We found this cenote on Tripadvisor. However when we asked the reception desk or guest service, none of the personel had ever heard of the existance of this cenote. Every person gave us a map will all the "famous" cenotes where all tourists go to.

When I asked a local taxi driver he knew exactly where it was. We drove from Playacar (Sandos) to this cenote for 200 pesos and agreed with the taxi driver that he would pick us up in 2 hours (it is advicable to arrange the taxi back, as you will end up in the middle of nowhere).

How to drive:
From Playacar (or Playa del Carmen) you first go to Avenida Juarez. This road you will follow all the way north untill the asphalt road stops (it stops beside the collega MayaLand). From here you will enter a sandy road. This road you will need to continu for approximately 2km. Than the cenote is found on your right hand.

The cenote itself is beautiful and very quite (in total you will find 2 cenotes and 1 dry cenote / cave). For example we were there as the only 4 persons. When we left 5 others came.

Price:
Locals pay 50 pesos to enter
Foreigners pay 100 pesos

TIP: DON'T go here by tour, they may charge you crazy amounts of money and the staff (1 old man) are extremely helpful (the only disadvantage is that he doesn't speak english)

although very crowded and one of the most popular stops after a visit to the ruins this stands out as one of the most visually spectacular centoes we visited. The small restaurant nearby is staffed by friendly people with plentiful filling food.

I was suprised to find this spot on trip advisor it is more out of the way and not to touristy, they have 3 different cenotes, one of which you can dive underwater for a few feet and come up in a completly different cavern. Dont try it without the guides help.

I never thought my husband and I would go swimming in a cave, but we did - and we loved it! It was a rare and unexpected experience.
