The service was wonderful. The beach was very clean, and relaxing. Our mini bar, and refrigerator was always stocked, along with great housekeeping. We plan on returning again very soon. I wouldn't change a thing. Everyone worked very well together in coordinating activities, and transportation.

Just came back yesterday from a week vacation with my boyfriend and another couple. Overall, our stay was great.

1. Hotel/Room
Ground is beautiful and looks luxury. It's about 1 - 1.5 hrs away from Cancun airport and it's located in a gated area. Room is modern and very clean. I can see it would be a problem if traveling with friends as there's no privacy in the room, but for us, it was totally fine. Lots of alcohol, water and pops in the fridge. Lots of reviews mentioned about the musty smell, but the smell is just tropical weather smell. Did not bother us at all.

2. Food
We tried the steakhouse, Mexican and Italian. We went to book the a la carte restaurants at 8:10am one day and we were #27, but we still got the restaurant we wanted to try. One day, we went at 9:15am and we got the Italian. It might look busy if you go right at 8:00, but once pass 8:45, there's usually no line up. All 3 restaurants were great.

The buffet is awesome. On gala night, there are lobsters, clams and even salmon wellington. On regular night, lots of options. Lots of fresh fish, sashimi, octopus. Mango is fresh and sweet. You need to try the Popsicles. They are only available at the dinner buffet and sometimes by the pool.

3. Drinks
I like the lobby bar the most. They have don Julio, also very good mojito. The latte at the 24 hr lounge is great. Cappuccino palace and ice coffee at the cappuccino bar is awesome!

4. Beach
Long stretch of beach. Turquoise warm water. Sand is above average, but not the best. Lots of chairs. A walk to 5th Ave is about 30 mins.

5. Entertainment
The usual all inclusive entertainment, Michael Jackson show, fire show and kids show. Walked across to Riu Tequila a couple times to the night club, but not many people party there. Lobby bar closes around midnight, so not much happening after that.

I rated this hotel a 4.5 because of the following reasons.

1. My friends requested morning call twice, but one morning, they never called.
2. Most of the time, we received excellent service with a smile, but here and there, they would forget our drinks and orders.
3. Check in/check out was not fast.

Overall, everything was great. Paying a bit more to stay at the palace was worth it.

This is a great hotel. People were very nice since day one, food is great, rooms 100% clean. You got 3 pools so you can choose because mostly the one in the middle is crowded.
There are shows starting at 8 pm and while having some drinks or dinner.
I recommend this place 100% if you are planning to have a relax time in the Caribe. :)

Room Tip: Rooms from 030 to 040 are the closest to the pool so you dont have to walk that much :)

This property is very well presented.
Many Europeans visit here, some with younger children. We don't mind kids, we have three, but when we get a chance to get away, we usually like to go where there is a better chance of piece and quiet.
Nuff said 'bout that.
The grounds of this resort are the nicest I've seen. Not a blade of grass out of place.
The beach is sandy, however, not a great place to swim. Gets deep quickly and has big wave deflectors to stop erosion that take away from the looks of the waters edge. Also, the waves can be quite large. Not an easy place for a relaxing swim.
The food is exceptional. Each meal thoughtfully prepared and presented. Lots of flavor, not bland at all.
Located a short (20 minute walk) to Playa. Lots to see along the way.
The beverages were very good. Selection, quality, not watered down like some resorts.

We just returned from an amazing vacation at the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen. This resort is excellent. The location is great, right on the beach, across the road from the small shopping area of Playacar, and a nice walk or taxi ride to Playa del
Carmen's "5th Avenue".

I cant say enough about how hard the staff work at this hotel. Everyone has a smile and a hello as you walk by. They are endlessly cleaning, and bending over backwards to meet your needs. Your enjoyment and comfort are their goal, and the achieve that.

The beach area is beautiful, with ample sun and shade, we never had to get up early to get a lounger. I'm not sure if the same applies around the 4 pools, as we are definately beach people and that is where we spent our time.

The rooms are spotless, and well decorated. It might take you a few minutes to get used to the open bathroom concept, but this is easily dealt with by pulling the privacy curtain. The shower and toilet have their own doors.

The food even in the buffet is some of the best I've ever eaten at an all inclusive. When there look up Joel and Eliel for some amazing service. These two made our dining a super experience. They were professional and couldn't do enough for you. They could definately give some of our servers at home lessons.

The bars are plentiful, and again the staff are amazing. Marliely, Hiram and Nando are definately the highlight our our vacation. We learned some new Spanish words, and they were so friendly and hard working. Never did I see any of them without a smile, and a kind word for everyone even when they were at full capacity.

Overall an amazing resort that I would reccomend to anyone.

Room Tip: If you go to bed before 11pm, request a room towards the pool and not the lobby end of the hotel. T...

We travelled as family party of 12 - Aged from just 4 mths to (almost) 60yrs. This hotel was perfect for all of us. The pools were great and the beach was stunning!
Our room was spacious and was kept immaculate everyday by the cleaners - they did a great job!
The staff couldn't do enough for us and the children's entertainers were great.
The food was fantastic - the buffet was excellent, our personal favourite al a carte restaurants were the Italian and the Mexican. You could never get bored of the food as there is so much choice.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hopefully one day we will.

Just got back today..............All I can say is the best hotel I have ever been through, great for adults and kids. The food has a wide variety and tastes A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The service was amazing as well and although the pools don't look great they are in person! ALL I CAN SAY IS_WOW_

Room Tip: Top floor was great!
