Though not cheap this is a great day out. There are hundreds of attractions and there is absolutely loads to do for all ages and all interests. The Butterfly World and the Aquarium were probably the best I'd seen anywhere and every exhibit was clearly labelled and explained in both Spanish and English. We also enjoyed the orchid exhibition and the mushroom farm. Admission plus includes free hire of snorkel and fins, lifejacket, beach towels, a locker and a buffet lunch with beer, soft drink and coffee at a choice of five restaurants. The Underground River swim is a highlight of the day. It's a couple of kilometres in length and suitable for anyone without health issues. It's refectly safe as there are ropes and regular exit points if you start to get tired. Snorkelling along the inlets by the beaches was amazing and we saw huge, colourful fish similar to those we had encountered in the Red Sea. Again it's totally safe as the water is shallow (and lovely and warm). There is also a very relaxing boat ride included in the admission cost. We decided not to stay for the evening shows as we were exhausted by six o'clock. Those we spoke to who had stayed thought they were fabulous. If we went again we would go later in the day to see the shows. Admission cost is reduced after mid afternoon. If you are staying in Playacar taxis cost 150 pesos (about £7) and are readily available at the entrance of the park to take you home.Highly recommended!

I loved this place it has a lot to do but everything is separate from the admission so you need $$ I had the experience with the dolphins and that was a good experience I also did the Scuba diving and I loved the experience the helmets they use are a bit heavy for me.

we were staying next door at the fantastic Occidental Grand Xcaret
Buy a passport and enjoy collecting the 24 stamps. Beautiful arrangement of birds and animals. Travel down the river on a punt. Lots of side trips like walking under the sea, snorkelling, sharks and stingray experience. you will want to return more than once.

We went to Xcaret on a Monday, April 22, 2013. We bought the "plus" tickets, which get you towels and snorkel gear. We were told the package would include everything, but in truth- there are many extra charge activities, and without these there wouldn't be enough to do to fill a day.

The park is beautiful at parts, and not at all in other parts. We started with the float down the underground river. It is cold, but we were able to get used to it easily. Our snorkel tubes leaked, but the water is clear and fairly shallow, so we were able to see what we wanted/needed to with just our masks. It was scenic, and there are photographers along the way who snap pics that you can purchase at the end of the visit.

Next, we purchased a SNUBA activity, which was the highlight of the day. My husband is a certified Scuba diver, but I am not. This was a nice compromise. There are 2 different Snuba activities- make sure you choose the coral reef snuba, not the harbor one. We saw giant tortoises, barracuda, an enourmous school of fish and lots of coral. The boat ride is only 3 minutes, and the time underwater is about 25 minutes. The guide trains you to use the equipment before you leave the dock. I have asthma, and was worried about being able to regulate my breathing in the cool water. I had no problem. If you follow the instructions, and remember to take your time to breathe slowly and deeply, you'll do fine.

Next we had lunch at the Caribbean Buffet (included with entry fee). It was surprisingly delicious. I was expecting amusement park type food, but there was a big variety and everything we tried was very good.

This is where the trip went from great, to ehhh. We had already purchased dinner tickets to the show they hold every evening, so we were in for the long haul. The trouble was, the show started at 7pm, and it was only 2:15. At first we thought it would be fun, since the map looked as though there were a lot of things to see. In reality, there isn't very much. We killed time at the beach, which was nice, and then attended dinner and the show.

The first half of the show is amazing. They perform the ball game pok-de-pok, and fire ball. The costumes are intricate and well made. DInner was good. The second half of the show seemed very long. Each area/state of Mexico was represented with costume and dance. In my opinion, each part could have been shortened by half.

In the end, while I enjoyed the show and snuba-ing, I wouldn't go back. I would just book an excursion to snuba alone for a lot less money. Sure, it wasn't horrible- and parts were good- but it was expensive, and a very long day.

Dear visitor,

We offer you an apology for haven´t showed you all the natural and cultural attractions we have in Xcaret.

We want to share with you that some activities must be reserved as extras because of the following:

• In order to give a personalized experience, optional activities are available for a limited group of people, in comparison to the capacity of the park.
• The cost of maintenance of these activities is high, they are not included in the ticket for keeping the price as low as possible.

In the other hand, we hope you had told our staff about your snorkel tubes, we´d have been very glad to change them.

We are very glad to read you enjoyed doing Snuba, we hope you visit is again soon.
