Xulam offers a true Mayan experience. Food was authentic and delicious, service was great, and the atmosphere really helped set the mood for a fun evening. It's not inexpensive, but worth splurging on at least once if you're in the area.

My girlfriend and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. We don't have any regrets. The food was great (I had the fajita's and my gf had the lobstertail and beef filet, both cooked very well). After that we ordered desert, and all the waiters went out of their way to make it one we would never forget (my girlfriend secretly told them it was our anniversary). Order the Chichen Itza dessert, it was divine!

Oh, and parrots. Beautiful parrots.

Xulam is new to the area and less than five minutes from Playacar Palace. It was recommended to us by a couple staying at our resort. Our waiter Cesar Miguel was fantastic - as was the food! - plus we really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant.

Well thought out decor and menu, spectacular atmosphere and attentive service combined with many choices for apps and dinner.
Sitting outside is nice but if thats full the decor of the dining room is stunning... Mayan and Mexican dishes are the fare.

We stopped in this restaurant last night based on reviews from this site so decided to leave our opinion to help others decide. We are staying in playacar and this restaurant is at the entrance to playacar so it was a very quick walk there. We were a little nervous at first as we were the only family there. We had no need to be nervous though. Our entire party was overwhelmed by how great the service and food were. Presentation was excellent for food and drinks were tasty. We had the chocolate pyramid which was a hit for kids but this was the only part of the meal the adults did not like. Mayan coffee is a must here. We have had it previously but this was by far the best presentation we had seen. This place has been our most expensive meal yet at about $160 us dollars but this included 6 meals (salads, steaks on a cabob, shrimp, soups, and dessert) and 8 large and delicious frozen adult beverages and 6 sodas. A great deal back home but a little costly here. Even with the higher price and so many other wonderful restaurants in the area to choose from in one week stay, my family is still planning to revisit before we leave on Saturday. It was that good.
