“The foods a hit! The service misses.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

We were greatly looking forward to this restaurant based on other Trip Advisor recommendations. After getting drinks and placing an order for one soup and two meals, we expected some tortillas or bread to arrive. Nothing. So we waited. Still nothing. I began wondering about my soup. Still nothing! Finally . . . . ta da! It all came at once . . . bread, tortillas, my soup and both entrees. My wife's crusted chicken was already cold, and my tequila shrimp were sure to be cold before I finished my soup. When we pointed this out to the manager, he apologized profusely, took the entrees back, reheated the chicken and kept my shrimp warm. Coffee and a second cerveza were on the house. On the positive side, all the food was tasty. Homemade tortillas were terrific. We can recommend the crusty chicken and the tequila shrimp. Also enjoyed the mashed potatoes with cheese and spinach. We enjoyed the food despite the service problem.

“Great”

We stayed at Aventura Mexicana and ate at Mayan Bistro a couple of times. Beautiful freshly prepared food, generous drinks, and wonderful warm service. The owner of the restaurant takes very personal interest and pride in everything coming out of the kitchen. We loved it!

“Great restaurant...great food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

We stayed at Aventura Mexicana for a week with a much appreciated VIP all inclusive food and drink. So it allowed us to go thru a good part of the menu, trying something new every day. The food was really goo, and was kindof difficult to decide what to have, because you're always tempted to take what you took the day before.....but it was always really good. Only down side if it is one....portions are very generous, so many nights, i couldn't even order dessert we ate so much.
As for the bar, George is very friendly and made the drinks extra special with fruit slices...

The servers were also very nice... thanks again to Nicholas, Gabby,Dora and Diego..... thanks again Nicholas for the pictures you took for us.

Chris, restaurant manager, does a great job to make these guys work like a team. As with our stay at Aventura Mexicana, everything was perfect. give it a try, you won't regret it.

“Even better than before!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

This was our second visit to the Aventura and we decided to go for the VIP package...all inclusive. The food was fantastic. We had the chance to sit with Chris, the manager, for long periods and just BS about surfing and other topics. Gabby and Nicholas were also incredible and friendly servers.
Our next visit to Playa will be back at the Aventura and our meals taken at the Mayan Bistro.

“Excellent”

Enjoyed two meals on our latest visit to PDC. We were treated like family despite not staying at Aventura this year.( Opted for a condo as we brought our husbands this time.)
The shrimp in tequila sauce is perfection.Crusted chicken was so good it was repeated on second visit. To top it all off we were treated to after dinner drinks with strawberries and chocolates. Don't miss Happy Hour from 4-7... Jorge's Pina coladas are a work of art.
