If you like driving in a line through a Natural Reseve then find 100 other people in the village of Punta Allen trying to park their jeep just somewhere (there are all around this little village), just to follow one single dolphin with 15 other boats and then try to snorkel without hitting your neighbours fins... if that's your style - then this tour is for you. I would highly recommend to rent a jeep on your own, drive down carefully and enjoy the nature on your way, take a boat early in the morning and see the wonders of the Biosphere before the jeep tour expedition arrives.

My husband and I chose this tour out of many offered, because it felt like it would be more authentic. Sian Ka'an is a UNESCO biosphere. As we travel we trust UNESCO as one of our travel guides. Our experience was certainly authentic. It is true that the ride is about two hours once you reach Tulum. We chose the open air truck, holding about 30-40, instead of the jeep for four. We wanted to observe nature more than drive a jeep. We also were able to meet other travelers and learn from our guide more about the biosphere. Our guide, Richard, really made the trip come alive. His enthusiasm became contagious. It was a great adventure, especially if you like fast boat rides, snorkeling, swimming in an A+ lagoon. The lunch was hearty, authentic Mexican. Recommend it. But not if you have a bad back! The road was rugged with lots of pot holes.

We rented the jeeps with several friends and it was a very nice experience. You get to drive them yourselves over rugged terrain and it includes a boat tour and snorkeling as well. The drive is quite long, about 2 hours one way, so you need to like the driving adventure. The lunch was good and the scenery is just amazing. For me it was worth the money definitely. Enjoy !

This tour sounded fantastic for me and my husband, we wanted to go somewhere different and we certainly made it. The tour guides were really nice and they do speak a lot of languages.

The food wasn't that good, they showed us some photos of the menu and the food didn't look like it.

Sian Ka'an is beautiful, the only thing is that is it a 2 1/2 drive each way from playa del carmen (ad 1 hour and 20 minutes if you are coming from cancun), if you do not like spending long hours in the car then this is not an option for you.

In general the experience is great but a little too overpriced.

Do not book this tour the day before you leave, its pretty exhausting. Its 2 hours each way through the jungle, off roading in stick shift jeeps ( no automatic, we didn't know that). Our trip was massive. Too many people, i thought, but understandable. Once you reach Punta Allen, you are brought to boats captained by local lobster fishermen. I loved them. They were happy, jovial, giving of themselves. We saw sea turtles, wild dolphins, ginormous starfish. Then a delicious meal. Total bummage to then have to drive back...2 hours on bumpy dirt roads. Very tiring. Our tour guide, John Paul, spoke Dutch, English, and Spanish. He was funny, attentive, and wicked informative. Some of the most gorgeous sights in Mexico will be seen on this trip.
