It was an expensive trip and long day, picking up from all the resorts. It would have been better to take a cab and just pay for the park. There was a lot to see and do. Loved the butterflies. Would definitely try the dolphin swim if we go back there.

“Somewhat interesting, not much information”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

I was rather disappointed with our trip to Xcaret. We had booked the trip through a travel agency and were told that it was "all-inclusive." That was certainly not the case. Although we did have the lunch buffet included, nothing else was. We were also told that if we took any regular (non-biodegradable) suntan lotion into the park, it would be confiscated. Total lie. Don't spend your money on the biodegradable suntan lotion because it doesn't really work, anyway (as evidenced by the extreme sunburn on one of our group members when the day was over). We did skip all the water attractions with the exception of the Manatee underground river. It was LONG and CROWDED and not enjoyable due to all the people. I expected there to be a lot more information will ALL the attractions. The Mayan village was practically deserted and I felt there was very little info about it. We also had extreme difficulty understanding what was going on during the evening show as we don't speak Spanish. We ended up leaving early. On a positive note, the lunch buffet was delicious, the river boat was relaxing, and I am glad I got to the experience the park. If you are into all the water stuff, you will probably need two days if you want to do everything.

Dear visitor,

First of all we offer you an apology if there was a lack of information, we would like you to tell us which travel agency did you book with, in order to avoid these situations to be repeated.

We want to share with you that we ask visitors to use 100% biodegradable sun block to help us preserve all the wildlife we are caring about, it is not a thing of prohibition, it´s about ecological consciousness.

Thank you very much for your comments.

“Don't miss this!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

This was far better than we imagined! We had been to Xel Ha a few yrs ago, and liked it, but this is way beyond that experience. There is A LOT of walking involved, and after returning home and looking at the map again, I see we still missed lots of things. The highlight to me was floating down the underground river. It affords the best of an outdoor adventure, but is perfectly safe. There were plenty of places to bail out if you got tired, and you never knew what would be around the next bend. Learning about the Mayan culture and the natural world there was amazing. The park is really beautiful and well-kept, and although huge, it is easy to navigate. It never seemed crowded, and in fact we felt we were in the jungle alone, at times.
Meals were better than expected too, and in fact this place put Disney to shame in many ways. Wait til you see the night show--amazing!

“Expected more for the cost”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

We got the Excaret Plus package. Guess we just expected more for the money. Don't get me wrong, it was fine~ just not what we expected.Seems all the 'better' attractions were an extra charge. There was plenty to do and see; but, things were just 'lacking' Not sure how to explain it. I was very interested in the animals.. it wasn't what we thought it would be. An area with a couple spider monkeys another area with a deer. Another with 2 raccoon.
There was lots of walking, some interesting sights to see, just nothing special. Feel like I am in a minority . We had read so many stellar reviews, we were hyped prior to going. The fact that it was thunder storms and pouring rain and no power, pretty dark and took long time just to get utensils to eat with in the buffet restaurant may have put a damper on the day.Glad we saw it, but wouldn't return again.

“A must, especially for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

I was with a group of adults a couple of weeks ago. We stayed at the Grand Occidental Xcaret so we could buy a multi-day pass. A few in my group did and went over for a few hours several mornings and enjoyed themselves completely. Early in the day is the time to go- park opens at 8:30 and gets pretty busy by noon. The night show goes from 6-8 p.m. and it is a MUST SEE!!! I don't see a lot of shows but would rate this one as a 9/10 and one of the best shows I have seen outside of Cirque. I only got the day pass so went over for a few hours in the morning and went back for the show and had a great time- lots to see!!!
