We purchased a package through out hotel which included transportation, a meal with unlimited softdrinks/water and a beer. We went to the Mexican restaurant and it was pretty good. Nice variety, had a view of the horseshow but the service was somewhat poor. We cleared our own table several times and could never find our server to refill our drinks but overall wasn't a bad experience.

The park its self was much larger than I expected. We paid for an additional activity while there, Snuba diving. I highly recommend it! It is a combination of snorkelling and scuba diving, you have a 20 foot hose attached to your mouth piece that provides air from the tank on the little dinghy that you tow around with you while you are swimming. You go about 20 feet deep and see all the coral and fish. A photographer follows you and around and he caught some amazing pictures of our group. You have a guide with you who instructs you on how to breathe, not to touch the coral and whatnot. They are very knowledgeable and very helpful. One person in our party was very nervous about doing this and he was able to walk her though it, held her hand until she was comfortable enough to swim on her own.

We also swam in the underground tunnels, the ones above ground, went to the butterfly conservatory and visited the graveyard. There was so much to do I think we could have gone a second day. The aquarium has beautiful jelly fish, star fish, sting rays, there are plenty of turtles that they have rescued and are planning on setting free soon.

I recommend visiting Xcaret if you are in the area. Yes it is a bit pricey if you are with a family but we felt it was a once in a lifetime kind of thing. We won't visit again if we go back to the same area just because there are so many other things to do.

We decided to do only one excursion on this trip and were at the park from 9:30-8:30, which was the pickup times for the hotel.

The park was nice but it took us a little while to figure out to follow the tiled lines to be able to find the most direct ways of navigation.

There were things that were very neat to see ie. Jaguar Island and the Tapir but then there were things like Racoons, which coming from the states is not exciting or new at all.

We did the "dark" version of the cave swimming and did not have a snorkel. It wasn't as interesting as the other loop seemed while walking around. The tunnels were dark so we didn't think snorkeling would be a good idea, there was also not much to them. The tunnels were also just deep enough to where you couldn't touch, so the cave swim was exactly that, a swim for 50 mins.

We did not participate, but watched some of the Dolphin experiences. They are kept in a rather small area, but we did see many trainers with the dolphins that were not used in the experience at that time.

We did the Xcaret Plus, which included a locker & snorkel equipment for the cave swimming along with a lunch at one of the buffets.

We ate at the La Laguna over by Jaguar Island and were very pleased with the food and entertainment.

The show is from 6-8 and was fantastic. It was slightly long, but there was an intermission.

I would recommend going only for a half a day. There is a lot of walking and unless you decide to do all of the extra activities (which there is an upcharge for) you will not need 11 hours at the park.

We did enjoy ourselves, but probably would not go back.

Dear Visitor,

We apologize for haven’t reached your expectations during your visit to our park.

We would like to share with you that we’ve been working in a new sign project for the last two years and is almost done, in the past we only had the black route and today we have more colour routes and we have just one left that is not ready yet. As soon as we finish with the last one we will do the new maps, and if you visit us again you’ll see all our improvements.

On the other hand, we apologize for not informed you before your visit that we have a kind of entrance that we call “Xcaret at night” where you can enjoy the park starting for 3:00pm.

We thank you for all your comments.

Hope you to visit us again soon.

We visited the part in Feb and we found the cultural night show really impressive. We also joined the dinner option (Add UD45/person). The food was great, the seats were at best location and the service from the staff was also great. Strongly recommended.

Xcaret is an attraction park with a luxuriant vegetation and beautiful decors.
You feel like you are traveling thru the jungle.
We took a lot of amazing pictures, the place is very natural and well maintained.
The beaches are crowded by children, I would suggest to have a beach area for adults-only for the one looking for calmness.
The animals look happy as Xcaret reproduced their real environment. You can see Manatees, Turtles, Fishes, Parrots, Panthers.......

If you choose the option with all inclusive food, there are 3 restaurants. One was closed and of course it was the one we wanted to eat at.
We choose the La Laguna restaurant, they had a big buffet with salad bar, mexican specialties, bbq specialties, pasta station, dessert station....
The food was average, I was a little disappointed, next time I will bring my picnic and seat in one of the long chairs overlooking the beautiful views.

You have lockers at the entrance of the park, but they are a little far from everything.
You have to go back and force if you need to drop of your camera to go in the water.

The snorkeling experience is also a to do, we choose the one that is not completely closed and enjoyed the beautiful sun shines in the water.

The final show is a Must See! It retrieves perfectly the story of the Mayas. The effects are well made and the dancers & singers are incredibly talented.
The costumes and the decors are amazing!
I would suggest to take a little jacket in your bag as it gets cooler at night.

Nice experience! Last all day
Trip from Playa del Carmen to Xcaret: 30-40min
When you buy your tickets, make sure to ask how long you will have to wait between your hotel pick up and the bus to xcaret pick up. We waited 1:30hours for nothing after the shuttle picked us up from our hotel and it was 8am so nothing to do!

I was truly impressed with this park. The maintenance, service and attractions make it a must see if you are in Cancun or Riviera Maia. I recommend Xcaret Plus package, it includes lunch and snorkling equipment for the underground rivers. If you want to borrow the equipment for other areas, you have to make a 25usd deposit, which they give you back when you give back the equipment. Towel rental is 3usd. La Cocina restaurant has traditional mexican food, and for me honestly it was the best restaurant of the whole trip to Mexico. The food was amazing! Try chicken with mole and the traditional café de olla ( coffee with cinnamon). The evening show is a great way to know a bit more about mexican culture and see traditional local dances. It has so much to see that one day is not enough.
