobby and we did not have any problem with it.
We paid a great price for this place and if the price is right would come back again.

This hotels is lovely but a few bad points aswel as good, staff are very polite, very welcoming and always happy to help exept the privilege staff, they are arragant. Too many americans and canadians for my liking, there too loud and always drunk. Room was gorgeous, was a warm welcome with a lovely drink after a 10 hour flight. Food was diabolical, was always undercooked! Entertainment staff were fantastic especially anny and amy jayne. Jeovani was always in the pool with his girlfriend which shouldnt be allowed!!! Apart from that the rest of the entertainment staff were out of this world. Would defo visit again if some points get picked up on ie food not catered for everyone and some foods were undercooked (raw). The grounds were lovely and the beach apart from cigarette ends all over, needs more ashtrays to cater for smokers. The pool bar staff are veru helpful and always willing to serve u when u turn up for a drink. Went to playa del carmen and loved it. Weather was a bit rubbish for a few days but noone can predict the weather. Got alot of sun in the 16 nights i stayed.

From the moment we arrived I was so very happy. The check in was effortless and the staff wonderful. The room was perfect and our view could not have been better if we had slept on the beach beds! The food was the best we have ever had at an all inclusive and we have been to a few. The staff were some of the best and hardest working people we have ever encounter. The a la cart dinners were very good, the Italian was hands down the best and no reservations needed and you can come back again if you want! Shout out to Angel at the pool bar cause I know my husband drove you loco! We had a blast and will be back! Do not hesitate to go to this resort you WILL NOT be disappointed. One of our best vacations in our 25 yrs together.

Room Tip: We had an ocean view room in building 9 it was fantastic! Building 12 was a good one as well. Both...

The grounds of this resort are beautiful. Lots of palm trees, landscaping & friendly staff.
We were not impressed with other aspects though - like only 1 choice for breakfast & lunch buffets. The breakfast buffet was not very good nor was the lunch buffet. At dinner, the 3 themed restaurants were fantastic. The food & service were great. As for our room - it smelled of mold/mildew. I asked the front desk about relocating & he told me they were at capacity (which I did not believe) but that he could send housekeeping up to apply fragrance to the room. I declined as the thought of "fragrance" to cover mold did not sound good. So we had to tolerate it. Later we found out that our door did not lock. Anyone could turn the knob & gain entry. Room service plates/trays remained on the rails/floors outside the doors for over 24 hours which attracted bugs & rodents. This resort only offers free Wifi in the lobby unless you pay for "privilege" upgrade or pay $40 per device for 5 days. The elevator was out of service so we had to walk the stairs for the duration of our stay. Rude guests place sandals & towels on beach chairs & beds EARLY in the morning & leave them there while they go on excursions. We tried to find a chair @ 8am & though the beach & pool areas were almost vacant, there was not a shaded chair to be found. The resort needs to figure out a way to fix this problem. The bartenders did a great job making all sorts of fabulous fruity drinks. The coffee shop is good too. Finally, by biggest let down was the picture on the homepage of the website shows quite a bit of beach frontage. But in truth, there is a large erosion wall that takes us almost all of their beachfront. We took advantage of the snorkeling tour while we were there. It was a good time & the guides very friendly & helpful. I would not return to this resort :(
