Typical hawkers you see in every Mexican tourist area, you learn to ignore it. Bunch of junk shops but keep your eyes open and you'll find some hidden gems. Cheap leather goods, wonderful Mexican folk art, nice clothes. Make sure you wander up and down some of the side streets to find the better shops. Very clean.

This was my second time here, and it will def. be my last. You cant even enjoy yourself walking around because of all the "pushy" mexicans trying to get you to buy something, then call you cheap americans behind your back. The higher end stores don't have people standing outside saying "now its my turn" and "come in amego.." Its just truly annoying, even the restaurants do it. Honestly, if your looking for a shopping bargin, its really not worth it. The prices are not much less than the resorts and you leave aggravated. We even went into a hagan-daz and paid 30.00 american for 3 ice creams!!! STAY AWAY!!

While the overly touristy feel of 5th Avenue had already creeped in during our first visit some 6 yrs ago, our visit last week just about sealed the deal on limiting our future visits. While we might do a quick stop for cheaper than resort prices on cigars and the odd souvenirs/pharmacy stop; the over bearing vendors were simply too much. Lighthearted pitches to 'buy my cheap crap' are now gone & overzealous, in your face & often times rude obtrusive cat calls have taken over. Guess what guys?! I'd be more apt to stop in, browse & possibly buy your stuff it it wasn't for your used car salesman approach.

If you are in the area and have never been give it a try.Spend a few hours and have a good time.Have been to 5th ave a few times over the years the novelty has worn off.The constant hassle from the shop keepers and being offered drugs.....our last time this year will be our last time. But if your looking for cheap crap to take hope to your friends and family this is the place.Step off 5th ave a few blocks a look for some local fare, way better food and at a better price.Oh ya most important thing, carry some peso's for the public bathrooms,if you can find one. They are at the bus depo

Night life is fantastic but Beware!! There are shops all down 5th ave trying to get you to come inside and buy this look at that "one Mexican minute" they all say. They would come up to and try to take you by the hand. Then the places that weren't like that tried to rip us off. Go to the ones that say flea market they have the best prices.
