We found this place by accident. It was the best most romantic meal of our trip. We look forward to dining there again on our next holiday. We had a wonderful meal, wine, and the personal service was awesome. Highly recommended!

We went to Curry Omm on the last night of our holiday and really wish that we had found it earlier! After 3 weeks in Mexico we were getting bored of Mexican food and craving our saturday night curry. It was quite a walk from where we were staying near 5th Avenue, but worth it as it was set in a much quieter location away from all of the hassle of the street sellers. The restaurant is small and cosy and has a homely feel. The owners are very friendly and the service was great. The currys were not like the modern British Indian cuisine we are used to in the UK, but simple and tasty and good for when you're looking for something different to Mexican.

When you visit Playa, or live here, as we have for the past nine years, it is refreshing to have something else than restaurants who serve mexican, italian or french cuisine.
There you can have a taste of Indian cuisine. Simple place, simple presentation but tasty and different. I give it an average score not because the food is not good but because the variety is not as wide as i would have liked.
One small bad note: they only have menues in english, a faux pas in my book, hey guys we are in Mexico here, make the effort of translating it to spanish please.

My fiance and I spent 2 weeks in Playa del Carmen in June 2011, staying at the Royal. Towards the end of our stay, we were bored of the hotel food (and didn't really enjoy it), and were craving Indian food, so after a quick google, found the Curry Omm on 10th Avenue.

The restaurant is very small, and run by a lovely couple; we arrived late (around 9pm; it close at 10pm) but they were very accommdating and the service wasn't at all rushed. To start, we had samosas and popadoms with chutney etc, which were lovely, and we then ordered a double portion of chicken tikka (warning: a single starter portion would suffice, it was huge! We ate it all though ;-) ), rice, and chicken tikka massala. Other diners had ordered a vegetable curry which looked delicious. The tikka massala is veyr different to what you'd get back in Britain, so don't go expecting it to be like it is at home; however, it was very tasty, and we loved the tikka with yoghurt dip. The food is reasonably priced: samosas were about 45 pesos for 2, main courses start at 100 pesos and include rice; drinks were very reasonable.

It was our favourite meal of our holiday, and had we gone earlier in our stay, we'd have returned without a doubt. Definitely worth a visit!
