Just came back from Playa del Carmen and I feel obligated to write a review about Hotel La Tortuga... What a superb service! The staff is excellent! Specially Yanina and Carlos, super polite and friendly!!! Congratulations!!! Now about the room... Yes it was ok but really we did not spend too much time there, between the tours; Coba, Xel-Ha, Xcaret, Tulum and walking around Playa del Carmen, we were not there from morning till late night. We got a room facing the street and we were not bothered by the noise; not coco bongo, not traffic. The furniture was a bit old and tired but ok, the bathroom a bit small. Free wi-fi in the room, the breakfast is awesome!!!! Visit Playa and..... Viva Mexico!!!

Well, our entire experience at this little Gem has exceded our expectations. They are very aware if their ranking on TripnAdvisor and their staff genuinelly  strives to please. It is true. They go out of their way to remember you by name. Everytime you walk through their lobby they offer fresh towels that you can take off premise. Oh, and their breakfast deserves an honorable mention. I usually categorize "free meals" as just ok promotional incentives to hook you in. Not here. In my opinion their breakfast is under rated. In fact. Their on site restaurant "El Bistro" was exceptionally deliciuos and reasonably priced compared to places on 5th.

Ooh, their pool and garden are an oasis to walk into after a loong hot stroll on quinta or laying out on the beach. This is an adult only hotel so no romper room by the pool just couples reading a book or enjoying a nice dip in their cool and refreshing pools.  Which by the way are deep enough in places that once you walk off the steps you're under water so watch that drink!  It is so serine there are even "quiet signs" by means of a picture with a native  symbolically placing his finger over its mouth.

Location is  king. One block and you are literally in the heart of "La Quinta Avenida". And, just a 15 minute stroll takes you to wallmart for small provisions. A walk to the beach is about 7 minutes.

Rooms. Don't expect big oversized bedrooms. We had the junior suite with a private roof top terrace and jacuzzi. They had a flat screen. Shower big enough for two or even three. Double sinks and the strongest air conditioning that froze your butt off at night. A small fridge is also included. No Microwave or any other appliance.

Wifi. This really impressed me. The signal is strong everywhere i went on premise. Even standing on the roof, in the restaurant and the entire pool area. I eas able to Video chat on my ipad with facetime and establish a strong connection back to the states just about daily. I was able to show family in real time what the pools, grounds and restaurant looked like. Heck, even the waiters got to say hi to our family!  Funny.

In all,  my wife and i would definately come back here.

Room Tip: Book eary. Their website offers promotional rates when you do.

My bride and I stayed at La Tortuga for our Honeymoon. I chose this place from all the reviews and it was like walking into an oasis. The enitre staff was wonderful. The restaurant was fantastic. It was great to have breakfast every morning, and we even had dinner there a couple of times...including one time up on the deck for a private dinner and the staff had rose petals everywhere and candles. Very romantic. The rib eye was amazing! The bartending staff was top notch, they even went to the point where when we would come home from the beach, they would bring the drinks to our room. We loved the pool, which isn't really designed for swimming, but just for lounging around and sitting in. We had a great stay in our large room with a spa in it. It was fun to see what towel creature would be created for us each day.
Going to the beach was a very easy walk, and using the beach clubs was very nice. Also, the hotel is right around the corner from the main street, so walking around at night was fun to hit the bars, dance clubs, and shops. ! Just make sure you have your mosquito spray on!
Last thing..we did pay to have private transportation back and forth from the airport in Can cun. Well worth it!

We spent a few days at La Tortuga before getting married in Cozumel and besides for the wedding itself our stay was the highlight of our trip. The staff was amazing as well as the accomodations. It was like an oasis in the middle of a busy city with so much to do and see.
We stayed in one of the superior junior suites with a jacuzzi on a private patio. The private patio was excellent and perfect for sipping champagne and relaxing.
We also recommend seeing the ruins of Tulum. We hopped a shuttle to get there, and the ruins themselves are worth seeing but plan on staying to hang out on the beach as well as it is beautiful.
This was our first trip to Playa Del Carmen and we very much look forward to going back and staying at La Tortuga.

Room Tip: If you pay for the room in advance you save a bit.

We stayed here 2 nights and can't wait to go back. Lovely room (we stayed in a swim up room), clean, friendly staff, 2 blocks from the beach. Everything we wanted in a hotel plus more.
