A must see when in Playa del Carmen! A very unique restaurant in a cave. Many interesting settings and even has a dance floor! Very large and the rooms seem to go on and on. You just can't believe you are in a cave.

Alux was recommended to us by our concierge, and we were not disappointed. It was so cool to have dinner in a real cave! We had heard from someone that it was a tourist trap, and only good for drinks and snacks, but we did NOT find that to be the case.
Our server was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and making recommendations. We had salads, which were okay, and surf and turf for 2, which was phenomenal! There were shrimp, lobster tails, and several different cuts of meat (loved the beef medallions and arrachera), all of which were tender and tasty. Our wine was excellent and very complimentary to our meal.
It was a wonderful dinner and a great place to dine!

Dinner in a cenote was quite an amazing experience! The surroundings were breathtaking, the food was very good. It was a relatively pricey meal ($60 per person) but we had drinks and it was well worth the ability to experience something so unique. My only complaint was that their wine pour was hugely lacking. He said the bottle got six to seven glasses and we were a bit surprised until we realized what they consider a glass of wine. Nonetheless I would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend it...won't ever forget it!

We went to this Restaurant with a large group. At first when we got there, the outside doesn't say much & is actually in a not too nice area. Then once you walk down the stairs, you are amazed. Every area in this cave is incredible. After we ordered our meals, we were given a tour. Lots of little areas. Could see many engagements & weddings happening in the private areas. There was only one issue that we had & that was it was humid. They tried their very best to get fans blowing which was a little better. Perhaps they could get some AC in there. Food is good & presented creatively. Can't wait to bring others to this Gem in Playa.

The food was good - I had spaghetti with squid cooked in its own ink, followed by icecream and it was relatively expensive but very tasty. But what makes it such an amazing experience is the surroundings. It will remain as one of my most memorable dinners because of the setting, looking round at the stalactites and natural rock formations in the moody lighting made for a very atmospheric, intimate dinner.
It would never be my regular eatery, but I would highly recommend it as a one off, and would more than likely go back for a treat if I was in the area again.
