We took a tour to Tulum followed by X-Caret in the same day. Do to driving and lunch outside of X-Caret we only gave ourselves about 5 hours to play. Not long enough but we were not disappointed at all.

There are 2 main draws here for us. The underground river and the big show at the end of the day. The river was a lot of fun. Just laying back wearing floating devices and slowly making our way down the river. Took about an hour to go the entire distance. At first we thought this was a natural set of river caves, but unfortunately they were all man made. Seeing is not a problem and throughout the river run there are many holes cut into the top of the tunnels to help cascade light from above. All in all a fun way to spend an hour away from the hot sun.

The animal exhibits were nice. The butterfly one being the best. It is impressively big inside and you walk around the perimeter of the enclosure from the floor level as well as above. Everything is picturesque and there is even a waterfall which is an ideal spot for taking pictures.

The big show at the end was exhilarating. 2 hours with a 10 minute intermission goes by quickly and does a great job of showing Myan life before the Spanish came... then it goes into the rich culture of Mexico with traditional songs and dances. Highly recommended and should not be missed.

One great thing about this place is each guest gets their own wrist band with a bar code. Throughout the park there are picture spots where you use your barcode to take a picture. At the end of the night, you can view all of those photos easy by scanning the barcode and buying pictures is pretty easy. They even offer the ability to take home every picture on a flash drive for about $80 US. Just be sure to keep using the same barcode throughout your stay to take advantage of that deal.

Loved this place so much, we went back 4 times. We had an unlimited access bracelet from the hotel next door, so we did the river swim one day....the "right" side of the park another, the "left side" on a third visit...the went back just for the night show.

The cemetery is cool, be sure to walk up to the St Francis chapel--it's worth it.

The dolphin areas were small and I felt sorry for the dolphins, but they seemed to be treated well.

Big tips: the aquarium is nicely air conditioned and so was the Hacienda near the entrance. The bathrooms near the entrance were air conditioned too, as was the rotating tower. It was 85 to 90 when we were there, so finding those little areas of coolness was important.

Do it all--swim the river and in the lagoon. See the butterflies, chapels and aquarium. There's almost always a nearby place to sit down and rest and just enjoy the jungle and beach views!

Only Wild Waddi was better than this but only in a few ways. What a great place. Love the paths, love the water.

It was ok, the structure was goog, nice restaurants with one meal included. Nothing special. It started raining when we were there, so there was nothing to do. It simulates mayan culture, but it seemed too artificial. We didn't stay for the show because most park attractions close at 5pm, but the show starts only at 8pm, so we didn't want to stay therr doing nothing just to see the show. The best thing we saw was the aquarium, it was very interesting. The aditional things, such as scuba diving abd swimming with the dolphins can be done at xel-há, these attractions are optional, so in both parks you have to pay extra if you want to do it. Don't take your own sunscreen to either parks, the ask you to ise biodegradable sunscreen in order to preserve the environment, so you have to leave your sinscreen at the entrance and get it back when you leave the park, but most likely you will forget it, so just don't bring it with you.
