“Good place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2011

We are a couple with one child a year and a half. We rented a penthouse apartment for six weeks from early January. When we arrived, we asked that we make a grocery store. It was made but it was not ours. There was a mixture between two condos. Damien, however, the concierge was quick to go do one. The service is very good with him. Those who replaces him when he is on leave does not do much.

In terms of cleanliness, the site is very well maintained. Regarding the condo, even if it is almost new, maintains the interior is poor. In our bathroom, he began having ay moisisure the ceiling and painting began to be worn.

The pool is very clean and cleaned daily. The private beach also. However it lacks oversight for the beach and pool. People from outside enjoy the sun and pool. Nobody expelled.

The beach is beautiful but there is a strong odor of sewage. We were told there was a problem with the sewer pipes that go into the sea That does not taste to swim ...

In terms of tranquility, a place is fairly quiet. But the condos are not well soundproofed, so you hear exactly what is happening in the bedroom of your neighbors ....

Three times in six weeks we have advised the neighbors down he was doing too much noise. Six young people had rented a vacation condo and celebrated until 5:00 am ....

In summary this is a great place for those with children. The pool and private beach was a plus. But it is a place that will not go very nice time. The owner of the condos do not seem to care for the inside to maintain that they are beautiful ....

If you are looking for a nice beach hotel with an incredible pool, then you should consider the Elements. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the official start of 5th Av. You can reach it either by the beach or walking up to 5th av and down the street. This hotel is in the north end of 5th Ave.
The Cuban Grill has authentic Cuban music. The Mayan restaurant down the street was very good. 5th Av. restaurants can be very spendy so be careful on prices. The drink prices are the ones to spot. Another good place was Robert Gray's resturant.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Elements in Unit 210 with our two daughters (4 and 9) and my mother-in-law. The property is well-suited for a family with plenty of space and a fully furnished kitchen. We really liked having 2 bathrooms and the laundry was a big bonus. In addition to a master in the king and two twins in the 2nd bedroom, our unit had 2 twin murphy beds in the living room which were handy. The property is new and clean and has high-end finishes like marble and granite. The balcony is huge and ours had a beautiful view of the ocean and the pool. The pool was great - it has a shallow area which was perfect for our 4-year old and our older daughter enjoyed it as well. There was never any problem getting pool chairs when we were there, however the beach chairs were a little harder to come by. You just needed to get up and grab a few in the morning. The concierge, Damien, was extremely helpful and helped us arrange a driver for a day to Akumal as well as beachside massages at the property. My only issues (I hesitate to even call them complaints) with the property were 1) the location is a little off the beaten path, which we were aware of when we booked. We were counting on the beach club next door to act as a surrogate on-site restaurant but we struggled to find food our little ones liked there and I don't believe they served breakfast. In addition, it was pretty expensive. In hindsight, I would prefer an on-site restaurant or more immediate options. 2) the sulfur smell on the beach. I had read about it in reviews but assumed it came and went. When we were there on the beach, it was omnipresent and pretty strong on some days.

We enjoyed our stay at The Elements very much. My wife and I traveled with our 2 year old son and girls 12 and 16. My wife and the girls enjoyed the shopping on 5th Avenue, which is a short walk. We couldn't keep the baby away from the uniquely designed pool, which is large and much of it is shallow enough for the baby to enjoy. Actually, we were nervous that The Elements was too far from the action at first, but in the end we all agreed that the location was great (quieter than something right on 5th Avenue, but still close enough to enjoy the action).

Someone else noted the sulfur smell on the beach from time to time, and this was really our only compliant. However, we noticed the same smell elsewhere on the beach so I suppose this is a complaint more about Playa generally than The Elements.

Generally, Damien, the concierge, and the other staff are great. Usually, the pictures on these websites are not accurate, but the pictures on here are dead on. The buildings and pool are well designed, the units are a good size, the bedrooms are nice, the furnishings are modern and sparse but more than adequate, the private beach is right there, etc. If we return to Playa we would certainly rent at The Elements again.

Anyone looking for a great family vacation this is the place. We traveled for our 25th anniversary with 2 kids in late teens. The Elements is a beautiful, clean, well maintained resort. Damien at the front desk is a gem. Ask his advise on anything and he has a recommendation or a way to get it done for you cheaper and more efficiently than you can yourself. The beach club in front of the hotel is alittle pricey but fun to go to for a drink and some tunes. Martha is a great waitress there. Damien recommended Mexico Blue Divers. My husband and I are advanced divers but our kids had just been certified this summer. Blue diver customized 4 days of diving to suit all our skill levels. I ( a claustrophobic baby) highly reccomend the Cenotes. It is nothing like you will ever experience on any ocean dive. I loved it. The massage at the Elements is to die for and at 30 USD it is a steal. The people are friendly the sun shines every day and the water is blue. Go have fun :)

I searched out a nice, quiet vacation destination to rest after completing my 6th Ironman Competition in August of 2010. I booked condominium #112 at the Elements in Playa Del Carmen for a full weeks stay. The accomodations were better than expected. The unit consists of 2 bedrooms and two baths, a large dining space, kitchen and living room. The view from the room is spectacular as you look over the largest pool in Playa Del Carmen right towards the perfect beach and ocean views. Being just 2 blocks from 5th Street, we had access to dozens of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. This was my 3rd trip to Mexico and definitely the best experience that I've ever had. So looking forward to further stays at The Elements.

Thanks so much for your kind review of our unit, Elements 112. We strive to make sure every aspect of your stay in our condo is enjoyable. We think The Elements is the Best in Playa Del Carmen, and believe me, we did our research before buying into the project. From the quality construction, to the plasma tvs, to the beautiful pool, to the clean beaches, to the 80+ degree water, and to the neat town Playa is we thought long and hard. We said enthusiastically "yes" and we're glad we did.

Your review to us was importnat to ensure our home was as good for you as it is for us. Thanks again!

First let me say the Damien at the front desk is AWESOME!!!!!! This was my first trip to The Elements and I can't rate this place high enough. My best friend and i went to celebrate my divorce and this could not have been a better location. Since we traveled in August it was perfect, we were in low season had the pool pretty much to ourselves and the Penthouse was just as described - AWESOME. Let me say again that Damien made the trip enjoyable and was helpful and friendly. This place at this time was perfect for a kickback vacation when we spent the days in the pool/spa or laying on the balcony, cooking dinner or going out for a bite to eat. Everything is local and within minutes by cab or walking.

Our stay was for 8 days and there is No doubt that we will be back,
