“Good idea but needs improvement”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

We took this ferry twice to and from the cruise port. On our way to our tour they picked up our excursion tickets when getting into the ferry. The ferry seats were comfortable and they kept playing a video in loop of tourist places. The bar staff was very friendly and greeted the passengers. Too bad I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff they were too busy on their phones playing and telling each other jokes. I stop one of them to ask a question and you would have thought i had asked her something improper. She did responded but with an attitude, the bar runner guy joined us and attempted to correct the girls attitude. Once we got off the fairy the passengers seemed lost since they did not have the tickets to their excursions which had more details like excursion number, etc. On our way back we sat on the outside this was better you did not feel the water sloshing and bumping of the water. In the interior we saw lots of people sick but in the outside it was so smooth. The seats are not as soft but its a short ride to the dock. We had some ferry guy come and give us instructions in broken English and in a voice volume that you could not hear anything. He repeated his speech three times but yet people still did not hear or understand. Next thing we notice they are passing a bucket for tips. The bar runner guy told him to repeat his speech for our area but he made a gesture and walked away. So the bar runner guy told us a summary of what the first guy had said.

“Cozumel ferry”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Was excited to take the ferry to Cozumel during our stay in the Maya Riviera. We did not realize Cozumel was so close! We were able to use a credit card for the fare. It only took about a half hour to cross. Even though the lines can be long, they have many boats. So don't worry if you think you won't fit on the ferry! There was space for everyone inside. The ferry is clean, but the bathrooms are not great. So wait until you get to the dock and use those if you need.

“Useful and you have one every hour”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

They are two companies working and you have a ferry leaving every hour. The cost is 155 pesos (around 13 US $). It cost the same buying 2 single tickets than a return one so although is a pain to the queue twice, you might want to see which company is leaving first at the time of your return and buy your ticket then.
You can purchase drinks on board. Trip is around 50 min. Pretty easy. The only bad thing are ones cutting lines, pushing, etc. Shameful to say that this behaviour was displayed by the visitors and the locals. I am wondering what these people would say if we saw the same behaviour carried on by visitors at home.
Ferry had plenty of seats. If you tend to be cold, be aware that there is a strong air con inside so head upstairs for outdoor seating or bring something to cover up. Enjoy Cozumel and its beautiful waters.

“Fast and cheap!”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

The ferry from Playa Del Carmen to Cozumel was fantastic. It was fast, efficient and great service. The staff take your bags upon boarding, there are comfy seats inside to sit on or you can take in the fresh air and sit outside. The line for the ferry to Cozumel was huge as it was peak season, but on the way back it was quicker and quieter. The ride itself was pleasant. There were a few bumps but overall very enjoyable. There are two services available, however due to our departure and arrival times, the UltraMar was the one going when we wanted to leave.

“Ride up top if you can.”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

We used this ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres for a half day trip. The ferry is clean, the service prompt and it is all very accessible.
The ticket counter only takes cash, so plan accordingly. Also, there is a "dock" fee that adds a couple of dollars per person above the advertised prices.
We rode up top on the way over, and inside on the way back. It can be a rough ride depending on the waves, which for us made it kind of fun.
