We went to Blue Diamond for our honeymoon (first time in Mexico) and had the most amazing experience. This is one of the best hotels you will find as is not only beautiful, private and luxurious - the best part for us was the amazing service! We were treated with the outmost care and respect everyday - anytime. Thank you to: Diego, Alfredo, Mario, Guillermo, Efrain, Jose, Cesar and Alvaro. You made our stay so much more memorable and special. The grounds and rooms are outstanding and we truly appreciated the privacy and exclusivity provided. The food was always incredible - certainly the best you will find in Mexico for an all inclusive. In particular, we want to thank Chef Jonas for making special dishes and spoiling us throughout the entire stay. We are already planning our next trip there... Thank you Blue :)

We traveled in July 2013 for a week of relaxation and sightseeing for our honeymoon. Our expectations for our first time to Riviera Maya were met! The jungle and beach in Riviera Maya were absolutely beautiful, but what really made this trip was our stay at the Blue Diamond resort.

Our room: We stayed in the Laguna Suite, which was about half way from the lobby to the beach. The Laguna Suite is much better than the Cenote Suite based on location. The size of the room was so much larger than expected. A HUGE bathroom with two amazing showers and outdoor tub, large walkin closet, king size bed and a great balcony with amazing view of the laguna. The maids keep the room extremely clean and came twice a day.

The beach: They do not own a large beach front, however a large beach is not needed because of the small number of people that occupy the resort. The ocean is aqua blue and some areas are rocky, but its still very enjoyable to swim. The beach has white sand and we found the staff racking the seaweed every hour! When we arrived there were only roughly 30 people there and you could choose any spot on the beach or around the pool. Daniel and Cesar will keep your drinks filled and ice cold while your on the beach or by the pool, and they are more than happy to serve you lunch in both spots as well.

The restaurants: There are really only two, Amber and Aquamarina. Amber is only open for dinner but the menu is fantastic and the restaurant is beautiful. This was by far our first choice for dinner. We were impressed with ever meal. Aquamarina served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast and lunch were our favorite here. If we could order everything off the breakfast menu every morning, we would have! The dinner menu changed every night here as a different theme, such as Mayan, Mexican, French, etc. Also, dinner at both of these restaurants was a four course meal and it took about 2 hours to dine. Now we are food people and enjoyed the long dinner, accompanied with lots of drinks, and great food and music.

Activities: We truly relaxed most days in the sun only needing to worry about our next meal choice. It rained the first day which ruined snorkeling for the week, but the resort staff still took us out on the catamaran for a look at the coral and a swim. The catamaran ride was so fun and the aqua blue water is one of the most amazing things to see. We did leave the resort to see Tulum, Chichen Itza, Coba, Cenote Il Kel, and Vallidolid.

The spa: We didn't pay for a spa treatment but were able to use most of the facility at your own free will. It was one of the nicest we ever stepped foot in, so if you are going make sure you check out the steam room!

The resort and staff truly made you feel like royalty and it was a perfect trip for honeymooning and a vacation to do absolutely nothing but sunbath. If you are looking to stay at a resort with entertainment and night life, then Blue Diamond is not the choice for you. We were able to go to the bar after dinner and the Cigar Lounge which were open late into the night.

We definitely would love to travel back and stay at Blue Diamond again!

Room Tip: If we stay again we would choose the Palafritos Suite because of the roof top shower and view of the...

From the moment you check in you are greeted by an excellent, warm staff that caters to your every need. Receptionist Sergio offered us towels and drinks as he gave us our room assignments. Martina the concierge was so warm and nice, she helped us get acquainted with the resort and was very tentative our whole time there. Florisel, Diego, Alfredo, and Darwin were always ready to transport us all over the property with smiles on their faces. Waiters like Procilano, Caesar, Elias always remembered your name and your favorite drinks. One person that stood out in particular was a young man by the name of Alvaro who has a smile from ear to ear, he helped us on the beach with towels and pillows. As for the resort itself its quite, magical place that is perfect for relaxing and checking out of the "real world". I would definitely be going back to the BLUE DIAMOND!

Just returned from a 4-night stay and I absolutely LOVED Blue Diamond. I have been going to Playa for 15+ years, and stayed at many of the resorts, and this one is above and beyond my favorite. I also have stayed at many 5-star hotels (including the Fairmont Mayakoba), and Blue Diamond is on par in terms of service, rooms, shared spaces, etc. Our room was enormous, comfortable, and absolutely gorgeous, with complete privacy. We did not hear so much as a peep the entire time were in the room - it was super quiet/peaceful. I loved the architecture and design. The bathroom was breathtaking and huge, with beautiful marble/tiles, floor to ceiling windows and skylights, and two large showers with rain showerheads overlooking the spacious & private outdoor patio and bath. The staff were incredible - Cesar, Oberlin, Daniel.. too many to list!! I consider myself to be a bit of a foodie, and was very pleased with the food options. The menus have a great variety. I loved the guac & chips and the sea bass sashimi at lunch. Breakfasts were amazing overlooking the ocean - the eggs were super fresh. Their oatmeal/avena is a must have. Dinner at Ambar was lovely. The beach was gorgeous. (I read some reviews about rocks at the beach and was concerned, but there was only one tiny patch of them close to shore that could easily be avoided). Blue Diamond considers the smaller touches, like free phone calls, welcome drinks and champagne upon arrival, accommodating special requests, etc. The main pool overlooking the ocean is gorgeous, albeit on the smaller side, and there is also a lap/infinity pool. Loved the gym and spa as well! The Rosewood, Fairmont, and Banyan Tree are neighboring hotels and a pretty short walk by beach.

Blue Diamond has something for everyone, because there is ample privacy and it is on the quiet side, but if you want to be social, we found the other guests to be outgoing and warm. We were all in a blissful state - how could you not be! I cannot wait to return.

Note: I knew what to expect in terms of the layout of the resort stretching inland, but it is good to be aware that the rooms are spread out and very few are oceanfront (you can check it out on google maps). We stayed in Room 334 (0.3 miles from the beach), and it was a quick bike ride to/from the beach or the lobby. I loved biking through the paths to get to and from the room - you feel like you are in a lush, green paradise. Or you can call for a car/cart and they come quickly.

My Husband and I chose Blue Diamond to celebrate our honeymoon. We have never done a trip like this before, and we had a really nice time. The grounds are beautiful, from the moment you arrive you will be amazed at the beauty of Blue Diamond. From the lobby area all the way down to the beach you are surrounded by beautiful buildings and lush greens. Overall a great trip.
Pros:
Nice, clean rooms - beautiful private patio
Food and Drinks are top notch - 9 out of 10 meals (food-wise) were perfection
Having bikes to get around was amazing
Stocked bar was perfect
Plush bathrobes
Spa was awesome and amazing! Great Massages.
Some of the Staff - Cesar, Hugo, Daniel, Mario and all the ladies working in the lobby - they made the trip!

Cons:
No hot water in the room upon arrival - the front desk told us to run the water - it had to run for 20 minutes to get hot.
"Accidental" 6 am wake up call we didn't ask for.
Use the Safe provided! We did not (too trusting) and we had some money taken by the cleaning staff. The situation was documented, but I would have liked the staff to do more about the situation other than a lot of "i'm sorry's".
Some of the staff - We felt over time that some of the staff saw us and thought "oh! those are those nice american kids - we can take our time waiting on them". We found that people who were pompous or rude actually got good service. We understood that meals were very laid back and relaxed - we enjoyed that. But there were several meals where we were straight up forgotten. At one point I got up from the lunch table and just ordered drinks at the bar myself. Some of the staff at Aquamarine were too busy blaming other staff and trying to be funny rather than doing their job.
Sunken tub outside - Do not spend the extra money for this - it is a pain. Not only do you have to call someone every time you want it filled(takes about 20 minutes to get someone to come to the room, and then 10 minutes to clean and fill it), but they will only fill it with cold water.
Overall the trip was great - some of that has to do with martial bliss, and some of that has to do with Blue Diamond being a beautiful hotel. I also want to mention - the hotel was only 26% Full when we went - which was great! The spa was always empty and we had our pick of chairs on the beach and by the pool. I would be cautious about going when it is totally full - part of what we enjoyed was the privacy and exploring the grounds without it being crowded.

It's safe to say that the time I spent at the Blue Diamond was the highlight of my summer. Those five days were spent lounging by the pool with drinks, laying on the beach eating ceviche (their ceviche was hands down the best ceviche I had ever had..ever), and making three-course meals out of every meal possible--even mid-day snacks. The property is gorgeous--you feel like you're in your own little world! The rooms are amazing--walk-in closet, view of the lagoon, etc. And the staff is absolutely amazing! The waiters were so accommodating and fun. Guillermo, my absolute favorite member of the staff, always found a way to make me laugh! But most importantly, the staff truly made us feel like they wanted to help us. There were no forced smiles, no attitudes, nothing! They went out of their way to make our stay amazing. When I had an allergic reaction to a bug bite and they couldn't find medicine on the premises to give me, they sent a staff member into Playa del Carmen (roughly 20 minutes away) just to get it for me!!! They will probably be seeing us again…perhaps every year…maybe even twice a year.

Room Tip: Beach-front, if possible (since it's right next to the pools and restaurants). If not--they tran...

A really nice resort, very quite and romantic. The rooms are gorgeous: very large, beautifully decorated with amazing patio overlooking the laguna. There is a champaign bottle ready in your room upon your arrival.
There are only three restaurants, but the menu changes every night night. All food is fresh, natural, and very delicious. My favorite place was "Ceviche – Tapas" - a small bar overlooking the ocean. It's waiter Cesar went above and beyond to provide the best service and made my trip unforgettable!
