My husband and I spent a week at El Faro, we were in room 305 Reef, two bedroom condo that was beautifull!! While we only needed the one bedroom the king size bed was sooo comfortable. It was kept spotless and had everything you could ever need. We had the all inclusive option so we didn't use the kitchen at all.The two choices for restaurants were Wickys and Mr.Chilies. We only ate breakfast and sometimes lunch at Wickys the service was friendly but slow and the food good-average. We ate on fifth every night as we like to try different restaurants.I guess we lucked out on the location of our room because it was very Quiet which was suprising as so many people have posted reviews about the noise? While we loved this location and really had a great time I think we will take a break form being right in town. Our last three trips we have stayed right in Playa so it's busy which is great if thats what your looking for. Next time a little isolation will be great.

We just got back last night, I have alot to say about this resort, I will tell you all about this resort, restaurants and grounds.
We arrive at this resort on the 28 of January to the 4 Of Febuary 2012, a group of 4, 2 adultes and 2 twenty years old. Me and my husband we were looking more to relax on the beach have good food and good drinks, the kids wanted to go out and party and drink. Wen we got out of a 1h bus ride we were finaly at the resort. The staff at the front desk were so nice but since we were to early for the room to be ready we were invited to go to the Wicky's witch is right in the resort and on the beach. We sat down and had drinks and lunch the view was incroyable sitting there eating and watching the turquoise sea amazing. Finaly the rooms were ready we had reserve 2 units of 1 bedroom suite ocean view, we had the 307 witch had the ocean view but the other one was 203 and it was facing the street we went back at the desk to the reception telling us that there are only 2 suites that have the ocean view, we were suppose to have the other one aswell but was givin to somebody else but the the kids said it was ok for them in this suite. For the food at Wicky's or M.Chilli it's realy good you have lots of choices. At M.Chilli the service is very good and fast at Wicky's the service is slower because you have more choices of food and entrees ect...We had the privilege of meeting all of these poeples at Wicky's the Bartender Mario gave us the best service and drinks we ever wanted, he gave us, even at one point there was no Sol (beer) anymore and he got it for my husband no matter what, we even went to the Wal-mart to go get wine and Corona and he would put it in the fridge at the bar so it would be cold. Manuel & Omar are bartender at Wicky's too and they would make all kind of drink for the girls shooters you name it they got so Guy's Thank you soooo much. The waiters now, you have Pascual,Eulises,Edimael and Jose these poeple were so nice to us, they took the time to let us know the special of the day and what is the best to eat at the restaurant, they try to make every experience the best. The Managers would take extra time to make sure you have everything that you need if you have questions go see them (Joel and Ricardo) if you are celebrating something tell the Manager and they will do anything to make your stay at with them the best that they can. Last but not least the Security, woww what to say, they were there at all time on the beach 24 hours a day.Juan Carlos you will see him on the beach all the time if poeple would try to seat at the resort but did not belong there you would see them leave, he is on top of the game at all time, Fernando is the chief of security you will see him everywere on the grounds you see him so much that you will not think he ever sleep. Fernando would even bring back the kids from the Bar after they finish party in the night, these poeple care about you...Thank you so much Fernando. I would let you know like everyone... the music is loud and its hard to sleep some night because the music goes until the wee hours of the morning but again we were right beside it, we close the patio door of our bedroom and it was much better, if you want no noise then dont take the bedroom suite close to the beach because thats were all the party's are. For the entertainments we only saw on guy that came over 2 night before we were coming home and his name is Eduardo Bianco he is an illusionist and he was very good the best I have seen in a long time He entertain us for a long time with all kinds of tricks we were impressed with him, beside that you have to go out for entertainment. We went so many times on the 5th Avenue for shopping and little restaurants so for us that was the entertainments. We will be back to this Resort very soon. Thanks to all of you at Encanto El Faro Resort, Wicky's and M.Chilli.
From Canada.
Josée, Todd. Pascale and Isabelle

Room Tip: Choose 1 bedroom suite ocean view if you dont mind the music it was the best room we ever had in the past, choose the room from the fart right if you dont want to see the ocean from your room and the noise is almost none

ENCANTO EL FARO LUXURY CONDO (Jan 20-27/12)
(we are a couple (from Canada) celebrating our 25th Anniversary and went with friends that are celebrating their 25th as well, 3 of us turned 50!)
First week in Isla Mujeres (see my review) and second week here!

What to say, what a GREAT place, can’t wait to return next year! We stayed in Room Coral 301 …was beautiful, clean, right on the Beach in a GREAT location…ss appliances, granite counters, two bed, two bath with a BBQ…so we would walk to Walmart and bought BBQ food and then went out for drinks/bars etc…was great fun…the condo was MORE then what we excepted, the pictures didn’t do it justice! No phone in condo.
Condo had everything you need except bring some dishsoap/dishwasher tablets for your first night …or don’t and just walk to Walmart directly down the street and pick it up! You can buy your beer and wine and drinks at Walmart too! Tip: remember you can only buy booze until 5pm on Sundays! Walmart has an ATM and gave us the best rate! The pool area is clean and beautiful as well and the “beach” washrooms are sparkly clean as well!...they are always cleaning!
If you are looking for a quiet place, this may not be for you… not that it was noisy in the condo, when sleeping, I mean there are lots of people around and you can hear the music from the beach bars, depending on the wind!
We did go out and eat a couple of times, one place you must go is La Mission the food was Excellent! I can’t remember where it was, but ask around, it’s well worth the effort..we had the Mexican platter..soooo good!
Bars are all great fun!...great variety of great music (some cheap, some expensive) shop around!
5th Avenue if fun to shop, but if you get off the main drag, much cheaper!
Took a Ferry from Playa to Cozamel (about 40 min ferry ride), just a short walk down the beach to the Ferry terminal-don’t go to the people that say they are selling tickets to directly to the ‘booth’ for the “Ultramar” Ferry or the “Mexico” Ferry, both are fine …we took the Mexico one because it left first…cost was $7 USD one way, we bought ‘one’ way tickets so we could take either Ferry back depending which left first! Once you are in the Ferry terminal, it’s attack of the “tourist” guides wanting you to rent a car/jeep/scooter etc etc, when you get to Cozamel…they tell you it’s expensive to get a Taxis and expensive to rent a scooter etc …one said they would rent us a scooter for $50 for 4 hrs..anyway, all NOT true…once you get to Cozamel it’s cheaper THERE!...we got a Van/taxi which took us 10 miles for $14 aprox. If you want to rent a scooter just walk around and they are everywhere and you can barter a price there! Our experience..don’t ever buy, rent or get advice from anyone around Ferry terminals, Airports, piers just cross the street and get a much better deal!
Once in Cozamel…nice place, but pretty much the same!...I wouldn’t go again…BUT we did go to an Excellent restaurant called Camilo’s ..free guacamole!...not far from the pier on Calle 2 nte, hope you can find it, ask around…delicious…try the stuffed fish!
Anyway, ENCANTO EL FARO LUXURY CONDO great PLACE and are making plans to return next year!

Room Tip: Any room is a good room...I believe they ALL face the Beach/pool area.

To sum up the hotel. Nothing works but the front desk is very friendly always saying it will be fixed today with zero success. The location is the only plus because it's right on the beach and in downtown just bring ear plugs because the club next door goes unit 5 am and you can hear it.

We have been traveling to Mexico for my whole life and this has to be the worst experience because for what they told us the room and hotel provided.

First Wireless Internet in the room. We have 5 people who have to be in connected for work during the week. Well they have port to plug your computer in but no signal and no wireless router but the front desk and employees at Wickey's have wireless internet.

Second the Hot Tub. Well we have a hot tub that has been closed off with warning tape and empty because the front desk says the people before us broke the glass but I'm not inclined to trust the word of the front desk anymore.

Landry in the unit. We have a close space and hookup for a washer and dryer but no units in the closet. I guess the hotel forgot to tell us that you have to travel with your washer and dryer.

BBQ grill on deck. We have a rather larger deck with a sink outside but no grill.

There are no lamps in the whole 3 bedroom unit not even next to the beds for people to read at night.

All of the elevators are now broken and only one has been working for the rest of the time here.

The pool is a nice size but looks like it hasn't been turned on in a while because there is scum growing on the sides of the pool plus the filters flowing water into the pool have been turned off the whole time and infinity part of the pool doesn't work because the water level is to low.

The sad part is that we are staying the nicest unit so I can't image what other people are dealing with but from what I have heard from the other guest is it's the same.

We have dealt with the front desk multiple times a day and I'm sure they are sick of talking with us because we are tried of talking with me. I believe this is more the fault of hotel management then the front desk.

It seems to me that this hotel chain is trying to cut budget because a lot of stuff is turned off all day and night and doesn't get fixed which is all about keeping the hotel up but not running like how it is stated on the website or by the reservation desk.

I will post pictures of everything at a later date.

If you're looking for peace and quiet, this isn't the right choice. The noise is the evening until the bars closes is unbearable and the noise in the early mornings from the diving center will wake you up like a daily alarm clock. I slept 7 days with ear plugs that could barely do the job.

We were on a all inclusive package, the reservation team wasn't aware they offered that to customers because we bought it via our Transat Holidays.

The food is great, they have a fabulous Chef. The hotel is in the heart of the village and on the beach. I didn't realize this would be a problem because of the amount of people on the tiny beach and the noise level.

The service is always friendly in Mexico. However, it was extremely disorganized at the restaurant. Managers don't manage. Pascal, the evening waiter, was the only one who knew what was going on.

The lovely and resourceful receptionnist, Silvia, offered us two free massages because our room was downgraded from a confirmed ocean view to a loud and business street view. It was a great massage by the beach except for the loud pool customers.

The rooms aren't finished. No privacy in the bathrooms because the windows aren't covered! When we asked to have it fixed, they put black garbage bags. No poles in the closet to hang your clothes, they had to fix that. No phones in the rooms or suites.

Electricity was out for a few hours on one of the mornings, no notes under our door to let us know or apologize. No electricity = no water. No contingency plans either. When we inquired about lunch options, we pointed out that the buidling next to ours (same owners) had a restaurant but they refused to offer lunch because its a privately ran restaurant.

You want a romantic and/or peaceful stay, go to Tulum!

Room Tip: Ocean Front, not ocean view because you might get assigned to the street side with a small glimpse of the ocean!
