Description: Mosquito Blue Restaurant and Lounge has been a trendsetter in Playa del Carmen, unequaled in quality and sophistication for both its menu and design. When it opened in 2003, the restaurant became the first in Playa to offer a chic gourmet dining experience on the popular 5th Avenue, in the heart of Playa del Carmen’s tourism district. A team of Italian chefs transforms ingredients from the Mexican Caribbean kitchen into a delicious Mediterranean Italian culinary experience. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Enjoy a superb collection of Italian wines carefully imported exclusively for Mosquito Restaurants.

“A charming place in the earth of the 5th Ave”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We selected this place because of the elegant modern decor and interesting menu. The four of us were looking for a nice table not right in the middle of the too busy 5th Ave. What we got was a perfect spot, in front of the pool in a sort of internal patio. Service is excellent, menu spans across several continents with its focus on Italian food, homemade pastas and focaccias. The chef came to explain the options in person as soon as he was told that we were from Italy. I will not describe all the food that we had, but I can say that from carpaccio to past, from baccala' to sea-bass and tiramisu, including their interesting bread selection, all we got was excellent and very well presented. Very complete also their wine list with prices that, even if not at a bargain, are reasonable.

“Hugo is THE MAN!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

My husband and I were at an all inclusive resort for our honeymoon last month in Mexico. Someone at our hotel (Paridisus La Perla in Playa Del Carmen which we loved!!!) recommended this restaurant as we said we wanted to go into town one night. WE LOVED IT! We sat outside and a man sold my husband roses for me and the mariachi band played for us. We had an AMAZING lobster meal and great wine.
When Hugo the Manager found out it was our honeymoon, he had a special plate made up for us complimentary for dessert with HAPPY HONEYMOON written on the plate. He was a wonderful restaurant manager at a fabulous restaurant. We can't say enough about the experience and are telling everyone to go there.
A gem for sure.

“A very enjoyable experience”
Reviewed March 13, 2013 via mobile

Great food, excellent service and a perfect location for 'people watching' on 5th Avenue. We thoroughly enjoyed our starters and main courses, helped by some great suggestions from our waiter and an excellent wine recommendation. Definitely worth a visit.

“Excellent Choice”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

My girlfriend and I were in Playa for our anniversary and wanted to head down 5th for some food. We are foodies to the max, and she is used to fine dining in NYC. We were blown away by this restaurant. The food was amazing - we had lobster gnocchi, salad, and an eggplant dish that was out of this world! The staff was super nice - we had Daniel who was a great waiter. You MUST go try this food. A fancy restaurant amongst a lot of low quality places.

“Classy romantic spot”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We were told about this place by the hotel concierge at the El Taj and they were nice enough to call for us and make the reservations. When we arrived we were taken to a nice table for 2 by the outside wall, which is open air, and were seated by a very gracious host. The place is really special with the all white decor and the blue lighting. Immediately our waiter was at our table bringing us sweet warm bread and a wine list. We ordered a bottle of wine which he recommended and placed our food order. We started with appetizers and finished with dessert and would rate the entire dininig experience as 10....8.5 for the food/drinks and awesome respectable service took it to the 10 level. Well worth a visit while in Playa.
