“Perfect location, beautiful--terrible service.”

Beautiful but terrible service. Restaurants weren't great, but location was amazing. I would stay again, but only if we rented the penthouse again--the rooftop pool is great place to gather and have drinks, very spacious and great views of city and beach.

We vacationed in playa for a week in mid december, and ended up choosing this resort. Everything was new, and the unit we rented was actually noticeably nicer than the pictures. It sounds like from talking to a few guests they had done a lot of renovation work in november. The location was why we picked this place and we ended up renting from someone who owned a membership at this particular resort. It was expensive, but I think it was worth the price. We met another couple there who was renting from a property management company.. Mystic I think it was and they managed a few units for a few full-time owners and their experience wasn't quite as nice as ours. I love mexico and the playa del carmen so this resort had it all for me.

I was a little nervous about staying at this resort because of all the reviews, from the moment we arrived we were treated amazingly by a team of concierge, they welcome me and my husband with a fresh towel and a mimosa, our room had an excelent view to playa mamitas! We didnt have any problems with the A.C.. We also had the oportunity to see La Divina, this is their new project at aldea thai! its Beautiful!! Definetly all the remodeling was worth it! When you visit Aldea Thai be sure to ask about it! We were so in love with the exclusiveness and service provided we didnt doubt to become members with them! Its location is incredible... 5th avenue is only a block away, we did much shopping, tours, and enjoyed delicious gourmet dinners! Karla our concierge was beautiful!! We cant wait to see her next year!

This hotel was great - the suites are spacious and I loved our private pool! The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are clean.

It has an excellent location just a few steps away from Mamitas/the beach and avenida 5.

We spend one night in this hotel... Not very happy about it. First the hotel is having some construction so the floor is cover in dust and of course the floor of our room was a total mess. After the workers are done for the day, they didn't clean anything!! Right by our door was a little mountain of white dust. In the morning i was looking for a plastic bag and instead i found some condom and ring vibrator wrappers from the last guests.
Service was good. Good for a night but definitely not coming back!

Don't be fooled by the pictures online, this place is currently under construction and the noise, along with the broken air conditioner, makes the place a constant reminder that we paid too much for too little. What a shame, the pictures are so inviting with a peaceful surrounding. Not so. Your money is better spent with a place that lives up to its reputation. Most of the rooftop units share the noise of late night parties that last till 6am, only to wake to the construction noidse and its workers whistling at our female guest as she enters the condo. Also note that there are two owners in this complex and we were approached by the other owner who promised such problems do niot exist in his units he owns. I am not na picky traveler, one who comes to Mexico twice as year understands there will be problems. What I can not accept is the false advertising and broken promises of "Luxury." Red flag this one folks and know your money is better spent elsewhere in Playa.

Room Tip: no good room for the money

We stayed here Aug 15-22. The place is very Nice. Just not "Westin-Omni-Timeshare-US Standards- Plush" nice. It is unique: not quite a hotel (no food outlets or bars), not quite condos. But it does have a front desk, valet parking, and concierge. If you know any spanish it will come in very handy. Bring a dictionary. Some people speak english (those interacting with the public directly and often) but many do not. Use your Spanish - it's a good oppty. to try and "live with the locals" and be a bit immersed in the language and culture.

It's a bit confusing how the place is run: there seem to be up to (3) different mgt companies - La Divina, Mistik, and Bric. This comes into play when, for example, the AC does not work in 1of the BRs (our prob, all week). who to call? it was difficult to explain at the desk. (speaking of the Desk..KELLY is great. She may be American? completely bi-lingual).
Something that would be helpful: when you check in, it would be nice to get some info such as, 'is there housekeeping provided'. We did not know (answer: yes. They came every day). I had a hard time finding out about where / how to do laundry. I didn't mind doing it myself but it took visits both La Divina and Mistik to learn (in spanish: "Lavandaria"). There is, down 2 levels in the parking structure, a laundry service room. You pay per weight. They are very nice (they do the laundry). It cost about $4 US for a couple day's worth (family of 3).
Also it would be helpful to know who to contact for things like housekeeping in the room, troubles with the unit, etc. We were on our own to figure that out.

THE LAYOUT: we had a 3rd floor unit. It is very spacious, and 2 levels. The top level is a roof top entertainment patio and your own private pool. However we did not spend time up there b/c during the day it was a "gazillion" degrees, and at night we couldn't figure out how to turn on the patio lights. But being a private person's rental.. we did not know whom to ask. There is (1) elevator only. It is quite small and with the heat/humidity.. gets musty. Learning the word "Permiso" (excuse me) is a good place to start.

The 2 BR unit is very spacious, each with its own bath. Large living area, large kitchen complete with all dishes, etc., and a large fridge. No complaints at all.
The valet guys at Aldea Thai are very nice - best to valet rather than deal with the unpaved road and odd parking structure yourself.
The POOL is very nice - so warm. There is a swim-up bar but it's very basic. (it's not the "cancun resort experience") but the people are friendly and they let you do what you want (we played in the pool with a tennis ball and football and had a great time).
The LOCATION is very good if you like going to the beach. Ask the Concierge for a day-pass to MAMITA's beach club. That will get you a discount on food/drink, and a place to park it (2 lounge chairs and umbrella).
LOCATION: really good - however, be prepared to see un-paved roads, un-finished construction, and sort of hap-hazardly built shops and bars right nearby. This is normal.
It is close to the beach - so you hear the thump thump thump of the club-type music all day from the beach clubs. This ends about 7pm.
There is a VERY good pizza place right next to ALDEA THAI. Nice young men work there, who communicate very well. We got pizza and salad twice.

A couple blocks away (like another review said) is "5th". You will find Wifi (feeling much more connected!) at the starbucks, and also a GREAT non-starbucks place called Ah-Cacoa. (say hi to Cecilia; and the manager speaks fluent English). Also on 5th: excellent restaurants including IL BARETTA (Italian) and LAS DELICIAS (mexican) and the ONLY place for great bfast LA VAGABUNDA. Lots of shops along 5th, reminescent of Tijuana. There is also excellent Gelato.

ANOTHER NOTE on LOCATION: it is not far from the MEGA (grocery store) so you can get groceries, etc. It's walkable, but better if you have a car.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor has the large entertainment patio and private pool
