Unlike a lot of the reviews, I enjoyed the experience at Alux. Aside from the questionable seating arrangement (we were the first people to arrive and yet the host seated us in the front by the bar, when others arrived they were seated by the back, near the cenote), we had a great time. It is a very large cave, and they allow you to walk around freely to explore the rest of the dining area, which meanders about another 100 yards past the entrance.
We ordered the lobster ravioli and the Mayan Chicken and two salads. The salads were a good size portion but the main entrees I considered small, about 5-6 raivioli and a very small chicken breast, about 6-8 oz. Other than this I had no complaints, as it was very tasty and presented well.
All in all I believe the total came to around $120 with a bottle of wine. For the experience alone I believe it was worth it. How many times can you say you dined in a cave?
