This wasn't the best meal we've ever had, but the choices on the menu were different and interesting. Suggest you try some things you've never had before. The plastic covers on the plates are a little odd, and they make you wonder about the dish washing, or lack of it, but we ate anyway.
They have an interesting marguerita type drink made with fresca. Nothing fancy about this place but they were nice and friendly and had good service.

After one week in Playa del Carmen we _finally_ find a genuine Mexican fantastic meal with well combined tastes, textures and ingredients. The place does not look like much but oh my god the food was lovely! And at very affordable prices. Be sure to try the wheat tortilla with cheese, smoked tuna and cilantro sauce.
Best restaurant of our vacation yet, and the most price worthy. Good service too!

The location of this branch of Los Aguachiles is on Constituyentes just east of 5th Avenue. I don't know when they opened at this location, but it was very convenient and the fish and shrimp tacos were fresh, delicious, and inexpensive. Great for a light dinner or lunch when you want the real deal in the heart of the shopping area.

Yep, there are two within a mile of each other in Playa. The location at calle 34 & av 25 closes at 7:30pm so beware; the other is open late.

With that cleared up we LOVED this place and had one of our best meals in Mexico. We ordered all kinds of tacos and ceviche and guac and they were all fantastic...and good priced. We even loved the sauces so much we bought a bottle of one and used it on our own creations in our condo.

Easy to order with English menu and good service. This is a must visit for everytime we are in Playa.

We wanted real Mexican food so headed away from 5th and over to Los Aguachiles based on Trip Advisor reviews. The place is simple, clean, open air. The waiter spoke some English and gave us an English menu. There were 6 different bottled salsas on the table to have with the tortillas that arrived immediately. Can't say what they were but all good and varying degrees of heat.

We ordered guacamole with chips, 2 Sol and 2 tacos each. The guacamole was huge and fresh, with a side of tomatoes, pickled onions and sunflower sprouts. The chips were dusted in lime & chili seasoning salt. I had a prawn taco and a fish taco, both topped with pickled onion and cabbage. We were given the choice of corn or flour tortilla - we both ordered corn, and my tacos came with 1 soft, although fried, tortilla each. I ordered the "tempura" version for the fish taco. While tasty, the batter was a bit soggy. The prawn taco was much better. My BF ordered the same prawn taco and a pork taco. The pork taco came folded and fried in the tortilla. Unfortunately I don't recall what kind of pork it was, but damn was it good. It was towards the bottom of the English menu.

We left stuffed (although we weren't that hungry to start with), and didn't even finish the guacamole, all for under 200 pesos. Definitely recommend this place if you are willing tp get off the beaten path and try real Mexican food.
