My wife and I had planned a trip to Mexico for March of 2013. While we were discussing things we could experience, she found Barry's Maya Can Eco Tours. All his reviews were good so she decided to give him a call. He was quite courteous and friendly over the phone and within a few minutes she knew he would provide the experience we were looking for. Barry was quite patient and quickly ascertained the types of activities we enjoyed. So on April 2, Barry picked us up at 8:00 am at our resort and took us on the best adventure we had in our entire vacation. We snorkelled in Akumel for a few hours then it was off to the Grand Cenote to cool off. From there we had a traditional Mexican meal at a restaurant in Tulum and then we toured the ruins. Awesome. Barry was a wealth of information about the people, culture, and history of the area without ever sounding like a tour guide reading from a script. We returned to the hotel by 6:00 pm fully satisfied and worn out. Then Barry invited us to dinner in Playa del Carmen at Romeo's on 4th and 10th. A quaint little Italian restaurant that served the most delicious food. By far this excursion was the highlight of our entire vacation. We will be back to Playa del Carmen for years to come and we will be booking more tours with Barry.

Our day started at 8.30 with Barry and his driver Mar picking us up from our hotel lobby. From there we headed straight to Akumal, snorkeling with turtles, stingrays, squid and all kinds of beautiful fish among the largest living reef in the world. My husband who is a strong swimmer but a complete novice to snorkeling needed a little time to adapt but Barry was super friendly and patient and in no time we were both "pros"!

Then we headed to the Gran Cenote, truly beautiful and the water was so refreshing, again we had plenty of time in the water, exploring the caves, Barry's a really chilled out guy, letting us have as much time as we wanted and pointed out interesting sights and fun facts.

Lunch was at a tasty little seafood spot where I picked Barry's brain for any local knowledge and restaurant/sightseeing tips and my husband and Mar talked futbol. We're not big meat eaters so the fish tacos were great for us, but Barry is very flexible and works around your preferences, we just wanted to get all the swimming activities out of the way before we had a meal.

To finish the day we visited Tulum, where we spent a couple of hours walking around the ruins and grabbing photos of huge iguanas! And the beach... words can not describe just how beautiful it is.

Our day ended at about 7pm, getting dropped off at the hotel, great conversation and tips from Barry and even a gift of tee shirts for both of us! Really great day and we would recommend it to anyone.

We had the good fortune of spending a day with Barry, and his driver Eric, during our trip to Playa, and just don't have enough positives to say about our experience. We had talked with Barry prior to the trip to decide what we wanted to do--snorkeling at Akumal, then to Grand Cenote, and ending the day at Tulum. Barry and Eric took care of everything--driving us around, helping with equipment, getting tickets....whatever we needed, or wanted. Barry was also great for our first-time snorkeling teenagers, and we all felt very safe. At Akumal we saw 500 lb turtles, more fish than we could remember, a huge ray, a barracuda.....it was unbelievable! The cenote was an amazing, unique experience. And Tulum, perched on a cliff above the water, is a definite must-see. We areally appreciated Barry's knowledge and enthusiam of the area, in addition to his respect for the fish and environment. We also appreciated Eric as our driver, who was at the van during our activities, so we had no fear about leaving our valuables behind. Barry took us to an amazing restaurant in the town of Tulum (complete with recommendations on their specialties), and even helped us navigate a local pharmacy to find some ear drops for my daughter. On top of all this, we enjoyed great conversation about local history, economic development, American football....you name it. We left the day exhausted, but thrilled with the wonderful experiences. Barry treats you like his most valued client, but makes you feel like a good friend. Can't wait to return to spend another day with Barry on more adventures!

We spent a day with Barry and had a fantastic time. Because we were alone with him we could tailor the tour to our desires. First was Akamul Beach and what was to be 1 hour in the waters turned into 2 1/2 hours. He took us to places on the reef that larger groups could not see due to the amount of peoples to supervise. What a wonderful place to explore. Next we went to a small Mexican Eatery for local Fish Taco and that was delicious. Lastly we visited a Cenote. I can't remember its name but it was fantastic, lots of fish, a small cliff to jump off, scuba divers down below doing the caves and so green. There were even small fish who would nibble at you when you were still. Barry was a fantastic guide, relaxed and willing to do what you want as long as you want. It took us three tries to make it to Akamul due to the weather and he just persevered until we could make it a go. Thank you for a wonderful trip above and beyond what we expected.

This was our second adventure with Maya Can in as many years, didnt know how we could top last years adventure (Coba Tilum, Honey factory, Gran Cenote) but he did. We really wanted to visit Akalum this year and see the sea turtles so this was the start of our adventure this year. Not only did we see giant turtels but also sting rays, puffer fish, parrot fish, barracuda, tuna, and a massive school of herring, it was crazy. We were then of to the Honey factory again stocked up on all sorts of products. Visited the family next door to the factory they sell all sorts of mexican products at a third of the price as in town. Then we were off to a open pit cenote (Garden of Eden Cenote) you can jump in(about 12 feet) or there is a staircase as well. Tons of little fish crystal clear water a real magical place. What ever you want to do Barry or or his driver Eric will make it happen. This is the best tour company in Playa bar none. Give them a call if you like a personal tour not the massive tour bus thing you will not be dissapointed, nothing but Good things to say about these guys
